We lost our dear friend Ace yesterday. Potomac Horse Fever. I'll spare the details on his last few hours.

What I will share is this.

Ace came to us as a 15 year old, been there - done that gentleman in 2013. John bought him from a friend who bought him from a friend. Ace had ties with Mortonhouse Farm, even if indirectly, for most of his life. John said he'd make a great addition to our farm family and that Ace would be a perfect trail and lesson horse.

"Perfect" doesn't quite do this amazing soul justice.

What’s most remarkable to me is that, over the 12 years he was in our care, Ace gave of himself so freely. He willingly and joyfully carried literally hundreds of people on his back, creating memories that became some of the most cherished moments of their lives. He was even involved with a surprise wedding proposal!! From first rides to quiet walks in the fields, Ace seemed to understand the importance of his role—he wasn’t just giving rides, he was gifting people an experience of trust, connection, and joy. His legacy lives on in every smile, every lesson, and every bond he helped to create.

Thank you, Ace, for every step, every lesson, and every moment of grace you gave us. Your hoofprints will remain forever on our hearts.

A Playground For Horse Lovers

Tranquil & serene is the atmosphere at Mortonhouse Farm, in scenic Long Valley, NJ offering Boarding, Training, Lessons and Trail Riding. Our little privately owned paradise is open to all those wishing to experience an enriching bond with nature and animals. Our Lesson Program caters to children and adults in both Enlgish & Western disciplines with a strong emphasis on Foundation Training (also known as “Natural Horsemanship”) regardless of your experience level. Beginners learn about horse care and the fundamentals of riding in our large riding arena or out on the trails on safe and well trained horses. Experienced riders broaden their knowledge base while fine-tuning their seat, timing of aids, and feel, through groundwork and under saddle to strengthen the relationship and performance between horse and rider. Our experienced Trainer is dedicated to building a strong connection between each horse and rider, setting the horses well-being at the highest priority.
