Tick, tick, tick....
This tick has been hanging around for us to show people for a while. After months in a sealed container with no additional feeding she laid eggs. This gives you an idea of how long a tick can be dormant and how many eggs one female can lay. Remember ticks bloom again in the fall so keep up with prevention.

Did you know?

Although ticks need blood meals to mature, most species can go as long as two to three years without feeding off a host.

Once a host is found, a mature tick feeds until it swells to 10 times its original size. Some males stay on the host up to three years, engorging, mating and repeating the cycle; females engorge, fall off, lay eggs and die. Some species can stay on your dog for three months, others for three years.

On rare occasions dogs can also serve as a transport host to carry ticks from the outdoor environment into the house, where the tick could drop off of he dog and attach to a human.
Ticks can lay their eggs in different parts of the home. However, they typically lay their eggs near baseboards, window and door surrounds, furniture, edges of rugs, and curtains.

Beds, bed covers, bed sheets and other bedding related items are hiding and resting places for ticks. They can easily latch on to the body and hair from beds. Wooden beds in particular are a haven for ticks, since they can easily hide and lay eggs in the cracks.

What do I do if I find a tick in my house?

Steps

De-clutter your home. Although ticks are found outdoors, indoor infestations of the brown dog tick are not uncommon.
Wash dirty clothes in hot water. Ticks attach to dirty clothing or bed linens.
Clean your house thoroughly.
Dust your home with pesticide.
Treat indoor pets.
Call an exterminator.

Ticks remain most active when temperatures are above 45 degrees Fahrenheit; but they do not go away in the winter, nor do they die because of the cold. Depending on the species, and stage of life of the tick, they become dormant or latch on to their host - like a warm-blooded human or deer.

We cannot emphasize enough the dangers of retractable leashes!

Even the most savvy dog-walkers have no control if the lock decides to break on a retractable leash. It isn't worth the risk!

Opt for a traditional nylon leash instead!

As of Monday, May 24, 2021, our guidelines for face masks and re-opening the campus will be following the updated Ohio mask mandate orders from Governor DeWine and we will be fully re-opening our campus to guests.

Anyone that is not fully vaccinated, will be requested to wear a mask.

Per the state of Ohio, fully vaccinated individuals are those that are two weeks past their final dose received. Employees and clients that are fully vaccinated but would prefer to continue to wear a mask are welcome to do so. Should a client wish to remain with curbside service, we will do everything we can do accommodate these requests as we continue to transition back to normal business operations.

A few key points about these coming changes:

There will no longer be a need to call upon arrival for any services.

Please enter through our front doors and check in at our front desk.

There is no longer a limit to the number of clients able to be in our lobby or present for an appointment.

Please note: As of June 2nd, 2021, the State of Ohio is lifting ALL mask and social distancing requirements for businesses of our type. Therefore, beginning on June 2nd, mask wearing will be optional.
