CONGRATULATIONS, KATHERINE - ADOPTED!

Katherine stood out in her litter as the lone Siamese mix in a sea of cow kitties. Last Sunday, we listed her for adoption. This Sunday, her foster mom, Andrea, delivered her to her new forever home with her new kitty parents, Rafael and Xandrea, who applied to adopt her earlier this week. After meeting her yesterday at her foster mom's home, they knew she was the girl for them. She'll have two teenage human siblings, an 11-year-old tortie sibling named Sassy, and, on Tuesday, will be joined by another kitten her new family plans to adopt from the Rancho Cucamonga shelter. We are absolutely elated for Katherine, and, as you can see, she's already made herself right at home in her new digs.

You might remember baby Katherine and her three siblings as they were all babies when they were admitted with their mom, Momma Maybel (later changed to Momma Emi), while at Devore Animal Shelter in June of this year.

Congratulations, Katherine, and big thanks to her amazing foster mom, Andrea! Without foster parents like Andrea, little girls like Katherine and her mom and brothers would not have opportunities to live the fabulous, pampered lives they were born to live—well-loved and overflowing with happiness!

MEET SQUEEK!

Hi! My name is Squeek, and my sister, Whiskers, and I are foster kitties looking for a forever home to call our very own. Although we would LOVE to be adopted together, it's okay if we're adopted separately. Back in March 2024, when my sister and I were only six weeks old, someone abandoned us in an apartment complex in San Bernardino. The lady who found us couldn't keep us but didn't want to take us to the shelter, so she contacted Kitty Devore Rescue to see if they had someone to care for us - and they did! They picked us up, and we took a trip to Temecula where, for five months, we were cared for by a lovely lady and her young son. They loved us dearly and even wanted to keep us, but their life took an unfortunate turn and, in the end, couldn't. That's when we came to live with our new foster family in San Diego. We love our new foster family, especially their two young girls, who always make time to play with us.

I am a little smaller than my sister, Whiskers, and while I love doing all the fun things kittens do, I must admit my very favorite thing is to cuddle up next to my humans while they work, watch TV, or read. I love other kitties, but I love people most of all, especially kids who love kitties like me. I haven't met any dogs yet, but since I'm still young, I could probably warm up to a kitty-friendly doggie.

MEET WHISKERS!

Hi! My name is Whiskers, but my foster family calls me Whisky Girl for fun! They're also fostering my twin sister, Squeek, and although we would LOVE to be adopted together, it's okay if we're adopted separately. MEET LUCIE AND LES!

When Lucie, Les, and their brother Layne were born in April 2024, their momma chose the crawl space of a nearby home for shelter. A neighbor lady made sure mom ate twice a day. When the three kittens weaned, the friendly neighbor lady fed them, too. Eventually, she gained the trust of the little family and brought them all indoors where they'd be safe. She hoped to find the perfect home for each but needed some help. A longtime Kitty Devore Rescue foster mom pointed her in our direction, assuring her that if she continued to foster the family, we'd happily take them into our foster care program and find fantastic homes with people who would love them for the rest of their lives.

Lucie comforts and soothes those around her with her soft purrs and warm presence. Initially a timid kitten, she blossomed into a gregarious, energetic young lady. Les is a gentle giant, ready to offer a paw to those in need and a warm snuggle to anyone feeling down. MEET HARLO!

This adorable mini-panther was approximately nine weeks old when he entered Kitty Devore's foster care on July 19, 2024.

Someone brought Harlo to Devore Animal Shelter after being found at a structure fire in Fontana. Luckily, he only suffered singed whiskers and fur. When he arrived at his foster home, Harlo was understandably nervous around people. Even though he was scared, he was a perfect gentleman when given a bath on the first day. Signs quickly appeared, indicating that he was becoming more comfortable - his toys would be moved from their original spots, and tiny black paws started appearing under the door of his room when curious kittens were waiting outside.

It didn't take long for this little guy to transform into a confident and playful kitten who can keep up with his foster siblings, no problemo! He walks around the house with his tail held high and happily accepts human hands reaching out to pet him randomly. He can't resist turning on the motor when picked up and cuddled. Harlo also enjoys phone screens and watching TV - he'll hop up on the back of the couch to drape himself over a shoulder and join the viewing party.

Harlo would love to be adopted with one of his foster siblings from the Math Cat family (Leonhard, Newton, Katherine, or Isac). He is especially fond of his surrogate mom, Emi. His foster home has no dogs, so his feelings about a canine companion have yet to be determined.

MEET LEONHARD!

This spunky guy was approximately six weeks old when he entered Kitty Devore's foster care on June 23, 2024.

Leonhard instantly stood out as the loudest member of his family, singing the song of his people the entire car ride home from the shelter. He was willing to ask questions, voice his concerns, and speak to the management about his demands (mainly for canned food). Anyone who visits his foster home immediately asks about this little kitty with a big personality - even the veterinarian remembers him. His fearless approach to life is most evident in his tussles with the robot vacuum. Only the bravest of cats is willing to face such a foe.

But Leonhard also has a soft side that shows when he asks to be picked up and cuddled, falls asleep draped over a shoulder on the back of the couch, or snuggles up with one of his siblings. At the heart of his talkative nature is a desire to be acknowledged and loved.

