🍄 Mushrooms can have a wide range of health benefits for dogs, including regulating blood pressure, treating arthritis, cancer; improving heart health, and more.
But ... mushrooms are expensive to grow and mature on natural substrates like wood. To make mushrooms cheaper, you can just grow the mycelium (roots) in bags of oats, sorghum or other grains. The problem is, you end of with a bag of grains and very little mushroom.
In fact, the FDA even states you can't sell mycelium as mushrooms because it's different.
So how can you tell the difference between real, whole mushrooms and mycelium?
Ask for the beta-glucan content. Whole mushrooms contain much more of the beneficial beta-glucan than mycelium and they're low in starch.
Better yet, try Four Leaf Rover's 7 mushroom blend. They 3rd party test their mushrooms and guarantee a consistently high beta-glucan content:
Beta-Glucan Content:
Turkey Tail - 53%
Reishi - 47%
Cordyceps - 27%
Maitake - 36%
Phellinus - 23%
Shiitake - 32%
Chaga - 16%
Never buy your dog mushrooms without asking for the beta-glucan content ... your dog deserves the real deal, not a cheap poser.
