Greetings from the trenches of kitten season! 😩
This isn’t all of the cats we current need fosters for, it’s only some 😹

When you foster a kitty you’re giving that kitty a calm & safe environment to thrive in, while simultaneously allowing us to rescue a new kitty from our waitlist! It’s a win-win.

• Please no other cats in household for Masa, Mamba, Rosetta. All of them prefer to be the queen of the castle. 👑
(Though setting up their space in a different room than your other cats would likely be fine)
• Coffee Litter ☕️ (Lorelei’s kids) are 5 kittens with the orange one already lined up to leave for foster to adopt tomorrow. 4 of them still need fosters - Espresso, Americana, Keurig, & Cold Brew. They can go as a 4pack or 2x2.
• Primo & Cholulo would really love to stay together. They’ve been bounced around to 3 different fosters already. Looking for a 1 month foster commitment for them at minimum, to lessen the trauma of bouncing around as much on them.

Meet Bean (fka Kola)! 🫘

Sadly she spent most of her life outdoors, but luckily she had a very kind feeder/caregiver, and when it came time for him to move, he worked very hard to find a rescue for her so that she could have a beautiful indoor life for the remainder of her years. She instantly adapted to and loved indoor life!

If you’re looking for a fun cat that loves to follow you around, curl up on your lap, and purr the day away, Bean is the cat for you. Her 10 years of age show in her adorable gray hairs and chill demeanor, but she’s surprisingly spry when the ribbon toy comes out!

She loves humans, pets, and humans who give her pets. She also has no desire to go outside or run out the door at all. She’s deaf and toothless, so she’s not scared of the vacuum cleaner at all and there’s no dental care to worry about. She doesn’t scratch any furniture or eat any plants either.

She adjusts very quickly to a new house or environment but she would do best as the only cat in a home. Come spend a bit of time with this affectionate kitty and I promise you’ll fall in love!

We are happily waiving the adoption fee for this sweet senior as our goal is simply to find her a loving home/family 🏡

“Meet Munchkin - the friendliest cat I have ever had the pleasure of fostering. Munchkin has never met a stranger, human or animal, and has turned even antisocial kitties into friends of hers.

Munchkin is the social chair of the foster room. This sweet girl anxiously awaits her foster mom in the morning, waiting by the door for pets and snuggles. Munchkin loves feather toys, balls and tunnels. She is truly the most outgoing, extroverted, animal loving cat I have ever encountered. Munchkin would thrive in a house with other kitties, dogs and children.”

Originally rescued back in July 2023 with eyes completely shut due to URI, covered in fleas and severely malnourished after being left in a box in Compton with her 6 siblings.

Almost a year later, and well into the next year’s kitten season, Munchkin is the last of her litter to find her forever home. Though she probably would be happy to spend the rest of her life in foster room, we’d love to finally find this special lady her forever family so she can be doted on and cherished as a truly permanent family member as she so deserves.

She is 11 months old, fully vetted, and the most happy-go-lucky, outgoing, grateful kitty we’ve ever met 🖤🤍

Petra showed up in someone’s backyard in Highland Park a couple weeks ago, thin, reproductive organs intact, not microchipped, covered in fleas, and with missing patches of fur due to allergic dermatitis from the fleas.

A Velcro cat right off the bat, she followed her finder around and ultimately landed in our hands the next day :)
Petra is now fixed, vaccinated, flea treated, microchipped, tested negative for FIV/FeLv, convenia’d and dewormed.

She is safe with in foster care in Los Feliz til her forever home comes along! 💕

“Petra is like a shadow, following you from room to room and inviting herself into your lap-until she’s running off to play! A great mix of affectionate and self-sufficient, she has kitten energy, curiosity, loud calming purrs, and was made to be someone’s pampered princess. She would be happy in a home with other cats but would also be fine solo with an adopter who is frequently home.”

Mama Maia & her x3 kittens were discovered and rescued by in a Denny’s parking lot in Whittier 😓💔 [fun fact: this was where Babybel was dumped/rescued too…]

Prior to her rescue Mama was probably feasting on pancakes & Santa Fe Skillets in the dumpster so honestly prob would’ve been my first choice of places to be dumped if my owners didn’t want me anymore due to my completely preventable pregnancy that they didn’t take action on 🙄 mom & the kittens all have a great BMI at least 😅

Iris, Percy, and Hercules are roughly 10 weeks old. Aka way too old to be chomping on mom’s poor nips - anyone willing to foster mama Maia so she can start enjoying her own life instead of catering to these 3 freeloaders?! She’s super sweet and precious, gorgeous lady. She is now fixed.