Leonhard has a bow-legged walk and an oddly shaped body, and the vet thinks he might breathe loudly from time to time because of his crooked nose, but these things can't keep a big boss kitty down. He has friends to make, toys to play with, laps to sleep on, and a whole world to explore. Because of his active spirit, Leonhard needs to be in a home with another active kitty that can keep him entertained. This beautiful little lady was approximately six weeks old when she entered Kitty Devore's foster care on June 23, 2024.

Katherine stands out in her litter as the lone Siamese mix in a sea of cow kitties. But she isn't just a pretty face; she's also a smarty pants. Newton is a sweetheart who is willing to let the more attention-seeking kitties have the limelight. Even as a baby, he was a slow, calm eater who needed to be separated from his hungry hippo siblings at meal time. He's a sensitive kitten who learns quickly what not to do because he doesn't like to be reprimanded. Most kittens barely take notice of a human request, but Newton has an internal desire to be the best student in the class. He's also a playful little guy who can find joy in any toy. Even though he might not play as rough as some of the other kittens, he definitely naps hard. Newton is notorious for slowly migrating toward the edge of his sleeping spot, waking up to find himself slipping down a level.

MEET ISAC!

This adorable cow kitty was approximately six weeks old when he entered Kitty Devore's foster care on June 23, 2024.

Isac fulfills the role of the youngest sibling in his litter of four - he's small, has a "pet me" face that is impossible to resist and tends to follow the other kittens' lead. Isac adores people - following his foster parents around the house to see what they're up to, rubbing up against their legs, and falling asleep in adorable positions on the couch with them (assuring that they won't get up until he moves). MEET EMI!

This miniature Savannah cat was approximately one year old when she entered Kitty Devore's foster care in June 2024.

Though she may start off a little shy, Emi's playful side quickly shines through, especially with her fellow feline friends. Whether chasing after a toy or snuggling up with a kitten, Emi knows how to get along with cats of all ages, and she's happiest when she has company.

She's still learning to trust humans, but Emi grows more confident with them each day. She loves to be petted and starts purring after a few good chin scratches. MEET MOON, THE CHIMERA!

Can you believe this exceptional and rare little girl was found with her brother Shahdow and sister Joie hovering near an apartment complex dumpster on a chilly October night in 2023 when they were just two months old? With crusted eyes, sniffling noses, and starving bellies, each struggled to survive their unfriendly environment. Thankfully, their rescuers didn't hesitate to scoop them up and bring them indoors where they'd be safe and fed. Still, because the babies were in such dire condition, their new guardians worried they might not persevere. Later, when they shuttled the kittens to our vet, he diagnosed them with severe upper respiratory infections, a bad case of ringworm, and critical malnourishment. And Moon had an additional issue. Somehow, in her struggle to survive, something had scraped off her lower lip. Thankfully, as her veterinarian said it would, her lip's skin healed, but it exposed her toothy grin, so she always appears to be smiling.

Now, Moon is a special kind of kitty - a chimera (ky-mare-ah). The chance of a kitty being born a chimera is less than 1%! Internally, chimera cats have two sets of DNA and can often have two blood types. Still, they're easily recognizable because they have different colored fur on each side of their face, with a nearly straight line separating the two colors - just as Moon does. They get their name from a fantastical fire-breathing beast from Greek mythology that was a mix of a lion, goat, and serpent. So, naturally, Moon is a fierce little fighter with an indomitable will. However, because of her challenging experiences as a baby, she is shy and very cautious around new people and other cats, but her true colors shine once they earn her trust. Shy, however, does not mean demure and quiet. She's very vocal about her food and won't hesitate to make her demands known.

Moon the Chimera would thrive best in a home with adults and no dogs. MEET ROSY!

We didn't know, and the shelter staff didn't know, but she was expecting when we rescued Rosy in early August 2023! Her foster parents didn't anticipate kittens as part of the fostering deal, but they learned the happy news after a veterinary exam appointment. We were concerned though. Rosy, just one year old then, was so thin and malnourished. We had just enough time to help her fortify her body in anticipation of her bundles of joy. A month after her rescue, Rosy welcomed identical gray quadruplets on September 6th - Ace, Charlie, Bootz, and her single daughter, Jannie.

Rosy, just like an actual rose, takes time to bloom. Her foster parents discovered that patience and dedicated love enabled Rosy to blossom into the most loving of companions to humans and other cats alike. After a hard life on the streets, she relishes her leisure time and indoor life, lounging in her bowl scratchers for hours on end. MEET BONNIE!

We welcomed Bonnie into KD foster care in February 2024. At eight years old, we considered Bonnie a mature adult upon entering our foster program. The very first thing on the agenda was a visit to our vet for a comprehensive check-up, snap testing, booster vaccines, spay/neuter confirmation, and a senior blood panel. The last is vital for incoming middle-aged kitties. They may look perfectly healthy, but bloodwork will tell us if there are any underlying issues we should be aware of and, if possible, treat. We are pleased to say Bonnie's bloodwork was stellar! However, her teeth need some attention and a couple of extractions. Bonnie underwent a dental cleaning and had three bad teeth pulled. Now, she's in tip-top shape and ready for her new forever home.

Gracious, quiet, and independent, Bonnie enjoys her alone time. Despite her Siamese beauty and gorgeous coat, she's very low maintenance. The company of humans pleases her, though, and she'll always find you in the evenings for some cuddles and pets. She loves wet food and sings a special song of her own composition when she hears the can crack open. She's a great conversationalist, too, and once she gets to know you, she can become chatty and opinionated. Bonnie would thrive best in a home without children or dogs.
