🐾 Wanna know how to clock your kitten BaBee’Z age? Here’s a quick lowdown! 🐈‍⬛🐈 1️⃣ Eyes: When they’re just born, their ojos 👀 are shut tight. But around 1-2 weeks, they start cracking them open. Fully open eyes? They’re hitting that 2-3 week mark. 2️⃣ Ears: About 3 weeks in, those ears start perking up. 3️⃣ Teeth: Teeth game be strong! Baby teeth show up around 2-4 weeks, then they swap ’em out for the adult set around 4-6 months. 4️⃣ Walk and strut: At 3 weeks, they start wobbling around, but by 4-5 weeks, they’re strutting like they own the block. 5️⃣ Fur flex: Their coat gets fuller and fluffier around 4-6 weeks. Artificial turf is a game changer! I finally decided to try it out, mainly for BaBee DiLy and dang, should have done it sooner!! Da Feline BaBeeZ love it también! Reasons to level up on the turf especially for city dwellin’ BaBeeZ : Expandin’ Territory: I’ve never believed in cramped cribs for animals, especially bunnies. Every new place I’ve moved to I would find ways to expand DiLy’s area and make sure he gets exercise. Even took the feline BaBeeZ out for walks. On this throwback, I reflect back to my time in TNR. Last year, before the bullsh*t hit, I got involved with TNR work through a great organization, The Little Lion Foundation. I was mentored by an amazing crew who taught me everything I needed to know about trappin’. It was a major high for me to get out on the streets to trap dem BaBeeZ and get to know/work with the gente out in the communities. I hope to get back at it soon. You ever heard of TNR?! It stands for Trap-Neuter-Return, and it’s a crucial part of this Feline Rescue Game! 🐈‍⬛🐈 TNR is a humane method of controlling the feral cat population. Here’s how it works: 🔄 1️⃣ Trap: Cats are trapped using humane traps. 2️⃣ Neuter/Spay: Once trapped, they’re taken to a vet to be spayed or neutered (They are also assessed and vaccinated) 3️⃣ Return: After recovery, cats are returned to their original location. PART 3 of Twinkie, da Cayman Islands BaBee Rescue Story Transferring a BaBee overseas requires a lot of documentation, well I mean not too much, but enough to create a bulky file! Also, in order for her to be accepted into the Feline Good Social Club, she had to have met all the requirements. Yes, that is correct, we just don’t pull BaBeeZ off the street and put them in the lounge, there are safety protocols! All BaBeeZ must be up to date on vaccinations, have to be spayed or neutered, microchipped, and tested for FeLV and FIV. *For those who think it’s ok to dump BaBeeZ in front of cat lounges, facilities, etc, it’s NOT! First off it’s illegal AF, most facilities have camera monitoring and if you get caught, you done! Also, imma cut you (jk, but am I tho?) AnywayZ, so yeah, Twinkie was a great candidate for our feline lounge. She was there barely two weeks and someone put in for an adoption application! The whole crew in da LB and the Cayman Islands were so pumped for her! She’s now living her best and cozy life with her human and she be chillin’, elevatin’, and dominatin’, to her true Gato State. Not only is he a doctor for all kinds of animal BaBeeZ, he was willing to put in some miles of travel to get one of his beloved feline BaBeeZ a better chance at getting adopted! The Cayman Islands Humane Society definitely took a hit after the pandemic hit and with strict rental regulations for tenants, adoption rates for the shelter have plummeted. So, it’s not that Twinkie was “un adoptable”, she’s cute and chill AF, she was just not in the right spot. For this week’s throwback, here is PART 1 of Twinkie da Cayman Islands BaBee Rescue Story….our farthest rescue to date. Throwback to January 2024…we received an email from a veterinarian living and working in Grand Cayman (Island in the Cayman Islands). He found Feline Good Social Club and Long Beach Felines on social media. @felinegoodsocialclub @longbeachfelines He reached out to us to let us know about a sweet and beautiful mama tabby that was surrendered with her BaBee kittens. All her BaBeeZ were adopted but she was overlooked for over 2 years. He really took a liking to dis BaBee MaMa and felt so bad that she hadn’t been adopted yet. Well, he was due to travel to Los Angeles in mid February and was inquiring if we had any space available for her. I mean, damn, how could we turn that down?! A Cayman Islands BaBee?! Come on! Let’s Gooo! @spirorchid3 @caymanhumane *For those haters who are thinking, “why don’t you help your local BaBeeZ?!” - we do help them 24/7, lot of behind the scenes no one can even imagine! Also, we don’t discriminate, if someone is really willing to reach out to us and make that kind of rescue effort and we have the space, yeah we gonna help- mind your biZness…* AnywayZ…so long story short, I reached back out to Cayman Islands Humane Society and Dr. Bitmead.
