Boris Karloff (ne) William Henry Pratt was born on November 23, 1887 in Camberwell, Surrey, England. He is best known as Frankenstein's monster in the horror film "Frankenstein" (1931), which established him as a horror icon. He reprised the role in "Bride of Frankenstein" (1935) and "Son of Frankenstein" (1939). Karloff also appeared as Imhotep in "The Mummy" (1932), and voiced the Grinch, as well as narrated the animated television special of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1966), which won him a Grammy Award."
"His parents were Edward John Pratt, Jr. and Eliza Sarah Millard. His brother, Sir John Thomas Pratt, was a British diplomat. Edward John Pratt, Jr. was an Anglo-Indian, from a British father and Indian mother,[10] while Karloff's mother also had some Indian ancestry, thus Karloff had a relatively dark complexion that differed from his peers at the time. His mother's maternal aunt was Anna Leonowens, whose tales about life in the royal court of Siam (now Thailand) were the basis of the musical The King and I. Pratt was bow-legged, had a lisp, and stuttered as a young boy. He learned how to manage his stutter, but not his lisp, which was noticeable throughout his career in the film industry.
Pratt was the youngest of nine children. Following his mother's death he was brought up by his elder siblings. After this, he attended King's College London where he took studies aimed at a career with the British Government's Consular Service. However, in 1909, he left university without graduating and drifted, departing England for Canada, where he worked as a farm laborer and did various odd itinerant jobs until happening upon acting."❤️🖤

Barbara Sinatra: "We were at a dinner party one night with Bennett Cerf and Betty Bacall when Frank wandered into a guest room to collect a pack of ci******es from his overcoat. There he found the producer Arthur Hornblow finishing up a telephone call to a woman. 'I hope she's pretty,’ Frank said softly. Arthur replied that she was it was his mother, Susie, who was in poor health in Florida but still excited about the latest Yankee scores.
'What I wouldn't give for one more telephone call with my mom,' Frank told him wistfully.
At his suggestion, they called Arthur's mother back and put Frank on the line. 'Is this really Frank Sinatra?' she asked. 'You sound too much like him not to be. I love your voice.'
'Well, I love your voice too, Susie,' Frank said. 'Tell you what—I'm going to call you every Saturday night at six o'clock, and we'll chew over the Yankees' performance, okay?' He kept his promise and never missed a Saturday evening call to Susie Hornblow until the day she died. As an extra touch, he sent bouquets to her on Mother's Day and to other widowed mothers in the same hospital. Frank appended her name to his catalog of solitary women he'd regularly check in on, which encompassed a relative of Freeman Gosden's and several single mothers. Scepticism surrounded their assertion that Ol' Blue Eyes was a frequent caller, but they were aware of the truth, and that was the sole significance."

Katharine Hepburn significantly helped cast her niece, Katharine Houghton, for the role of Joey Drayton in "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" (1967). Concerning this, Hepburn stated: "There was a lovely part for Kathy [Houghton], my niece... She would play Spencer's and my daughter. I loved that. She's beautiful and she definitely had a family resemblance. It was my idea."

According to Hepburn, the role of Joey would be one of Houghton's first major roles as a young actress. "The part of my daughter," Kate said, "was a difficult one. A young unknown actress needs more opportunity to win the sympathy of the audience. Otherwise, too much has to depend on her youth, innocence, and beauty. She had one good speech to win the audience, but it was cut. Instead she only talks with her father about the differences between the principles he taught her and the way he's behaving."

When asked what she thought of Hepburn, Houghton replied: "Oh, she was a wonderful aunt. I mean, before she became my mother, she was a wonderful aunt. Always coming back at holidays. And I really didn't know her that well as a child because she was so busy. But she'd come back at holidays laden with beautiful gifts. And a fairy tale godmother, really she was.💕❤️🖤

Horror films: "Dracula" 1931 is a pre-Code supernatural horror film directed and co-produced by Tod Browning from a screenplay written by Garrett Fort. It is based on the 1924 stage play Dracula by Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderston, which in turn is adapted from the 1897 novel Dracula by Bram Stoker. The film stars Bela Lugosi as Count Dracula, a vampire who emigrates from Transylvania to England and preys upon the blood of living victims, including a young man's fiancée.
Produced and distributed by Universal Pictures, Dracula is the first sound film adaptation of the Stoker novel. Several actors were considered to portray the title character, but Lugosi, who had previously played the role on Broadway, eventually got the part. The film was partially shot on sets at Universal Studios Lot in California, which were reused at night for the filming of Drácula, a concurrently produced Spanish-language version of the story also by Universal.
Dracula was a commercial and critical success upon release, and led to several sequels and spin-offs. It has had a notable influence on popular culture, and Lugosi's portrayal of Dracula established the character as a cultural icon, as well as the archetypal vampire in later works of fiction. In 2000, the film was selected by the United States Library of Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry as "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."🖤❤️

To Kill a Mockingbird 1962

Gregory Peck’s mighty performance as decent attorney Atticus Finch is the anchor of this adaptation of Harper Lee’s inspiring novel. Lee herself agreed—the author and actor kept in private touch for decades. The film is also about surrogate fathers and defenders; watch for a young Robert Duvall as the mysterious Boo Radley, a ghost and a hero.❤️🖤
