Hi all. I need help for a client of mine. She has 3 dogs. However, she is being forced out of the house she has been renting for over 20 years. The place she is going to will only allow 2 dogs. She doesn't want to put her dog, Lucky, in the pound. He is an older dog, doesn't bark, only demands going out to do his business. He is a poodle mix, about 20 lbs. If anyone can adopt him, let me know. I will put you in touch with the owner.

Finally tested negative for covid. Yeah!!!!! This has been an interesting year, as I previously said. This past week, one of my neighbors heard something that sounded like a loose tire rim. Turned out, he was right. It was coming from the trailer. 2 of the lug bolts were sheared off, and the rest of the lug nuts were loose. I was grounded. Fortunately, I found a company that could come out and do the repair the next day. Tony's Mobile Repairs. They did a great job, were friendly, and I was able to at least get one grooming done. I look forward to 2024 to be a better year.

Still testing positive. This is so frustrating.

11/23/2023

So, I haven't posted in a while. It's been an interesting year. And, now, I have tested positive for Covid. Took 3 1/2 years to get it. And, let me tell you, it drains you of energy. I can only handle a little activity before I tire out. Not my favorite disease, I can't go out to groom till I test negative.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

This little Maltipoo was in such bad shape. Took 2 hours to get the body pelt off (he had a head piece that looked like a helmet), and a half hour to free his tail. I don't know how long he was like that. He was much happier afterwards. Poor little guy. One of the photos is just the pelt and tail mat. I see him in 3 months, letting him grow his fur out a bit. Almost looked like a Jack Russell when I was done.

So, this past Monday morning, I was getting ready to go to my first appointment, taking fresh towels out to the trailer, and when I opened the door, I noticed some things were missing. And, it's things I need to do my work. I then proceeded to call the police, fill out a report of the missing items (4 pages), call insurance to start a claim, and then let all my clients for the week know that I can't do anything till most of the items are replaced. I'm dead in the water, so to speak. None of the neighbors can believe it, this is a relatively quiet neighborhood. 9 years we've lived here, and this has never occurred. Hopefully, the insurance will move swiftly so I can get back to working. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Had a bit of a traumatic event today. As I was driving home, I witnessed a bull terrier attacking a Boston terrier, viciously. He was dragging the Boston terrier by the neck. Eventually, there were enough of us coming to the Boston terrier's owners rescue, that they separated. Somehow, the bull terrier's owner saw a Facebook post about the dogs fight, and contacted the poster that the bull terrier had just gone home. I told the other owner that as far as I was concerned, the bull terrier's owners should pay for any vet bills that arise. We had another dog that was with the bull terrier, but it wasn't attacking, and was a sweet little dog. He was wagging his tail when I talked to him, and tried to give me a lick on the cheek. I hope all works out. For every one.

So, this past Friday saw a rarity. I had to cancel my afternoon appointments due to weather. Specifically, high winds. I'm okay working in rain, and even somewhat windy weather, but the winds Friday were scary high. And driving a high profile trailer was not an option. The winds were bad enough to remove a couple of panels from the back porch cover. Been there 9 years, and survived big winds. But not the ones on Friday. Luckily, today is calm and cool. Can't wait to see the snow on the mountains.

Happy New Year to all my wonderful clients! May you enjoy a happy, healthy year, filled with all you could hope for.

I am amazed that I am booked into Feb. It's a dream, for me, to say that. Actually, that happened as of last month. So, I know people are looking for groomers around this time of year, since they want their pups to look good for the holidays. This experience of being booked through the holidays is not new, even for me. It's been this way for many years. If I lived in the northern climates, I would have some time off in January and February. But I live in Southern California, and grooming happens all year. So, Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.

09/23/2022

So, as I said before, I am booked all the way to January. When I tell people that, especially prospective clients, it's always "Wow, good for you that you're so busy." Which it is. Now, I always tell new clients that it is a good idea to set up a recurring schedule so they know when I'm going to come, and so they don't fall victim to not being able to set up the next appointment till way after they would like. Today is a good example of that. A client called wanting to set up an appointment in November. I told her I am booked till 2023. Don't know if I'll see her again, which is a shame. But, I can't do anything about that. Wish I could. But, I'm not Superman.

