Canine Karma Training- Pennsylvania, LLC

Canine Karma Training- Pennsylvania, LLC Relationship based dog training and behavior modification. Located in Littlestown, PA. I am NOT your typical dog trainer.

The Canine Karma Training program is a truly unique approach to dog training, heavily focusing on the relationship between the dog and owner, because relationship is EVERYTHING. I am a Reward-Based, Balanced Trainer and do not employ old school methods such as Alpha/Dominance, heavy compulsion or fear/intimidation. I will teach you the WHY vs just how to train your dog, providing you with the knowledge you need to live a harmonious, well-balanced life with your dogs.

Happy Howlidays! 🎄🐾

1. Crate your dog- The crate is your dog's quiet place that they go to for much needed sleep. During the holiday madness, it also allows them to escape the commotion, noise, or unwanted interactions with guests.

2. Utilize a place command- This allows your dog to be a part of the festivities, but in a calm and
controlled way, that also eliminates unwanted or unnecessary interactions or issues.

3. Exercise them- Take them for their daily walk or throw the ball for them before guests arrive, or you leave for dinner. You don't need to "wear them out", but their daily exercise needs to be made a priority regardless of your holiday plans.

4. ALWAYS ADVOCATE FOR YOUR DOG- Everyone has at least one family member or friend who insists on getting dogs excited, forcing unwanted or unnecessary interactions with them, or feeding them human food. All of these can be potentially dangerous. It's not your job to manage feelings, it's your job to advocate for your dog.

A visit to the Vet can be a stressful experience for your dog, even for just a basic wellness exam. Veterinary clinics are filled with so many smells, sounds and sights that can easily overwhelm or overstimulate your dog. From the initial entrance into the building, to the technician getting the history in the exam room, and the Vet examining, physically touching, palpating, vaccinating. These are all things that can easily overwhelm ANY dog. It’s a big deal, even for the most stable and sound temperament of dogs. So, here are a few things you can start doing to make a trip to the Vet a better and safer experience for everyone involved!

1. Muzzle train your dog. EVERY dog should be muzzle trained, whether they’re the sweetest at the Vet, or it’s not so much their favorite place. Even the most mild tempered, calm dogs can react or bite if they’re ever sick or injured, because they’re stressed. Having a strange person poking and prodding them can quickly turn into a a dog bite. Muzzles keep everyone safe!

2. Bring a pouch of high value treats for the visit, so you can reward your dog for the good behavior you want. Marking and rewarding good behavior will teach the dog to repeat the behavior in the future.

3. Practice leash manners! Leash manners and having a dog walk calmly beside you makes entering and exiting the exam room and building MUCH more pleasant. Leash manners keeps your dog from pulling you around, especially if you’re passing another dog or even a cat in a carrier. Those other animals OR people might be terrified to be at the Vet or scared of dogs or specific breeds/sizes of dog. It also keeps your dog safe from other dogs who might not be so dog friendly and can prevent an unwanted incident.

4. Do some basic obedience training with your dog so that they aren’t jumping all over the staff, and can sit/stand for their exam. Vets have a job to do and a specific window of time in which to examine each animal, whether they’re in good health or not. Having a dog that has basic obedience skills makes for an easier experience for everyone.

Hi! I'm Heather Aziz, and I'm a Professional Dog Trainer and the Owner/Operator of Canine Karma Training- Pennsylvania, LLC, located in Littlestown, PA. I provide a variety of dog training services such as private in-home lessons, board and trains, day training, and virtual lessons (not local).

I previously owned and operated a dog walking/sitting service, worked for many years in the Veterinary field, but my true passion has always been training dogs. I have owned and trained Rottweilers for almost 25 years, in everything from basic and advanced obedience to competition in a variety of dog sports, earning several different titles. It's truly a way of life for me.

My driving force for taking the leap into turning my passion into a career began when I adopted my female Rottweiler, Ryott, who came with aggression and a multitude of other behavior issues. I had never experienced this before and needed professional help with her. With my dedication and the guidance of my mentor, Canine Karma Training, I was able to build an incredible relationship with Ryott and rehabilitate her through her issues, igniting an even deeper passion for training. Because of my passion and commitment, I had the privilege of serving an apprenticeship under Canine Karma Training in Stafford, Virginia, working with many different breeds with a variety of different behavior issues and obedience levels, to become a Professional Dog Trainer. I’ve now expanded the Canine Karma Training brand to Pennsylvania, servicing the South Central PA and Northern Maryland counties.

I am a huge advocate for complete canine wellness and health. Training, canine fitness and nutrition- you name it, I'm deeply passionate about it.

If you'd like to contact me for training services, please email me at [email protected] or go to caninekarma-pa.com to submit a training inquiry through my "Contact" form.
