🐾 Our Thorough Adoption Process 🐾

At The Fuzzy Pet Foundation (TFPF), we take the responsibility of finding the best homes for our animals very seriously. Our adoption process is designed to ensure the safety and well-being of every cat and dog. Here are the steps involved:

(1) Application: Each prospective adopter must fill out a detailed application.
(2) Reference Check: We contact provided references to learn more about the adopter's experience and suitability.
(3) Phone Call: We have a conversation to discuss expectations and answer any questions.
(4) Home Visit: A home visit is conducted to ensure a safe environment for the pet.
(5) Adoption Contract and Fee: Once approved, an adoption contract is signed to finalize the process, and the adoption fee will be collected.

🌟 A Few Important Reminders 🌟

❤️ Respect and Kindness: We are a group of working professionals running TFPF as a volunteer-driven organization. We pour our hearts and souls into caring for these animals. Please be respectful and kind in your communications with us.

❤️ Patience: Our animals are in individual foster homes. Please do not demand to see them immediately or on the same day. We need time to thoroughly screen each application. Remember, we do not adopt out on a first-come, first-served basis.

❤️ Adoption Fees: These fees help cover a fraction of the expenses for vet care, housing, and supplies. Our adoption fee is generally 1/10 of what we incur. Please do not negotiate these fees as though you're bargaining for a bag of fruit. If you cannot afford the basic adoption fee, we advise against adopting, as vet bills and pet care expenses are significant everywhere.

❤️ Living Beings: Our animals are living, sentient beings. We ask for your understanding and patience as we work to find them the most loving and responsible homes.

🚫 Zero Tolerance Policy: We will not tolerate rude, disrespectful, or entitled behavior, including "nasty grams" or aggressive calls.

ADOPT PEACH (aka BOSS BABY)!

Meet Peach, affectionately known as BOSS Baby, an adorable 10-week-old puppy with a story that will tug at your heartstrings. Weighing just 4.37 pounds, Peach is the runt of the litter, but her personality is anything but small. Rescued by The Fuzzy Pet Foundation (TFPF), Peach was born into a world of uncertainty. Her mom, a Yorkipoo, and her dad, a Maltipoo, were part of a dire hoarding situation. Sadly, Peach’s father never made it to our care, as the hoarders claimed he was "lost" on the streets. Living among numerous dogs with scarce food and no vet care, Peach's start in life was incredibly challenging.

Despite these rough beginnings, Peach’s fearless and courageous personality shines through. She looks very different from all of her siblings, resembling an adorable Chihuahua/Dachshund puppy. This tiny but mighty pup has been busy keeping her siblings in check. Peach is sweet, playful, and incredibly brave, always ready to explore and take on new adventures.

Peach is incredibly affectionate and bonds quickly with those who show her love. Her playful spirit and boundless energy are a testament to her resilience and zest for life. She enjoys exploring her surroundings and playing with her favorite toys. Peach is very smart and is already picking up on potty training quickly.

Peach is up-to-date on vaccinations and in excellent health. She has transformed from a neglected puppy into a joyful and affectionate dog, ready to bring endless joy and warmth to a loving family.

ADOPT PIERRE!

Pierre's story is one of resilience and hope. This precious poodle mix was found running along the 105 freeway in the scorching heat, his fur matted and covering his eyes, and wearing a sweater despite the blazing weather. Thanks to the quick actions of a few Good Samaritans, Pierre was brought to safety. The local animal shelter arrived shortly after and their humane officer took him in.

When the humane officer contacted his owner, we discovered that Pierre didn't even have a proper name – he was merely nicknamed Bugatti after his owner's dream car. The owner didn't want him back. We decided to give this charming and elegant pup a more suitable name – Pierre.

Pierre is a less-than-one-year-old poodle mix, weighing 13.72 pounds. He is the SWEETEST dog ever. He is playful, loves humans, and is gentle with other cats and dogs. He loves everyone he meets and is incredibly friendly. Our vets are all mesmerized by his sweet temperament and loving nature.

Pierre has a unique and adorable habit of standing on his two hind legs like a meerkat to observe his surroundings. He loves going on walks and enjoys every moment spent with his human friends. Pierre is looking for a responsible home where he can get the care and attention he deserves. While Pierre gets along well with everyone, we prefer to place him in a calm, loving home without rambunctious, young children.

