Golden Years Dog Sanctuary

Golden Years Dog Sanctuary Saving senior dogs so they may enjoy the last bit of their life with love and freedom from cages. Fostering at risk cats and kittens from local shelters.
(12)

Golden years dog sanctuary is our way to help senior dogs. My husband and I rescue senior dogs from local shelters to give them the best of the rest of their life. Living in a semi-rural canyon outside Los Angeles dogs were dumped at our horse farm all the time. When the dogs stopped being dumped; we went to the shelters instead. we always went for the older, less attractive, dogs that no one else

wanted. Since we could only have 3 dogs in Los Angeles county, even though we own 11 acres; we obtained an excessive animal permit. Now we can have up to 18 dogs at a time. we became a 501c so those who would like to help up feed and care for these dogs can make their contribution tax deductible. We have expanded our rescue efforts by fostering dogs as well as always having 18 at the sanctuary. join us in saving a life: Foster or adopt today.

Yes, these 2 cats look a little stressed. these are our latest fosters from the Lancaster shelter. While we would love to get them into homes, I think that they would be happier if they were outside in the barn. of course we want them to have a safe place, but I don't think they're very happy they're in a house. we only get a short time to foster and there are other cats that need our help. so when these get adopted, will be able to help others. So open your home and open your heart and adopt today! please share! Please call or email Susan today! 818.636.1522 [email protected] ย

Let me just say...good intentions are not enough! If you want to help, do it! Don't say you do and then don't...with that off my chest....this is casha and cayla. They are 16-year-old sisters they were owners rendered to the castaic shelter from a private breeder. we desperately need to find a home for them. we would love for them to go together, but they are not bonded. we just need someone who wants to give these 2 the best of the rest of their lives. contrary to previous thoughts....cayla can get up and walk around on her own and she is not blind! Casha has a permanent head tilt that doesn't bother; her she negotiates everything just fine. they're both sweet, friendly, non-aggressive.they get along with other dogs And just deserve to have the best of the rest of their life. we can't do this without your help. we are overwhelmed with fosters that want to bring back dogs we are unable to pull anything from the shelters until these 2 and a few others get homes. so step up to the plate today and save a life and enrich yours. Our foster application can be found on our website at www.goldenyearsdogsanctuary.com.Please call or email Susan today! 818.636.1522 [email protected]

Need some goofy in your life? Clyde is the guy for you! We finally made it to the vet for a check up and bloodwork. My vet is certain this dog is NOT a senior. She guesstimate him to be about 5 years old!!! He is the coolest dog. Loves to play with water and wade in his kiddie pool. Heis great with all dogs, big and small. He is good with people. HE NEEDS A HOME !!! Golden years dog sanctuary is for the old, sick, unwanted over 12 crowd...not a place for a dog in the prime of his life . You can foster to adopt, to make sure he's the one for you! Our application can be found at www.goldenyearsdogsanctuary.com. call or email Susan with aby questions. 818.636.1522 [email protected]

You can support us by setting up a monthly donation through PayPal or venmo at [email protected] or using snail mail. Any amount helps. One time donations help too! We can't do what we do without your support. Donate today and let's start saving the next 50 dogs!

That's right cowpokes, it's time for another edition of Master Chef Cowboy Style / Great Pioneer Bake-Off!

We are not only looking to sell tickets to you to be a judge, but we are also scouring the ranches and picket lines for any cookie's worth their salt - to enter their guarded family recipe chili or their "pie the way grandma used to make".

Seating is limited and we do sell out, so reserve (or better yet - pay now and save $5). Contact details on flyer below. Also use the contact if you want to enter a Chili or Pie into competition.

Your ticket gets you a taste of each of the chili's and a ballot to vote on the "best" and the "hottest". You will also get some sides to go with the chili, water, coffee and a piece of pie.

The charities for which we will be raising money are: the Golden Dog Sanctuary and our friends at the Burbank VFW (where the event will be held).

