The two main elevators were built in 1902, by two different companies. They were originally used to purchase wheat for flour mills. The east elevator later went on to become Lonsdale Grain and Feed Company, then Commander Elevators, then GTA, and finally Lonsdale Feed Mill in 1982. In 1982 Steve was approached by Tami’s uncle James Stangler (who also owned the Mill in Kilkenny, MN along with Stangler Seed) and asked if he would be willing to manage the Lonsdale Elevator. Somewhere along the line discussions went from managing to purchasing and on Nov. 3 1982 Lonsdale Feed Mill opened it’s door originally owning only the East Mill. The Vosejpkas purchased the West Elevator from James Stangler a few years later. This made it only the third time in over eighty years that the same company owned both Elevators. The first being GTA who then sold them to James Stangler and finally to Lonsdale Feed Mill. Over the years there have been many expansions and remodels. A 20,000 Bu. Grain Bin was erected in the early 90’s followed by a 45,000 bu Grain Bin in 1997. Only a year later in 1998 a 100 foot tall leg and a second dryer were added. In 2008 since the original dryer was worn out beyond repair it was disassembled and used to add two additional sections to the second dryer. In 2012 a 70,000 bu bin was errected on site. A year later the dryer which had become too small to keep up with the speed at which corn was coming in was replaced with a continuous flow dryer. Finally in the fall of 2015 ground was broke on a new warehouse and store.
That fall was the start of phase one of the project redirecting storm water that had previously run through a ditch in the middle of the property to a pond on the very west end and running utilities to the new site. The summer of 2016 was spent digging the pond and doing soil corrections for the site. In the fall of 2016 construction of the New Building began and the finishing touches were finished in the fall of 2017. On Feb 1 2018, the new store opened.