Yesterday the whole fam went down to our OC counterpart 🖤 🖤 for their intake vetting. The kids got their first vaccines, dewormer & flea treatment. Mama Maia had already gone to be fixed thanks to .

Kittens are available in pairs or as singles to households with another playful cat or kitten.

Meet Chai! A stunning golden torbie who came from the North Hollywood abuse colony. She is currently in foster care & seeking her forever home. Roughly 8-9 months old. Fully vetted & ready to go! Her foster did an incredible job describing her for her Petfinder listing which I wanted to highlight here to boost visibility for our sweet girl!

“She’s a dainty, sweet little lady who loves sitting with her paws crossed. Petting her cheeks and chin is a certain way to start up her soft, quiet purr motor. She can be a little shy, but also really playful; her feather wand toy really helps her come out of her shell! And once she’s warmed up, she’s a big lovebug.

Chai’s love language is quality time, so hanging out in the same room with her goes a long way for bonding, even if you’re both doing your own independent thing. She loves when you talk to her, and she can often be heard around the house trilling happily (especially if there’s food involved!) Chai will look deep into your eyes with love; she’s such a friendly and sweet girl who would be a wonderful addition to your life.

Chai was rescued with littermates and others, so it’s likely she would do really well with another cat or kitten. Whenever she sees her own reflection she, trills and chirps in a very friendly way- like she would love to have the company of a cat friend- it’s very cute! She does just fine on her own though with human bonding and no other pets- with gentle love and safety (and plenty of good food) her personality shines. Chai would be great with older, respectful children, but she does need time and space to warm up. Young kiddos might be too scary for this gentle girl.”

We helped a Good Samaritan rescue Amira from the streets of Gardena back in October… she was less than a pound & had 2 horribly infected eyes, one unsalvageable. The woman was willing to foster & transport to our vet if we could cover all medical. She received her enucleation a couple weeks after she came in off the streets . She was fixed last month bc we had to wait til she was big enough. Today Amira’s foster completed her adoption paperwork. 🥹

There are 3 million community cats on the streets of LA alone. And that’s an old #. It’s probably way higher now. Spay/neuter saves lives. We can’t change the world by rescuing one cat but we can change the world of that one cat. 🌎

7 weeks ago we rescued Luca and Bitsy from a colony of 7 kitties in East Hollywood that were victims of bullying and abuse by some tenants. The other 5 went with our buds .nation.cat.rescue 🙏🏽

We were able to take Bitsy under the rescue because stepped up to foster her through until adoption 💕

She was pregnant. She is now spayed, vaxxed, microchipped, flea treated & dewormed, and negative for FIV/FeLv. Around 1 year old.

Desi says:
Bitsy is truly a gentle soul. She has been through so much in her short life but remarkably it hasn’t broken her spirit or lessened her love of life.

It has been so rewarding to see her come out of her shell more and more every day, whether it be exploring her foster home, giving her humans a nice flop and belly reveal or lately, playing with any and everything she can. She is really settling into her new life as a spoiled house cat. Her favorite thing to do is sit high and observe her surroundings on a fluffy pile of cushions. Although she has her little bursts of playtime, she is a couch potato at her core.

Despite all the reason in the world to not trust humans she is always up for pets and hasn’t exhibited even a smidge of aggression or skittishness. If you even look at Bitsy she purrs! Even on day one when she was trembling with fear her purrs were loud as she gratefully accepted pets and cuddles.

She is very respectful to other cats and patiently awaits them to give her the ok to play or snuggle.

Bitsy is very food motivated and communicative when it’s feeding time. She loves to give you a gentle reminder meow that she’s ready to eat.

She has come so far in just a few short weeks, and is honestly inspiring. This girl is soul cat material!

Astro was rescued as a kitten born outside in Anaheim back in late 2022 by an independent rescuer who got him neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, snap tested, and adopted him out. 👏🏽

Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances Astro’s adopters cannot keep him ☹️ So they reached back out to the rescuer, who now lives in another state. The rescuer found a local foster who took Astro in & has now been fostering for him for a few months. They are leaving town for an extended work trip so we will be taking over his care on 4/8. We are looking for a foster or foster-to-adopter for sweet Astro.

