Cannon Canine Training, LLC

Cannon Canine Training, LLC Relationship based dog training and behavior modification. Located in Littlestown, PA. I am a Reward-Based, Balanced Trainer. I am NOT your typical dog trainer.

Can’t imagine living my life any other way 🥹
These 3 dogs have been an absolute joy to train and I am incredibly proud of each of them. All 3 go home over the next few weeks and I’ll miss their sweet personalities but I’m so excited for each of them to thrive back in their homes 🫶

LOVE when my clients send me updates on their dogs 🥹 Axl is an absolutely MASSIVE 17 month old English Mastiff and his owners are incredibly dedicated to his training. He’s gone from pulling on leash, pulling his Mom down, chasing things, lunging at delivery driver trucks, school buses, the kids, etc; to now not only walking nicely, but overall has a much more calm demeanor. I’m so proud of Axl’s owners for putting in the hard work to be successful 🙌 Besides everything mentioned above…isnt he beautiful?! 🖤

Ryott is living, breathing proof, that you CAN overcome hurdles and challenges with your dog. There’s been an influx in conversations I’ve had recently where people aren’t wanting to stress their newly adopted dog out. Dogs are SO resilient. The moment your dog comes into your home, it’s forward motion only. There is no room for putting our human emotions onto them. They live in the moment and any fear we humans project onto them only hinders their progress and ability to overcome obstacles. I’m not at all saying it’s easy or will happen overnight, but they AREN’T made of glass and you’d be pleasantly surprised at what they can overcome.

Ryott had her past life for 2 years before she came to our home and the moment she stepped foot in our door, training began and we haven’t looked back…over 5 years later. She’s an AWESOME dog. She always has been. I put the time, consistency and effort into her training and well being and never once felt the need to let her past life dictate her ability and potential and I can take her anywhere and do anything I want with her now. It wasn’t easy but I didn’t give up and neither should you.

Welcome Sky, to Cannon Canine Training!

Sky is a 2.5 year old Labrador, here for the next 30 days to work on general obedience, leash pulling, impulse control, confidence building and to eliminate his demanding/pushy behavior. Sky has had previous training but he hasn’t learned that HE isn’t in charge of his owners/household. We’re going to change that!

Follow Sky’s transformative journey over the next 30 days! 🖤🙌

I never know the right words to say when I receive a compliment, let alone an incredible review. I’m getting better at taking compliments and not getting awkward about it lol, but I’m still completely dumbfounded that my clients have such incredible feedback from their experience with me as their/their dog’s trainer.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for being here, following along this journey and for trusting me with your dogs. It means the absolute world to me. I’m an absolute nobody, who just wants to help people be successful with their dogs 🫶

Welcome Sirena to Cannon Canine Training! 🌼

Sirena is a 4 year old Lab x Cattle dog/herding breed, here as a Board and Train for the next 45 days. Our goals are to firstly, help her gain confidence and also to help her learn that things aren’t her way or the highway! She’s learned that displaying certain herding breed behaviors as well as being demanding gets her what she wants. She is also very timid and nervous but is actually very sweet! I’m very excited to help this sweet girl blossom into her true potential!!

Welcome, Rylie! 🤍

Rylie is an 18 month old Labrador, newly adopted by her family that includes 2 other Labs. She’s here as a Board and Train and we’ll be focusing on everything from basic obedience such as sit, down commands and proper leash walking to learning to peacefully coexist with her housemates!

I’m excited to have been chosen as Rylie’s (and her owners’) partner in training over the next several weeks and look forward to helping her transform into her best self! Stay tuned to watch this sweet girl grow!

Not my typical post, but here goes…

I firmly believe that there would be less (I say less, not zero) behavioral issues in dogs if the general public would research breeds before deciding to bring a dog into their home. FIRST- owning a dog is a privilege, it’s absolutely NOT a need. There’s nothing written that one must own a dog. That being said, if and when you do decide to bring a dog into your home, please consider the breed and breed traits (and health issues) before signing up for a very long life with an animal that completely depends on YOU for their every need.

If you’re an avid runner/adventurer, get a breed that suits that lifestyle. If you’re a homebody, or have a family with kids, and you’re dead set on owning a Labrador Retriever, talk to *ethical* breeders and get on a waiting list for a laid back/mellow puppy, not a field/working line dog. You want a big, floofy Great Pyrenees? Cool. Get a farm and livestock for that dog to thrive because living in your apartment or on 1/4 acre in an HOA neighborhood won’t satisfy that dog’s needs. Just brought home a Terrier? Awesome. Hope it has an outlet for everything it requires to be happy and fulfilled and you aren’t trying to make it your fur baby couch companion.

Additionally, you should have a plan in motion WELL before you bring a puppy or newly adopted dog home. Consider the expenses of not only purchasing the puppy/dog, but training should happen immediately when the dog arrives home, not wait until you are having issues, as well as vet bills, food, emergencies (I highly recommend looking into pet insurance for all things Veterinary care).

If you do adopt a dog that comes with behavior issues, seek out a trainer immediately. Don’t try to fix things yourself. Don’t expect the dog to just saunter into your home, climb up on the couch and just “learn to co exist peacefully” and “outgrow” behaviors. It doesn’t work line that. Stop taking the easy way out and really understand that YOU will need to make changes to YOUR life. There are no quick fixes.

Lastly, dogs aren’t emotional dumping grounds for humans. It’s not about YOUR needs, it’s about the dog.