09/19/2022

Well, here's something I never thought I'd say at this time of the year, but....I am booked all the way to the new year. No more available appointments in 2022. 😁

Today was the fundraiser for Seal Beach Animal Care Center. It was fun, good food, nice people, good wine. I won a Wine Country store gift basket with 2 wines and a gift certificate. One of the people at our table was excited to see the dog he's adopting on the T.V. They are a group that will rescue dogs and cats and keep them as long as they needed. Meaning they are a no-kill rescue. If this is something that interests you, please send a donation. Or, if you are looking for a companion pet, they can help you in that endeavor as well.

Just found out from a client that my website is down. No wonder I haven't gotten any requests from it in a while. Had to contact my web admin about it. Hopefully, this can be resolved quickly. So, if you need to contact me, you can use the messanger app, or text me, or call.
Happy 4th of July!

So, COVID seems to still rage. I have had a couple of cancellations over the past couple of weeks due to clients contracting this. Thankful that they are letting me know ahead of time. I have been blessed with not contracting it over the past 2 years. I was hoping to get my second booster shot in the fall, so I am hoping this current wave subsides.

05/19/2022

I haven't posted in a while, since I haven't had a day where I am not busy. Right now, I am 3 months out before the next open appointments. Ah, to be busy.

10/16/2021

So, I had to cancel an appointment for tomorrow due to possible canine flu. This is a highly contagious disease. If your dog exhibits cough or sneezing, lethargy, high fever, runny nose, excessive eye discharge and reduced appetite, then get to an emergency veterinarian as soon as you can. I wouldn't take the dog into the waiting room, though. You don't want to spread it. And, according to L.A. veterinarians, it is an outbreak in the county. If your dog is sociable, goes to a dog park or beach, they can pick it up from an infected dog. I want all our furry friends to remain healthy. So, please keep an eye out.

I want to address an issue that has come up. Mind you, for me, it's good, but for some clients, it's not so good. I have found myself to have booked appointments all the way to Christmas. That means, I don't have any current available appointments till after Christmas, and those prior to New Years are very sparse. I know some of you like to call in every now and then, to book an appointment, but that is becoming untenable. Most of the current wave of clients are also having me put their dogs on a yearly schedule, thereby filling up available times. I want everyone to know that I do value all my clients, both past and future. But, I can only do so much as an individual. For those who need immediate assistance, I will reach out to the mobile community to see who is in the area that can take either new or emergency groomings. But, also know, a lot of the groomers are in the same boat as I am. Thank you for all your support.

This past week was kinda sad. I learned that a long time client was moving this weekend. I groomed Padfoot, the lab, for the last time on Monday. Sweet dog. Also, another client is moving into the greater Los Angeles area, and I don't service there. So, I may have groomed her two dogs for the last time, also on Monday. Learned that 2 dogs passed on.
On a brighter note, I am still extremely busy. I am booked all the way into November, excepting any cancellations. That pattern of over 2 months out has been holding since early Spring. Summer has been fun.

08/02/2021

So, I learned the valuable lesson of making sure you back up stuff on the computer, especially bookkeeping software. I hadn't done it in 6 months, so that when my computer died, guess what, I was S-O-L! So, after getting my new computer, I had to spend 3 weeks bringing it up to date. But it's done. And guess what! It's all backed up. And will be backed up when prompted by the app. You're never to old to learn the importance of that lesson.
However, thank you OneDrive, for having all my pictures and documents available on the cloud. Whew!!!!!!

I have a client who lives in Lakewood, and has 4 dogs. Problem is, Lakewood only allows residents to have "2 dogs and 2 cats", as one person at the city droned to me when I considered moving there with 3 dogs. Anyway, she is looking to rehome 2 of them, a mother and son. They are Poodle mixes. Nice dogs, but she wants to make sure they aren't split up. If anyone has room for them, or knows of someone willing to take them, please contact me, and I will let the owner know.

I am happy to report that 2 Yorkies that have been in a house, pretty much by themselves, for the past year and a half, or so, have found a new home where someone can give them love, and play with them, and take care of them. I was able to facilitate the exchange between these 2 clients of mine, and all of us are just beaming for them. Sometimes my line of work just puts me in situations where I feel I can do something good.
