On Monday we introduced you to one of our new medical students, Neville, and we wanted to give you an update. Neville was in the hospital for a couple days while multiple diagnostics were performed and he received aggressive supportive care. Last night he was discharged to one of our medical fosters and seen by Kitty Bungalow’s staff veterinarian today. Unfortunately, it appears that Neville’s neurological symptoms are progressing which is pointing towards neuro FIP, although it is not a definitive diagnosis. Tonight, he was started on FIP injections in an effort to try to save his life while we wait for test results. Please send Neville all your good thoughts and healing energy! Hiss to Home is one of the most important lessons for our Charm School kittens, but some special students require one-on-one tutoring. Meet Menchie! Menchie is one of our recent TNEs (trap, neuter, enroll) that came in on National Frozen Yogurt Day (Feb 6) and, unfortunately, she was falling behind in her charm lessons. Menchie went home with one of our socialization foster parents who has been working with her daily and, with the help of lots of Churu, has discovered her multiple purrsonalities. Currently, there is angry cage Menchie, cuddly blanket Menchie, and sweet but unsure blanket in cage Menchie. However, she is definitely on her way to becoming sweet and cuddly Menchie full time and we can’t wait to see her transformation. Neville would like you to know that he demands attention! Please welcome KB’s newest special student, Neville. This funny eared sweetheart with thumbs made his way to Charm School yesterday after the city shelter reached out looking for a rescue to take on a medical case. For reasons not yet known, Neville has neurological symptoms that include wobbliness
and an inability to fully stand or walk. He also has been losing weight and isn’t eating much. Despite all this, Neville is in good spirits and wants nothing more than to be cuddled and loved by everyone. He is currently at the hospital getting a full work up and will more than likely need to see a neurologist in the near future. It is only thanks to your generosity that we are able to help kittens like Neville. Safe to say Seraphina is feeling MUCH better. After a few weeks in our care we are happy to say she has a voracious appetite and is gaining a healthy amount of weight each day. We can’t imagine how long she suffered in that state but are so fortunate she is with us now. Stay tuned for future updates on this gal who has stolen our hearts.

Can’t stop, won’t stop! Yesterday we were able to help facilitate 34 TNRs thanks to our community members and our partners at ✂️🐈‍⬛

34 cats earned their ear tips and will rock them as a badge of honor! They’re some of the lucky ones who will no longer be able to procreate resulting in more unwanted litters this kitten season 👎

Happy from our hot mess express, Seraphina! 👅

This little lady was in rough shape when she came to us but the good news is, it can only go up from here! After a fresh shave to get all that nastiness off of her she is feeling’ fresher than ever.

On this Medical Monday, we would like to share another special little soul, Sage. This little fighter came to us a week and a half ago as a TNE (trap, neuter, enrollee) through our TNR program. When he got to Charm School he was skinny, sick, and covered in f***s. Little Sage had a severe upper respiratory infection that caused him to be so congested that he didn’t want to eat. With the help of our School Nurse and dedicated Med Team, Sage is now well on his way to making a full recovery and has even gained 59% of his body weight since coming to Charm School.

Due to his strength to keep fighting and his lovable nature, Sage was named in honor of another young, beautiful soul that left the world way too soon. Fable Sage was the beautiful baby boy of one of our friends and supporters, , and was the light of their mom’s life and was so full of joy and warmth for others. ❤️‍🩹

Here at Kitty Bungalow, we try our best to focus on the positives and highlight all the happiness of animal welfare, but unfortunately, rescue is not always cute kittens and success stories. Two weeks ago, our Medical Monday model was an adorable kitten named Bean with a severely broken leg and a heart murmur. That week, Bean had his echocardiogram done with a veterinary cardiologist who reported that he had a very small VSD or ventricular septal defect, which is a small hole in the dividing wall of the two ventricle chambers of his heart. She said that this defect was very minor, would most likely correct itself over time, and he was cleared to undergo anesthesia. This last Friday Bean went to the hospital to have his fracture repaired or leg amputated, depending on if it could be repaired. While he made it through the 45 minute surgery to repair his leg, to everyone’s horror, Bean unexpectedly coded and crashed while in recovery. The surgery team tried their best to get him back, but he was gone. This came as an absolute shock to everyone who cared for Bean, including the veterinary teams. While we still don’t know what went wrong, Bean’s sudden passing is a reminder of how precious life is and why it is important to celebrate the small and big wins in animal rescue. 💔
