Glad we were able to go out and train the last few days. Sounds like the weather's going to make that less appealing this week. But hopefully it pushes some birds down.

Today we did 3 singles, a diversion, and a blind. Mark 1 was 142 yards, M2 was 93 yards, M3 was 205 yards, M4 was a 33 yard diversion on the way back from M3. The blind was 158 yards in the hip pocket of the first mark. The wind was about 10 mph.

With the lovely weather outside the yellows and I are doing out second favorite thing. Laying on the couch watch YouTube. Hopefully Wednesday we can do our favorite thing and go chase some birds! Merry Christmas to all!

Virgie got to make her first retrieve this morning. It broke through and went part way under the thin ice on the shoreline. So I had to help her with it. But I was pretty proud of her. She stayed steady until I released her by name. This was also her first time with cold water and ice. Thanks Mark for the invite. Can't wait till our next hunt!

Virgie is finally done with her heat cycle. So after 3 weeks it's time to start reintroducing these 2. Hopefully after a couple more days everything will be back to normal until April.

We spent the last few days watching our friends kennel as they visited family. This year it was about 50⁰ warmer. Aggie is still the queen bee. Badger is about 10x the size he was last year. Evee the husky has also grown vastly. Hershey still handles blinds better than any dog. And there isn't enough attention in the world for Nugget or her boys Rudy and Badger. The only thing those 3 love more than pets is training and being team players in the field. I really enjoy when I can help a friend, but it definitely helps that some amazing dogs are included! Then we headed up to my parents to watch the Huskers almost win....

Had a great day with the dogs. We went up and watched the game with my parents. The. On the way home I took Virgie for her first duck hunt. She did great in the blind. But we only seen 3 ducks during shooting hours. Spooked 3 whooping cranes and that's something I'll remember for the rest of my life.

According to Virgie when you have a 77⁰ day in October it's illegal to not take your dogs to the river. Not to often does Argo whole heartedly agree with her.

45, 80, 110 yard marks as a delayed triple and a 140ish blind.

Just a quick double and blind today. 15-20mph wind blowing from 2nd holding blind to the first. Working on decheating with both dogs and steadiness with Virgie. M1 75 yards M2 110 yards B1 135 yards.

Not a bad year for the little one. Now it's time to learn some patience so we can go play with the big dogs in finished next year.

This weekend the yellow dogs and I went down to Sunflower Retriever Club . Virgie went 2 for 2 and earned her Seasoned title! Argo went 1 for 2. We had a great time seeing old friends as well as making new ones.

Our hunt test season is over now with Virgie going 5 for 6 overall and Argo 4 for 6. We learned a lot this year and have some work to do in the off season. I am very excited to see what the future hold for these 2!

Thank you to all the club members, judges, bird techs, pros and other amateurs we ran with or under this year.

This morning I noticed something black from Argos paw and just figured he stepped on some electrical tape outside. Nope, it was Gorilla tape! After a short panic attack I rushed to the Googles. Squirts some wd-40 on it, let it set for a minute, and it peels right off. Thankfully it wasn't as big of a deal as my lovely pessimistic brain assumed it would be.

We love the river! Rosie ran singles and the blind. Virgie ran the middle mark as a walk up then the outside 2 as a double, and the blind. Argo ran the right and middle marks as a double, threw the left mark, no off it, run the blind, pick up the mark. After they all ran I let them run around like lunatics for 45 min while I picked up everything.