Meet SamSam, a charming one-year-old Maltese mix with a sad past. Rescued by The Fuzzy Pet Foundation (TFPF) from a dire hoarding situation, SamSam’s early life was marred by neglect and hardship. Many nights he went to bed hungry, often left outside in the scorching heat without shelter. Despite these challenges, his resilient spirit and loving nature have endured, and now he’s ready to find his forever home.

SamSam absolutely loves being held and craves human affection. He bonds quickly and thrives on love and attention. Playful and full of energy, SamSam delights in his toys and excels on leash walks. His sharp intelligence means he’ll alert you when strangers are near, always eager to be by your side.

Weighing just 11 pounds, SamSam might be small, but his personality is boundless. He enjoys exploring and showing off his playful antics. ADOPT BIRDIE!

Meet Birdie, a sweet six-month-old Terrier girl with a story that will touch your heart. Birdie came from a very neglectful home where numerous animals were collected but not properly cared for or given necessary vet treatment. Her previous owners would let her roam the streets until midnight, exposing her to outdoor dangers and leaving her vulnerable.

When we rescued Birdie, she was uncertain and her tan fur was covered in dirt and f***s. Her little paws were raw from walking on rough pavements, and her eyes showed a deep sadness that spoke of her difficult past. It took us a couple of months of tender care, nutritious food, and medical treatment to nurse her back to health.

Now, Birdie is a transformed pup, full of life and joy. She has a happy and affectionate nature, loving nothing more than cuddling up to her humans. Birdie is very playful, loves toys, and enjoys doing zoomies around the yard. She can run very fast, and her favorite pastime is squeaking her toys and exploring her surroundings. She loves humans and does well with other dogs. We have not yet tested her around cats, but she does not have a mean bone in her body.

Birdie is also incredibly sweet and has a special charm that captivates everyone she meets. She enjoys yummy treats and always looks forward to snack time. Our vets are mesmerized by her loving temperament and resilience.

🚨 RESCUED! Meet Pierre! 🚨

We have an incredible rescue story to share with you all. 💔 Recently, our team took in a poodle-type dog running along the 105 freeway in the scorching heat. His fur was covering his eyes, and he was wearing a sweater despite the blazing weather. Poor Pierre was severely matted and in desperate need of help.

Thanks to the swift actions of a few Good Samaritans, they managed to catch him and bring him to safety. The local shelter arrived shortly after to assist. When the humane officer contacted his owner, we learned that this sweet soul didn't even have a name. The owner simply nicknamed him after his dream car, Bugatti, and didn't want him back.

We decided to give this precious pup a name that truly matches his charm and elegance – Pierre. 🐩✨ Our vets estimate that Pierre is less than a year old, and let us tell you, he is the SWEETEST dog ever! 💖

🌟 Happy Tail Alert: Teddy's Triumph 🌟

We are thrilled to share Teddy's heartwarming journey to his forever home with a compassionate couple in San Jose, CA, who are both human specialty doctors. 🏡💕

From the moment we reviewed their application, we knew this match was meant to be. Known for their kind and patient care, they had previously given a rescued Schnauzer a wonderful life filled with love, regular walks, and excellent veterinary attention. Described by their references as devoted and gentle, they treated their previous pet like a cherished son.

Their vet and specialists consistently praised their commitment, noting their regular visits and comprehensive pet insurance, ensuring their pets always receive the care they need. Convinced we had found the perfect home, we flew with Teddy to meet his new family, a meeting that would start his wonderful new chapter.

Today, Teddy is living the dream in Northern California. No longer facing the harsh realities of the LA projects, where he once roamed hungry and afraid, he now lounges in multiple cozy beds, enjoys daily adventures, and even recently strolled through UC Berkeley's iconic Sather Gate, basking in the sunshine.

Last week, our team at TFPF undertook a critical mission to Sacramento where we rescued Lola, a young mother dog, and her four puppies from severe neglect. Left in a backyard without shelter and deprived of basic care, their plight was desperate. Their previous owner surrendered them to us, unable to commit to even the essential veterinary care they needed. 🏡😢

Now safe under our care, Lola and her puppies require veterinary care, warmth, and consistent nurturing. These puppies, only five weeks old, will remain with us until they are ready to be spayed/neutered and find their forever homes. 🐶🍼

A few weeks ago, we were featured on 7News DC, where we advocated for Georgetown University to replace the live animal "mascot," Jack, with a human-costumed alternative. Jack, like any companion animal, deserves a loving home environment rather than being subjected to the strains of loud, boisterous basketball games while wearing a metal choke collar—a condition that can exacerbate the breathing challenges common among brachycephalic breeds like him.