His rescuer has this to say about him: Astro (unofficially short for Astronimo) is a sweet loving boy full of energy and excitement. He loves to play as much as he loves to cuddle and nap with you. This sweet boy will purr up a storm and will give you endless amounts of love. He loves everyone, no matter species or size. If you’re looking for your next cosmo-sized adventure, Astro would love to be by your side!

As you can see he mixes well with other cats & dogs. Anyone would be incredibly lucky to add this teddy bear to their family forever.

Cat just showed up in someone’s front yard, nobody has seen it before. Tail looks degloved / may need amputation.
We can take to hold (will give pain meds and start antibiotics) & get scheduled at vet for early next week (already have 4 cats at vet today all severe medical cases).

We NEED to find him a recovery foster.
Cat is friendly.
We will neuter, vaccinate, test for FIV/FeLv, flea treat, deworm, microchip.

When you rescue animals and/or are a high volume foster, the threat of fire should always be taken seriously and emergencies planned for. Sadly tragedy struck in our rescue community last night & many feline lives were lost as a result. Our hearts go out to those affected 💔
Since my fire anxiety has been through the roof for half a decade and I’ve spent literal years (and my sanity) losing sleep thinking of everything I could possibly do to prevent disaster, I wanted to take a moment to share my personal contingency plan for fire in hopes of preventing disaster for other rescuers:

1. Always have enough carriers for everyone
2. Make sure your smoke detectors are working (seriously if you have animals in the household and you don’t know if your smoke alarms work stop reading this and go test them/replace the batteries already)
2. Leave windows open just a crack when you’re not home, this way if smoke gathers it will have an exit path and gives your animals more time to breathe until FD arrives (this also serves as visibility for neighbors in hopes someone would see smoke exiting your windows + call 911 if you were not home)
3. Give a trusted neighbor your key (someone who knows the # of animals you have inside), show them which carriers are where and give them a headcount (at least on your personal pets since foster will always vary ofc). Discuss a plan with them if there were a major fire and you were not home (I share my location with my trusted neighbor so she would easily know in a fire event if I were not home).
4. Have your own fire extinguisher(s) in your apartment instead of relying on the ones legally required in common areas of your building - the time it takes you to run out to grab the hallway extinguisher and break it off the wall can be the difference in lives saved or lost (I have multiple of these in my 1 bedroom apt: https://preparedhero.com/products/dry-stop-fire-spray) - I’m anxious af and also bought these for the apartment unit tenants that I share walls with. They also sell a fire blanket which is good to have especially if you cook a lot.
5. Furbo (and I’m sure other pet cameras/devices) has a feature that sends you a push notification if it hears a smoke or CO2 alarm going off
6. Declutter

Our most recent medical rescue, Luca. His colony was being abused/tormented by some horrific tenants who were making threats of poisoning the cats.
He was life threateningly anemic when we took him in. Literally zero platelets. We got him 2 emergency blood transfusions yesterday & he’s recovering with us as of 6am today!

Please see last slide for detailed information. These 7 friendly cats live on the streets of East Hollywood & some tenants are abusing them. The feeder says they are nice and all are able to be petted, picked up & held except for Federick who is still super friendly just doesn’t want to be held.

We are seeking immediate fosters for all 7 of them. We will handle vaccines, microchips, flea treatment, dewormer, and FIV/FeLv tests. Looking for fosters who are able to foster through until adoption. Ideally nearby us (Hollywood) or able to commute to us for basic vetting/medical needs if anything further arises.

Reminder that Blu is still available! He was rescued mid November with his brother Fluffy Gray who was adopted, and Blu is still awaiting his forever home.
Blu and his litter of siblings crew up in the back alley of a residential apartment building in K-Town. Luckily, they were well fed and cared for by their wonderful feeders in the building.

Unlike his brother - Blu is an observant cat, extremely cautious with new people and takes his time building his trust in you. But once he lets his guard down you’ll find that he actually craves affection - chin scratches will get his purr motor going. What he lacks in feline athleticism and natural grace, he makes up for in intelligence. He’s very food motivated and will sit for treats. He’ll also tell you promptly when it’s time for food and not the other way round - it’s hard to resist his big doe eyes and gentle chirps. He’s extremely quirky and can often be found chasing his own tail and/or shadow.

He is fully vetted including FIV/FeLv negative & we prefer he goes to a home with another cat so he can have a friend 🩶

Meet Potpourri 🥀 she’s the last of the female cats from an established colony in Koreatown that has been rescued. She’s from the same colony as Phoebe & the Friends kids, Denny, Marble, Blu, and Fluffy Gray.

