Cooler weather is coming be prepared. Straw will reflect body heat back to a cat and actually repels moisture. Straw is tough, thick, dry leftover stalks from crops. It's lightweight and golden in color. Straw has a hollow center which makes for great insulation (just like double pane windows).

Do NOT use hay (OR blankets) for bedding in outdoor cat shelters. Hay is green and heavy. Hay is typically used to feed animals, like horses. It absorbs moisture, making it damp, cold and uncomfortable for cats, and has the potential to get moldy.

You can buy straw bales at your local co-op, farm/ag supply stores, local garden center/nursery, Home Depot, Lowe's, Tractor Supply or Ace Hardware. We’ve even seen bales of straw being sold outside grocery stores along with pumpkins. Farms selling pumpkins often sell bales of straw too.

Don’t need a whole bale? Perfect time of year to go by Walmart, JoAnns, Micheals etc. for their small decorative bales. They should be on clearance for a couple dollars.

Doggie pool party tomorrow July 13th!!! Russellville Tractor Supply 10am-2pm 🐶🐶

There will be a small doggie agility course set up, 3 splash pads and treat tasting table! Bring the kiddos to color for the color contest!

*They will have a giant fan set up to help dry wet pets, but will not have any towels on hand.

Hello friends!

The total solar eclipse is just around the corner, and just about everyone is ready to see the once in a lifetime event. We are seeing some mixed information about pet/wildlife safety.

Contrary to what some may read, the sun itself is not any more dangerous during the eclipse. The reason protective eye wear is recommended for humans (who wish to observe the eclipse) is because many of us will be staring directly at the sun that day, which is something we typically avoid.

For our pets, and outdoor wildlife, that day will be similar to any other day. Our pets don’t stare at the sun, so there is no need to keep them indoors on April 08 for any extended period of time. They may notice the change in temperature, but it is unlikely they will exhibit any unusual behaviour.

The eclipse can be more unsettling for birds. The dimming of the sky can mimic behaviour at dusk and during early storm formation, so some birds may demonstrate a wind-down behaviour and there may be less activity in the sky during the peak eclipse. Once the sky returns to normal, so does their behaviour.

“For me, the e-collar is a forever thing 💞✨ Do my dogs wear their e-collars all day in the house? No. But if they are off leash, they will always wear them. Why? Because there is always a WHAT IF. What if one day my dog decides to blow off my recall and chases a bird towards a road? Cause that’s totally something Finley would do 😂 I have two hard-headed high drive dogs who love to run, so I need some sort of leverage over them for those just-in-case moments. I have peace of mind knowing they are running free but I could still get their attention even at half a mile away. Don’t be in such a hurry to get rid of the tools. If they are working, keep it up 💞☺️”

Who’s looking for a fur baby to add to their family?? We still have a few available! I have evaluated them and have a good idea of who would make great working dogs (like service/therapy, search and rescue, hunting) and who would make a great pet or adventure buddy so let me know what you are looking for and we will see who would be best for you! They have all done some crate training and will be on the pretty darn easy side to potty train from what I can tell so far!! Let us know if you might be interested. They are 9 weeks on Thursday, have had their first round of puppy shots and have routinely been de-wormed. They have been socialized with anything we can find 😂 Cats, kittens, big dogs, little dogs, goats, chickens, pigs, kids of the human type also😉……
