Meadowlark isn't sure what to think of this whole thing in her mouth....she is pretty certain if she rubs her face on the dirt of the tire it should come out. 😆 #MustangMeadowlark #bittraining

Before the crazy cold came in Meadowlark learned how to pony. This was the end result after really not wanting to come with us initially. Ponying helps them get used to people being above them and prep them for riding in many ways, as well as give them confidence in what we are doing by having another horse there.

Part of training a good horse is about developing a relationship/partnership with the horse. If you start them right, help intrigue their curiosity and teach them to think, and let them think and process while showing them you are a leader that can be trusted, it just develops naturally. In this video I had just finished working Meadowlark with a saddle on, took it off, let her check it out, and turned her loose to be a horse a do what she wanted. Not once was I actually asking her to follow me, yet she did it multiple times back and forth. And yes of course I am going to acknowledge what she did with some pets. I always love the moment this happens. 💕🐴
There's a little visitor that comes out at night. Tonight it came out to help feed....
Meadowlark has been getting used to things on her back, hanging off the side, has had her first saddling, and is wearing the "big girl" saddle now. She's been a bit unsure and lazy about the whole process but has taken to it all quite well. #MustangMeadowlark #whhtraining #BLMmustang #BLMmare #saddletraining #growingup
