Twenty-four years ago today, this little guy was born into the world! We had no clue how much his arrival would change our lives!
Of course, it was three more months before we would actually meet him. But the stage was set, he was just waiting for us to find him!
Oh NO, he wasn’t an easy puppy who made us think, “This dog thing is a piece of cake!!” He was ornery and beyond…all the days of his life!
He pushed us out of our comfort zones, pushed us to learn, pushed us to change, and pushed us to be better human beings. But best of all, he pushed our capacity to love!
His love, his teachings and his presence has continued to live on through the six others who have graced our life with their presence. And, yep, that’s on him! He did that!
Happy Heavenly Birthday, !
You may be gone, but you are never forgotten, and you are loved forever!

Every time you hear a squeak an Angel is whispering in your ear!! No promises as to which Angel…it could be Pebbles being bossy, Joey trying to get you into trouble, or Benji imparting words of wisdom!

Pebbles, it has been two years since you physically left us and almost four years since the sassy, spunky, smiley, sweet, sparkly Pebbles, who bossed her brothers around, styled her hair amazingly, had her Daddy wrapped around her paw and was Mommy’s shadow, started to fade.
In so many ways, dementia took you from us before you actually left us, but also in so many ways, we were blessed to have all those extra years, months, weeks, days and moments with you! They weren’t always easy moments. At times we struggled with how to make your life the best it could be, but every time we hit a low, you always rallied! You found your rhythm on the hiking trail, you lit up when the treats and the snacks came out, you remembered your voice and reminded your brothers that you were the boss, you smothered us in kisses!
You never forgot how much you loved us, and we did our best to show you every day how much we loved you…and still do! Dementia never won when it came to LOVE!
The other thing dementia can’t take from us…our memories of you!! You live on in our thoughts, our memories, our photos and our videos!
The joyful, adventurous and happy Pebbles lives in our hearts and our minds!
Thank you, Pebbles, for teaching us to be better humans, for teaching us patience and acceptance, for teaching us love in the face of adversity, for teaching us perseverance!

Ten years ago today, the most amazing little man came into our lives!
The one, the only ! There will never be another like him!
I had no idea the impact Benji would have on our lives, but looking back, I can 100% say that God brought him into our lives on purpose and for a reason.
I just loved watching him take in the world around him. He was so appreciative of life, so good at reminding us to slow down, so good at being present and so good at showing the world that anything is possible!
Life with Benji was always an adventure! From the time he sniffed out fresh cow manure and walked right into it! To his ability to always find a comfy place to lie down. To his awesome dancing skills, i.e. p*e kicks! To his hilarious collard green chomping! To his amazing DJ skills…being deaf, didn’t mean he couldn’t carry a beat. To all the times he decided the way I wanted him to pose was not the right way and turned his back to me instead. To his ability to always express what he liked and what he didn’t like…never hesitating to be opinionated!
We have been changed for good because we knew him!

We have no doubt, that all of you, just like us, have been devastated to hear and read about everyone impacted by the LA wildfires. Our hearts are broken for all the loss! But, amidst the chaos we are seeing so many people stepping up, going above and beyond and showing care and compassion…one of the best human traits!!
Best Friends Animal Society is working around-the-clock to ensure the safety of the pets in their care while also working to support families and shelters in the LA community:
Best Friends has accepted over 260 animals from LA animal welfare groups! They are working to free up space in LA so they can continue to take in pets from area rescues and shelters (like Pasadena Humane) who need assistance.
Over 150 Best Friends animals are in foster care in LA! Amazing foster volunteers help ensure their shelter has space to take in animals in need.
Best Friends and Wings of Rescue flew 84 cats and dogs from Burbank to Utah last Saturday!
They are coordinating other transports to move homeless animals out of Los Angeles and to a safe place where they can find a loving home. (The animals being transported are homeless animals, not lost or displaced pets.)
Best Friends greatest need right now, is for donations:
They need monetary donations to fund transports, overtime for staff working around the clock, meals for staff, veterinary care, animal and transport supplies, and more.
Donations to Best Friends’ emergency response fund will be used exclusively to support lifesaving work in the Los Angeles area.

Little Lady is 17 Months old today! It feels like she’s been with us forever, and yet, she’s still just a pup!
Her hashtag of still fits perfectly! She’s a busy body! Constantly monitoring everything going on around her. (Or as she would say…she’s the best guard dog there ever was!) She loves investigating and checking out everything she comes across. If it will fit in her mouth, she’ll even give it a taste test.
She can either be found sleeping hard or constantly moving. There’s no in between for her! And, she believes her brothers should subscribe to that philosophy, as well. She’s constantly badgering them to play with her! Luckily, one of them is always up for a go at Wrestlemania!
She adores laps!! And, isn’t too picky about whose lap! If there’s a lap available, she’s in it!
She also has huge ups! Her vertical jump is quite impressive! But, of course, she only uses it when it suits her, or when she’s trying to get to something. Ask her to up, and she’ll look at you like she’s incapable of jumping, and how dare you ask her to do something she’s incapable of!!
She keeps us on our toes, constantly entertained, and always nice and warm with her snuggles!!

National Hugging Day

My heart has been eased, a bit. This week, Benji joined Joey & Pebbles at #AngelsRest at #BestFriendsAnimalSanctuary. . There are now a P, a B & a J together at our memorial. . The chimes sang loud and clear during Benji’s blessing and kept right on playing as we sat there taking in all that is Angels Rest. In my opinion, it’s one of the most beautiful places on Earth. While each memorial represents loss, they also represent love and devotion. Add that love and devotion to nature’s beauty, and the serenity and peace that fill the area, top it off with the music of the wind chimes…and there is no doubt when we are there we are surrounded by Angels. . I know Benji was DJing from Heaven, as I watched our windchime swinging bigger than any other surrounding us. Our hearts are broken, but there is peace knowing that he is at ease, standing side by side with his brother and sister, watching over us, reminding us to follow his teachings… .
