Despite the antics, Gertie is impressively holding herself considering such a strong tease, even better than earlier when we were further from the tree and had spotted the squirrel. Before approaching, we took a few minutes to calm down, which allowed us to get closer and practice right near the tree.

With our training, we ditch cookie-cutter methods in favor of personalized approaches. Personalised approaches require a period of trial and error to find the most effective approach for the dogs learning style. Today, Max got a break and Maverick stepped in to help. We focused on establishing boundaries, implementing obedience commands, providing distractions, and teaching alternative behaviors to address Felix’s overstimulation and impulsive behavior. By establishing boundaries and rewarding positive behaviors, we’re empowering Felix to regulate himself and think independently. It’s all about patience, consistency, and celebrating progress one step at a time! Here we’re guiding Marley to relearn how to participate in dog play in a gentle and non-intimidating manner, working in an environment she loves most - the beach, which we use as a reward method. It’s important to note that environmental rewards like this should only be used by experienced trainers, as they require careful handling and understanding of the dog’s behavior. We also focused on teaching her to recognize triggers and respond by safely disengaging or calmly walking away.