ADOPT TEDDY!

Meet Teddy, a brave, three-year-old Schnauzer mix whose resilience shines through his challenging past. Discarded in the harsh environment of the LA projects by his original owner, Teddy experienced rejection firsthand. Attempts to return to what he once called "home" were met with violence, as his owner struck him with a broomstick. Alone, Teddy survived on scraps and navigated busy streets, his vision obstructed by matted fur turned into dreadlocks. When he arrived at our care, he was underweight, with sores covering his body — conditions that took us months to heal.

Now, Teddy is a transformed soul, eagerly waiting to find his forever home. Fostered in Los Angeles, CA, we are committed to finding him a loving and secure family, no matter the distance. Teddy has blossomed into the most affectionate companion, known for his loving hugs, joy for walks, and fondness for treats. His tough times on the streets have made him wary of certain noises and cars, and past trauma makes him nervous about facial grooming. 🎉🐾 A New Year Miracle for Bobo! 🐾🎉

As we asked Mr. and Mrs. Santa Paws for a loving, forever home for our dear Bobo, our wishes came true in the most wonderful way! 🌟

We, at The Fuzzy Pet Foundation, are overjoyed to share that Bobo has found his forever home with the most nurturing and loving mama. She previously provided unparalleled care and love to her rescue Pug, Ruffles, who bravely fought cancer until his last breath. Her dedication to Ruffles was profound, covering everything from seeking specialized medical care to tenderly managing his complex needs, including his incontinence in his final days. This level of compassion and commitment deeply touched our hearts. After mourning her beloved "son" for over a year, she courageously opened her heart and home to another Pug in need – our very own Bobo.

Her commitment to pet guardianship was evident through four glowing references, including her veterinarian, and she passed our rigorous home check with flying colors. 🏡✨ She even gave us a tour of her office, which will now be Bobo's daily hangout spot!

Thanks to her, Bobo rang in the New Year surrounded by love and care in his new forever home. We couldn't have dreamt of a better match!

🐾 Meet Gizmo, our 1-year-old Grey Merle French Bulldog, who's looking for his forever home! 🐶💙

Gizmo is a true bundle of love and joy. He's the ultimate cuddle buddy, always ready to snuggle up and share some affection. This friendly boy adores the company of other dogs and is happiest when out on walks or playfully zooming around the house.

His story tugs at the heartstrings. Gizmo's previous guardian, hit by hard times and facing eviction, made the difficult decision to surrender him to The Fuzzy Pet Foundation (TFPF). It was a step towards ensuring Gizmo finds the stable, loving home he deserves.

Gizmo is neutered and boasts a clean bill of health. He has even undergone a soft palate resection surgery, a proactive step to help with his breathing – a common concern in brachycephalic breeds like him. He weighs 18.74 pounds.

🏡 The ideal home for Gizmo would be with those experienced in caring for brachycephalic dogs. A loving, patient family is a must, preferably without young, rambunctious kids, to ensure Gizmo's comfort and safety. We believe a calm environment is key to his happiness.

🌈 In Loving Memory of Bear 🌈

With heavy hearts, we share the news of Bear's passing at 18. Despite being deaf and having a partial tail, Bear's spirit and zest for life never waned. As the pace of his life slowed and his organs began to rest, Bear was humanely euthanized in the comfort of his home, enveloped in the warm embrace of his devoted mom, Lisa.

Even amidst her grief, Lisa's generosity and kindness were evident. She donated all of Bear's expensive medications to her local animal shelter to assist other senior cats in their twilight years.

Lisa's heartbreak is palpable. She finds solace in knowing she gave Bear a life filled with endless love, comfort, and joy. Their bond was one of immeasurable depth.

We at The Fuzzy Pet Foundation are profoundly grateful to Lisa. Her unwavering love and care for Bear and her generosity towards other animals exemplify the kind of commitment we hope for every animal we rescue. Stories like Lisa and Bear's drive us to be meticulous in our adoption process. We will always strive to find the most responsible, fiercely protective, compassionate adopters.

BUTTONS IS READY FOR ADOPTION!

Buttons is a Wire-haired Terrier/Schnauzer Mix. At just 7 months of age, she has a petite stature, weighing in at 26.24 lbs.
