Halfway through his first leash conditioning session, I believe Hershey began cuing on the jingle of his tags during his leash taps…lol. Before this single session, there was no meaning resonating from the leash taps or jingle. Notice the quick transformation in attitude from rep 1 to the last rep. (Reps in between were cut away for the sake of video length).

I think sometimes we consider shaping as just another option. It can in fact be more than just taking a dog that’s flat or new to training, and teaching it to learn. It can also be …even necessary in some cases where a “hands on” approach is beyond the threshold that a dog is ready for.
