We wanted to share a wonderful update on one of our adopted rescues- Maisy (2yr 8 mo. Aussie mix adopted oct 2022). Miss Maisy has been a very busy girl! She and her "mom" have been attending training classes that have resulted in this rescue girl earning in 2024 : intermediate trick dog title, a fast CAT title, canine good citizen, beginner titles in AKC and CPE agility, and beginner novice title in AKC obedience.
We are constantly telling our adopters of the bonding values of taking their companion to training. How a small investment early on can reap a lifetime of benefit for the future.
Maisy's family has stated that she goes everywhere with them without fear of behavioral issues.
One added note- Maisy has acheived all of this AFTER having recovered from a luxating patella surgery in 2023.

Lily and her family came today to drop off her yearly donation to our rescued companions. She saved her money throughout the year and bought 10 xlarge bags of food, toys, treats, canned food and more for our pups ($800 worth). We can NEVER thank you enough for your kindness to our rescue. We wish you and your family a VERY HAPPY & HEALTHY 2025!!

As 2024 nears its final few days...and we look ahead to 2025 (and all those New Year Resolutions just waiting to be made), let Heart of Niagara help you keep those resolutions.

You want more exercise...come walk a dog.
You want to feel needed...come volunteer.
You want to save a life...foster a dog!!!!

Make a difference, as a family project for 2025, and temporarily foster a dog in need of a second chance at life. There are SO MANY in need!!!!!
When we help a rescue by taking in a dog they have pulled from their local shelters euthanasia list it allows them to pull more dogs from that same list - saving even more lives. YOU could be part of that effort. A wonderful way to teach your children about compassion, kindness, and community.

We are always looking for walking volunteers, event volunteers, and foster families!!!
