Attention Christmas puppy owners 🐶🐶🐶
I have a new training and education opportunity for all the new puppies. Shoot me a message if you’re interested in learning more about what we have been working on. I will be announcing soon and plan to open registration within the new couple weeks!
I love seeing this ❤️ When I work with my clients my hope is that they learn the necessary skills to forever train their dogs. I’m only with them for a short amount of time! Darinda taught Josephine this super cute trick. Isn’t she precious? 🥹

This corgi…. 🤣 He loves to pout when he’s not getting enough attention!
Sweet boy, Blackberry! We are in love with his "please" command, taught to him by his mama 😍 Thanks for coming to see us yesterday and learning some new tricks!

Leash walking tips 🐕
I forgot to post on Tuesday so here’s “Training Tip Thursday” 😉
#1 tip: PRACTICE. Leash training 20 mins a day every day is more effective than an hour long session once a week. If you have a boundary pusher (like me 🫣) consistency is important. Be patient- it gets easier over time!
#2 Exeecise your dog before going on your walk to get them in a calm mind, ready to train.
#3 Forget harnesses and retractable leashes! Harnesses can cause more strain on the dog because it gives them even more power to pull. It can also cause their problems with their muscles in the chest area. I recommend a 6ft solid leash and a flat or chain/prong collar.
#4 Turns! Turn around and ask your dog to follow you. Practice this drill back and forth until the dog is totally focused on you and no longer interested in the distraction
#5 Stop 🛑 Walking forward is the reward. Instead of breaking your arm trying to pull the dog, just stop. Ask them to look at you or sit. Once the attention is back on you- try again. This may take a few times!

Advice from a Dog Trainer
Mom + Kirby: session 1 million 🐾🖤

Training is a journey. When I come to your home or work with your dog, I train you how to train your dog. When I leave after 4 weeks, I want you to feel confident training your dog because training sessions don’t stop there.
The look 👀 Kirby gives me says it all: he respects and trusts me. See how he looks at me for direction when I’m working with him? This bond takes time but it’s the best way to have a reliable dog. Once you learn how to connect with your dog + establish mutual trust and respect, you can teach them anything!
Ways to bond with your dog:
-Training sessions - a lot of praise!
-Teach them new tricks
-Walks + play
-Games and puzzles
-Take them on adventures
-Snuggle + show affection
-Consistent boundaries and expectations
Remember to stay positive when training. Some days will be better than others (just like us). The rewards are well worth the work 🖤

Behavior modification is hands-down my favorite type of training to lead/teach 🥰
Dog brother Briggs is terrified of the bath tub. Since he’s such a big boy, it’s important that he willingly get into the bathtub. (Despite being a lab- he HATES water 😅)We did a quick training exercise together and within 15 mins he was jumping right in the tub!
I’m so proud of him for being so brave! 🥰
Approaching an aggressive dog on a walk
How to bypass an aggressive dog 🐶
1. Pay attention to the dogs body language- you’ll notice his tail is curled up his back (he is alert and ready charge whatever threatens its territory)
2. DO NOT RUN. Stay where you are at
3. Dogs can pick up on energy. If you are frantic, your dog will become scared and may try to charge the dog in attempts to protect you.
4. Wait for the dog to go back to its yard. If the dog refuses to retreat to its yard- walk towards the dog slowly while maintaining control of your dog.
5. YOU are in control of this situation and must show both dogs you are in charge
Why is this dog showing aggression?
Dogs with little training tend to be insecure and lack confidence. You can see that Kirby is waiting for my command and staying calm. He knows I am in control so he calm and non reactive.
This dog is asserting dominance over his territory. He is scared and unsure of how to behave when someone “threatens” his space.
*note- this same dog a few weeks later knocked down an older gentleman when he was walking his dog. The man’s dog charged this dog in attempts to protect his owner and knocked him down. This is why it’s so important to have good communication with your dog in this situation!!
I hope this helps keep you and your dog safe 🐶 Feel free to comment with any questions!

Snow corgi ❄️
Kirby is ready for some snow ❄️❄️❄️
Leave it command with high-reward
It’s that time of year! 🎄🎄🎄We will all see lots of beautiful puppies be given as gifts this year and I love that! Dogs are the best companions and we are so lucky to have them!
But this is your reminder that if you plan to buy a dog or puppy this year, consider what trainer you will be using to set your dog up for success. A trainer does more than teach your dog “sit, stay, come” A trainer works with you to set boundaries and expectations with your dog. A trainer also facilities a healthy bond between you and your dog, while demonstrating clear and efficient communication.
Every dog is trainable and they deserve to have the best possible chance. Please consider training before you re-home your dog 🐕
Tips for buying dogs for the holidays:
- Consider that you will be house breaking your dog in the snow ❄️
-Hahe plenty of chew toys ready for you pup when you bring them home
-Have a special place for you dog to feel safe. This can be a bed, crate or anywhere where they can get alone time
-Consider what breed is best for your family. Some breeds are athletic (corgis) while some are cuddly lap dogs (chihuahuas).
-Start training immediately! Start small with introducing their name and teaching “sit.”
- lots of love and treats 🥰
Dog psychology Tip
Is your dog hesitant to use their collar/ leash/ harness? Try incorporating play time while using it. Over time, the dog will learn to associate the two as a positive experience. He will eventually become desensitized to wearing it!
This guy isn’t a fan of his harness so we are playing together while he wears it. Also lots of praise and lots of love! Sometimes they need a little confidence boost 😃