She’s a young adult longhaired brown tabby female with beautiful emerald eyes, probably 2-3 years old max. Her pattern and coloring is stunning and she’s extremely fluffy - probably has some Maine Coon/Siberian heritage in her.

Potpourri takes a minute to get acclimated and come out of her shell. Once she feels safe, she’s very affectionate and prefers to cuddle than play. She’ll nudge you for chin and head scratches. She’s missing her top two incisors and sometimes her top lip gets stuck which causes her to make an incredibly funny grin that never fails to make anyone laugh.

She would probably prefer being a solo cat or in a household with other docile cats.

Potpourri is vaccinated, microchipped, negative for FIV/FeLv, flea treated, dewormed, and is currently in line for her spay appt. Once spayed she will be available for adoption. Foster-to-adopt always recommended.

We need a foster (or adopter!) for sweet Sailor.
He was found at an established colony in Whittier, someone’s previously owned pet who was neutered & microchipped but they haven’t responded to our calls, texts, or emails. And both phone have been disconnected so it seems intentional 😿

Sailor doesn’t mind other cats. He’d also do fine solo. He’s a confident young guy, likely only 2ish years old. He is now fully vetted, FIV/FeLv negative, and looking for his new forever family asap!

Toast & Weasley were rescued from the side of the 105 freeway back in August and still have had ZERO adoption applications. 😩 Their siblings Julius, Tipton, Raisin, & Rosie & momma Marmalade have ALL been adopted over the past few months. We are grateful to their foster mama who has been showering them with love, attention, and delicious meals for the last 6 months as we continue to await their forever family.

They are bonded males, now about 9-10 months old. Fully vetted (neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, flea treated, FIV/FeLv negative).

From their foster:
🐈‍⬛ Toast is a love ball he will definitely win you over. He’s such a go with the flow kind of cat. He loves his cuddles but not as much as he loves food! His best friend is 2 yr old toddler which means he has all the patience in the world.

🐈 Weasley is a night owl he loves sleeping during the day. As soon as the sun goes down he’s ready for his cuddles. He loves grooming his dog friends and doesn’t mind cuddling up next to them. He’s a sucker for anything food.

One week since we rescued Caesar from Skid Row!

This kitty has captured our hearts & seems to have captured many of yours as well 🥺

The day after we rescued him, I texted our vet a pic & they allowed me to bring him in as a dropoff. They determined the jaw was literally split in half (reason unknown- could’ve fallen from a high building or tree, abuse, HBC… no way to know - but it seemed like an old injury bc he had no pain response when we touched & assessed it), ran some pre anesthetic bloodwork to be sure he was a surgery candidate, called me for the go ahead, and rushed him in. They placed a wire inside his mouth that will be there forever, sewed him up from underneath the jaw, neutered him at my request (to not have to do a second round of anesthesia), and he came home to us that day. Sidenote, they said he’s over ten years old. We also did a snap test & he was negative for FIV/FeLv 🥳

I posted the invoice which was $1838 and Venmos began to flow in. Also our incredibly devoted foster, adopter, and friend started a fundraiser that raised $800+ 🥹 We made the bill back in full. You guys came through so hard & it’ll make me emotional for the rest of my life.

Fast forward to today, his appetite is back, he GROOMED HIMSELF for the first time today, and anytime I let him out of his crate he jumps up onto my lap immediately.

This cat watches my every move. His love for me runs deep 😹 We sent him to a medical foster and he lasted one night. He protested via starvation and she got scared & drove him back the next day. He is seriously the sweetest & most loving cat ever. I got over 15 messages today telling me to keep him 🤣 But I can’t have 7 residents, it truthfully would limit my fostering 😩

His stitches come out next Saturday 2/3. He will need an adopter once his jaw is fully healed! He probably doesn’t have the looongest life left ahead of him but I want it to be as fulfilling as possible after what he’s been through. And I’d like to be able to visit him every so often. 🤩

We currently desperately need fosters for these cats/kittens ⚠️

All have been tested negative for FIV/FeLv except for Stevie & Julep who will be tested in the coming few days. Everyone is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea treated.

Priority to foster-to-adopt situations to minimize environmental changes and unnecessary stress on the cats. But even if you can only offer to foster for 2 weeks it’s still helpful right now!