Are you looking for a sweet, loving playful one year old cat that is great with people and other cats? Then adopt me, sq**rt! I was brought to the West Valley shelter as a stray on June 19th. They named me kelsey, and i was quickly adopted out on the 28th. then they brought me back on July 9th saying that I wasn't healthy. I was healthy! But the stress at the shelter gave me diarrhea. the shelter couldn't fix me so they wanted to kill me. Luckily, rescued me! I would love to have a forever home. I'm only a year and a 1/2 and I have many years in front of me to give you love and attention. When you adopt me it gives the sanctuary space to be able to save another cat or kitten. So save three lives: yours, mine and the next lucky cat that gets rescued. The adoption process is easy and you can find our application at www.goldenyearsdogsanctuary.com.

We are still in need of a home for these two, sweet 16 year old aussie sisters. We rescued them last week from the Castaic shelter. We had a "committed" foster who bailed on us 6 hours in. Thankfully, she kept them for a week, but now they need a home. They are safe at our sanctuary, but this can only be temporary. Our dogs live together in freedom, and these two cute girls cannot be out with our senior boys who are all acting like teenage boys. Keeping them in a kennel, even one as big as my bedroom, is not the life they deserve. Cayla is on carprofen and is not only walking more, but can get up on her own. Casha with the head tilt just loves to be with people. Our application to foster can be found at www.goldenyearsdogsanctuary.com. email Susan with any questions or to foster.

ISO my forever home. I'm sq**rt. I'm a super sweet loving and friendly 1.5-year-old spayed bundle of love. I was first brought to the shelter on June 19th as a stray, and adopted out on the 28th. I was returned on July 9th, they said I had respiratory problems, but I didnt.. I was very nervous and stressed at the shelter and had diarrhea. I didn't respond to medication so the shelter thought they should kill me. a wonderful rescue pulled me, and guess what, I don't have diarrhea! I'm not sick at all. I'm totally healthy and I really want a forever home. I get along great with other cats and people. I'm potty trained and not picky about my food. you won't regret having me as your new best friend. Hobbs would love a soft place to land for whatever time he has left. he has an aggressive bone cancer and the shelter considered him a hospice. Since he has a looming expiration date, they wanted to euthanize him. With the help of a Good Sam, he had surgery to remove the cancerous leg. His prognosis is still poor. You wouldn't know that looking at him. He looks healthy and fat....just three legged. We rescued him from the shelter, but now he needs a forever home. He is ok with other cats. We would take care of medical. You just love him. If you are interested in fostering this awesome boy, please complete our easy, short application. Our Story

Now a 501c3 non-profit organization! Our mission is to provide a loving home to at-risk and senior dogs and to foster at risk cats and kittens.

My husband and I started Golden Years Dog Sanctuary to help senior dogs. We love to rescue senior dogs from local shelters to give them love and freedom until their time is up. Living in a semi-rural canyon outside Los Angeles dogs were dumped at our horse farm all the time. When the dogs stopped being dumped; I went to the shelters instead. I always went for the older, less attractive, dogs that no one else wanted. Since we could only have 3 dogs in Los Angeles county, even though we own 11 acres; we obtained an excessive animal permit. Now we can have up to 18 dogs at a time.

I also volunteer at the Los Angeles County Castaic Animal Shelter. We started fostering unweaned and weaned kittens in 2017. We fostered 30 kittens and momma cats in 2017. Most of these kittens need extra veterinarian care and special food. We paid for those costs ourselves because it was important for us to fight for these kittens and help them become healthy enough to adopt.

In 2018, I asked if we could also work with the โ€œferalโ€ cats. Any cat that hisses, strikes, tries to bite, or is otherwise unmanageable when it comes into the shelter is deemed a โ€œCautionโ€ or feral cat. Most of those cats get euthanized. Since the beginning of 2018, we have worked with nearly a dozen of these โ€˜feralโ€ cats, helping them overcome their fears and finding them loving homes.
