Kenny is ready for his furever family!
He is yet another example of why people should not get a dog without really thinking the decision through. A young Golden-mix who needs activity and stimulation, once he got big and required more work, his former owners decided they just didn’t have the time for him… Sadly, it is apparent that he was not treated very well by his former owners. He is head-shy and needs some patience in warming up to new people.

Once Kenny is comfortable with his people, however, he is the most velcro, goofy, cuddly fella you’ll ever meet. He is just a big, klutzy puppy. He loves to play with toys and other dogs and is super-smart and eager to please.
Kenny would do best in a home with another playful dog and a yard, as well as active, committed people who will continue to make sure he gets the structure and exercise he needs to thrive.

Kenny is currently in West Hills, California, but can be adopted anywhere, as long as you can come to SoCal and drive home (Rover’s Retreat doesn’t ship any of their dogs).

EUTHANASIA LISTED 1/27/25 , THIS SPECIAL GIRL DESERVES A CHANCE TO SEE WHAT A GOOD HOME IS…
She arrived at shelter with open wounds on her neck , they have been cleaned and she needs rescue … this is sweet dog, so grateful for staffs kindness to her!

This poor dog has been seen for at least 3 months before anyone came to her aid. She is now deadlined at City of San Bernardino Animal Services because of a multitude of issues.
Medical notes:
01/23/25 Weight: 41.80 pounds
Vaccines: BORDETELLA DA2PPV0
Hospital: Patient came in with multiple, smelly, purulent/bloody discharging wounds around her neck area. ACWC was able to clip and clean patient, but some of the wounds appear to be deep and she will need follow-up surgery to further clean, flush, apply a possible drain and suture wounds closed.
Patient is somewhat thin and has some growth on her lower eyelids. Patient appears very mellow, a little shy but she has been very nice and enjoys attention and loves to be petted. Patient is eating and drinking, is QAR and is currently stable.
However, due to the shelter not being a conducive environment for patients with conditions that require extensive medical treatments, and since we do not have a vet on site, we are going to have to place her on a medical deadline since this patient may require further medical attention and possible surgery. If the patient’s health declines, we may have to consider possible earlier humane euthanasia. This patient will need a medical wavier if adopted or redeemed. Will start on medication per protocol. Cephalexin 300mg- 1 1/2 tablets PO q12H x 7 days Carprofen 100mg- 1/2 tablet PO q12H x 7 days 1.50 CEPH 250 2.00 TIMES/DAY FOR 7.00 DAYS 0.50 RIMADYL/CARPROFEN 100MG 2.00 TIMES/DAY FOR 7.00 DAYS

Behavior observed: fearful Confinement method (leash, catch pole, snare, other): leash Any additional info from witnesses, RP or other parties: has been in area for at least 3 months. Punctures on neck.

Harry!
‒ My Name is Harry. I am described as Male, Black Standard Poodle. The shelter thinks I am about 1 year and 6 months old. I have been at the shelter since January 13, 2025.

Behavior History:

Veterinary Staff:

1/14/25 Visual exam only due to behavior

Behavior observed: initially came to greet at door. sniffed hand but quickly stiffened body posture, wide eyed. limited exam, unable to administer DHPP at this time.

Shelter Staff:

01/13/25 18:08 Victim/Dog Owner reports a dog bite that occurred today around 1730 hours. Victim/ owner states that she was out walking her dog "HARRY" when he turned and bit her right hand with no warning. Vitcim/ owner received (2) punctures wounds and advises that she is no longer bleeding/not seeking medical treatment. Victim/ owner adopted "HARRY" in October 2024 and has had multiple incidences where "HARRY" has acted aggressive with her and other family members. Due to unpredictable, aggressive behavior, victim/owner no longer feels safe having "HARRY" in the household. "HARRY" is currently confined in the back patio.

01/13/25 19:53 I met with dog owner/victim who told me she was bitten by her dog HARRY while out on a walk. Owner/victim said she adopted HARRY from a friend back in October and has not been able to calm his aggressive behavior. I observed owner/victim wounds, consisting of 2 punctures near the base of the right thumb.

01/18/25 17:14 I have met Harry a few times. He comes to the front of the cage and jumps up, but is very nervous and does not really solicit attention. His eyes are wide and he is stiff. I did not think it would be a good decision to reach in to try to pet him. He never wants treats, even high value ones.