Ideally fosters will have car & be able to transport to us in Hollywood OR Garden Grove in case any basic medical arises.

Yukon is still available! 🥔

From his foster: Yukon is an unbelievably sweet, confident, gentle and beautiful big boy. He loves attention from humans and being pet. If you pet him and then stop, he will butt his head against your hand to ask for more. Often he will roll onto his back right at your feet to get some love. He loves playing, especially with balls and mice toys. He does great with other cats. Due to his relaxed nature, a home with a calm dog seems possible if introduced slowly. He would be the perfect addition to any family.

Yukon showed up at our friends feral colony several months ago. He was obviously a dumped/abandoned friendly who had found his way to these other cats in order to survive. They kindly fed & cared for him outside & sought rescue to get him off the streets. In the meantime they had him neutered back in October. He was TNR’ed because he had nowhere else to go. 🙏🏽

I am happy to announce that 2 days ago Yukon was brought to safety. Merry Christmas Yukon & welcome to your new life sweet boy! 🥔🎄

Yukon is currently being temp held at warehouse but we would love to find him a traditional foster home with a family to cuddle with, until we can find his forever home!

We will get him fully vetted prior to departure to foster/adopter. He doesn’t mind other cats but would do just as well as the only cat in the home.

🌲 Holiday Update:
We are out of town for one week this month to celebrate the holidays with family. We have a sitter but would love not to pile 20 cats on her if possible 😹 We are still looking for a foster for Monica & Rachel for that week. We have secured fosters for Chandler, Joey, Betty, Sterling, and Swarovski. Still also looking for a foster for Babybel. May still need someone for Whiteclaw too. 🤍

When we return we are taking back Dixie, Marigold, & Stanislaus from foster, taking 1 kitty from a fellow rescuer who we committed to last month, and helping 2 cats off Skid Row from the situation we were lead into after helping out at the Hollywood fire in July.

During our time “off” we will still be assisting our 54 foster families remotely like it’s our full time job, and I’m really hoping to finally get our entire roster of adoptables up onto Petfinder (the laggy bane of my existence 😅). If you are fostering for us & have any new updated pics don’t forget to keep blasting me with them via email or text. Let’s get some more adoptions slated for the rest of December & January 💕🙏🏽

We will slowly begin to pulse intake again as long as we can continue to source fosters nearby Hollywood/able to transport to us for all vetting needs etc.

What a milestone! 🫶🏼

We’ve had 21 adoptions in December so far from Dec 1-14. We typically average about 5 adoptions per month to give you some context. All of our adopters are found via Petfinder, Instagram, or word of mouth. We do not have a brick & mortar (obviously 🤣) to show our cats at, although that’s definitely something we’re interested in come 2024 (a Petsmart vibe if you hear of any openings in LA)!
14 out of the 21 adoptions were from foster-to-adopt, meaning they had the kitty adjusting in their home for a minimum of 2 weeks (some of these up to 6 months 🙀). Multiple approved adopters drove all the way from San Diego & Palm Springs! With gas prices these days… we are SO grateful for that level of dedication!

All 21 of these kitties’ adopters are committed, communicative, caring, patient, and overjoyed to breathe new life into their homes. They have all been nothing but a pleasure to work with.

We are so so grateful to have so much support from our fosters, to our adopters, to our fans and followers who are constantly sharing photos and stories of our adoptable kitties, to our monthly donors who are the backbone in supporting our vetting protocols, to our transporters who will drop what they’re doing on a whim to run to the vet, to our fellow rescuers working around the clock doing the exact same thing as us and always ready for a phone call of venting, and everyone else who has ever lifted a single finger for us.

The culmination of all of our hard work together is all of these kitties safe and warm in their forever homes during this holiday season. This work is grueling & neverending, but we would and will do it all over again in a heartbeat to keep seeing more kitties find their forever families.

We also received 2 bonus kittens today that we were unaware of until they arrived unexpectedly with Betty’s x3 siblings (due to no one’s fault just a miscommunication).

To my delight they have coccidia 🤣 so they will need to stay here with us while we treat. Ran a Panleuk test which was negative so anything else I can deal with! I believe they are both boys but it is a bit hard to tell at the moment due to the leaky butt stuff happening. I do know they are incredibly sweet & purr when I pet them so we are happy to welcome them here. 🩶🩶

Today they got flea & worm treatment, vaccine #1, and I started them on Albon/metro.
