This is a work in progress that I believe will be the first of its kind in the US if it eventually passes.

BIG NEWS EVERYONE! Community Equestrian is working with state representative Lindsey Daugherty to prepare an Equestrian Bill of Rights for the next legislative session! While there are multiple issues we have been working on this year, and we will continue to pursue paths forward on them, we felt that this was the best target to set for our first big initiative.

December 2nd marks one year since our fellow equestrian Laura Wolf and her horse Griffin were hit by a motorist in Arvada and sparked our community into action. Griffin's life was lost, but it is not forgotten, and it has inspired many people to work toward solutions this year to address equestrian safety and rights.

We will be holding a community meeting at the G&J Lazy P Stables on November 18 at 6pm, to present this Bill of Rights, an overview of the accomplishments made this year by your advocacy groups in Jefferson County, and goals going forward. Please join us! Lindsey Daugherty will be joining us, and we are hoping our horse community will show up in force in cowboy hats as a show of solidarity and support. Community Equestrian, the Jefferson County Horse Council, the Arvada Area Horsemen's Association and other community partners will be distributing this announcement and invitation to their members this week. Community Equestrian's invite list includes:

1. Government leaders from Arvada, Jefferson County, and State government

2. Horse Industry Representatives: Barn Owners/Managers, Trainers, Equine Veterinarians, Feed/Supply/Tack retailers

3. Horse Organization Representatives: advocacy groups, trail riding clubs, driving clubs, competition organizations, various nonprofit and rescue groups

4. Community partners: Ralston Valley Coalition, McIntyre Neighbors United, Colorado Mountain Bike Association, the Community Farm

5. Media: Colorado Community Media, The Colorado Sun, 9News, others tbd

We are so incredibly excited to gather in the same barn as we did after losing Griffin nearly a year ago, this time to celebrate progress and share with you our determination to support change. Let's pack the house! We've set up online options in case we reach capacity on site, see the flyer for details. Thank you for your support and hope to see you there!

Please do your research and vote no on proposition 129. While they are making it sound like a great idea and comparing it to a PA it is quite different. There is little to no hands on training in the curriculum and it is being pushed by corporate as a way for corporations to make more more money by hiring less vets and replacing them with VPA's.

Supporters of Proposition 129 say it would alleviate a vet shortage but opponents say it would be dangerous for pets.

If you shop at King Soopers consider supporting Wild Hearts Haven. A handful of the horses are here (Magnolia, Marsha, Heath, and Midge) and I donate my time to work with them. It takes just a few minutes of your time to sign up and then King Soopers gives money back based on your purchases.
