Thornton is an active member of the Protection Sports Association (PSA), an association that provides an outlet for civilian competition in canine obedience and controlled protection and the promotion of excellence, sportsmanship and integrity throughout the dog training community. Thornton is also an active member of DVG America (Deutscher Verband der Gebraughshundsportvereine), the oldest and largest Schutzhund training organization in the world that exists for one purpose – the training and titling of all breeds of dog.
