Heart of Niagara Animal Rescue's purpose is to protect the health and welfare of abandoned, unwanted and homeless companion dogs which will help reduce the staggering number of innocent animals senselessly killed each day.

Looking for our pure-bred miniature schnauzer fans!! This adorable little guy, named Wallie, is 13 weeks old, and 7 lbs of fluffy. He is looking for a family to love. Heart of Niagara wants to share with you a fundraiser, not for HON, but for Flights to Furever, our Texas rescue partner. Many of the beautiful dogs you see on our fb and website came from this highly dedicated group of volunteers in Uvalde, Texas. They rescue abandoned, abused and homeless dogs from the streets, and pups in local shelters that are listed for euthanasia. They get them fosters, treat their pains, vet check, and transport them to rescues here ( like HON) to find love in their forever homes.
This all takes $$. So if you can attend the event, please do, or stop by to drop off a donation. And "Thank you" for caring.

New arrival to HON- meet Dudley!! Dudley is a 21 week old, male, Mini aussie doodle. He is very sweet and loves to cuddle with people. Unfortunately, prior to this point, he has not been properly socialized and does have some issues with other dogs. The best home for Dudley would be a home with no other animals that has a human that will take him to training classes right from the start. He needs socialization and a chance to work on some behavior modification. He will be an awesome companion if given a chance. An awesome companion isn't just a great cuddle buddy ( which he is already), but also a dog that is confident in social situations. He needs to build his confidence. We are so happy to announce that one of our companions that has waited 3+ yrs to find his forever home- has found it today!! Cash is starting this weekend in his own home. He was so happy this morning his tail never stopped wagging. We all love Cash here and will miss him, but we are so proud of how far he has come since he arrived. He was a big pup that didn't know his own strength and would plow everyone to the ground. Now he walks on leash and knows "off" ( and sit...). He has finally found the right fit- a patient owner that has the time to continue his training, a large fenced yard for his zoomies, and a family to love. Congratulations!! Luci has some exciting news today- starting at 50lbs when she arrived to us, she NOW weighs 34 lbs!!! Great job Luci!!

After months of healing and recovery from a major skin infection, our handsome boy- Zero the hero- is healthy, feeling good, and looking great with all that new hair growth! And now he's happy to say that he has FOUND A FOREVER HOME!! We will really miss him at the rescue. We wish him and his new mom a happy life ❤🥰 Please let us know how he's doing 😊

It's with deep sadness that I have to say we have lost one of our special pups today. Ringo, 10 yr+10mo old blue heeler, passed away in his sleep due to health issues that had plagued him for some time. He suffered through seizures, blindness, and in the end it was believed he had a brain tumor that ended his life. Due to those issues, and aggressive issues toward strangers, he had spent his whole life with us here at the rescue. I personally loved this little guy, and he knew it. He would crawl up on my lap, place his head on my shoulder, and lick my face. We did all we could for him and I want to thank Dr. Kristen Ruest for the compassionate care he received through The Village Vet of Lewiston. She extended the time we had with our boy as long as she could. I love you Ringo, Rest in Peace handsome boy.
