Bruno is home with us. I have been getting to know him and he is just a wonderful dog. Next week he will be neutered and after that we will work on his reactivity, which is already improving!
The big problem was he was never taught how to behave with other dogs. He is on a slow learning curve here, which will become quicker after his neuter recovery.
I believe he will be able to live with a spayed female large dog (he is a bit pushy) and will need a strong human leader. He does really want to please, just was not given training. His recall is improving and can become solid.

I have been able to visit with Bruno! Yesterday, Noel and I were allowed to have a meet and greet with this boy, Bruno.
He is a wonderful animal. Playful, sits, downs, will walk on leash well once he gets his energy out!
He has already attached to the great Staff at the shelter and loves them. He would do best in a single dog home, since he has not been socialized with other dogs. He will be able to tolerate other dogs better with some training. He is not out of control, just defensive as he feels threatened. A big buffoon, will lunge and bark, but is just overstimulated by seeing dogs. Some work on this and I feel he will learn that dogs are OK!!
This shelter~ Pawtucket Animal Shelter ~ is not set up to do training with their dogs. They are a city shelter dealing mostly with strays and dumped dogs. They are very nice and invested into finding Bruno a great home. He is due to be neutered early March, but would like to go home before and then taken to the Shelter's Vet.
He would do great in a home with teenagers. That is what he was used to before medical issues within his family. He is used to being alone/loose in house during the day while he people worked.
He is not destructive and plays very gently with his toys.
Great house dog who will love his new people!

The Pawtucket Shelter would like to see him in a single animal home.

It has come to our attention that a dog from one of our breedings has been surrendered to Pawtucket Animal Shelter, Rhode Island. A member of Bruno’s family has a serious illness and they were unable to keep him. Bruno is 6 years old, a handsome West German Shepherd Dog. He has been a great family member and deserves another wonderful family. He is available for adoption within the New England States, RI, MA, NH, VT,CT, Maine. His adoption fee is $175.00. He will be neutered before adoption. A fenced yard is a must. He loved his family and misses them. Please share this post.

1/22/25 Dexter is safely back home. Dexter was picked up at some point after he went missing and brought all the way to Blackstone Mass. We want to remind people, that if you find a lost dog, please be sure to reach out to Animal Control in the TOWN where you found the dog.

Dexter is 3 years / 80 pounds and is tan in color. Wearing collar with tags.
