Voyager Kennels We began our training and hunt test journey in 2020 with Argo. Then added Virgie in 2022. We mainly compete in HRC hunt tests and some AKC hunt tests.

Today was Ronnies first time retrieving something heavy like a Dokken. He did great! This was his 5th and final retrieve. Now that his adult teeth are most of the way in we will stsrt doing more retrieving work on top of the obedience.

This morning we started the day off with Ronnie's collar conditioning. He didn't respond to vibrate so we went to the lowest setting of shock. That turned it into a very positive session.

Then the big dog went down to work to run 3 blinds. There was no wind.

Blind 1 was 110 yards down the slope, between the implements, across the ditch and over the first row of potatoes. Virgie didn't want to cross the ditch so she ran it again after Argo was done.

Blind 2 was 200 yards down the hill, across the road, across the corner of the cabbage, through the rye, and to the other side of the property. Both dogs did very well probably could have each 1 whistled this blind. But I was trying to hold them to a higher standard and we got there in 3.

Blind 3 was 158 yards down the hill, across the road, over about 8 rows of bell peppers, through 3 rows of asparagus, and about 20 yards back across another driveway. Virgie 1 whistled this. Argo ran one of his best blinds of the year then for some reason tried to avoid the asparagus on the way back. So we ran it again and I handled him back through it.

Had a great morning training with Nate and Kevin. Now these 3 are hanging out in the AC while I grills some pork chops.

The big dogs did an ABCD drill this morning. But I threw a wrench into it. All of them were walk ups. We stood behind the dumpster for a couple min, walked out at heal, somewhere in the red I would throw the bird. If they sat they got to make the retrieve. If they stayed standing and took a step forward we reloaded the winger. Argo did good. And Virgie did way better than expected. Hope shes able to keep that up when we run out first Master test next month!

Its funny some of the little things that get passed down from generation to generation. Argo also lays with his front paws crossed. Pretty sure Argos breeder told.me that his sire and possibly grand sire also did that.
