Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats TNR's cats and rescues undersocialized kittens in LA

Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats socializes feral kittens, taking hissy little babies and turning them into purring little lap cats. We believe in force love and provide a cage free environment and one-on-one attention to each feral kitten. Through physical exercises and delicious food bribes, Charm School volunteer teachers earn the trust and love of the kittens, and bring them to the

understanding that there is a wonderful human home waiting to give them the love and security they deserve. Upon graduation, these kittens continue to blossom in their new homes growing into the most wonderful house cats a family could desire.

One of our all time favorite from stories is none other than Norman Bates!

Norman was enrolled in Charm School via our working cat program in 2022. We believed he was the epitome of feral and let us know he had many thoughts about being in Charm School. Fortunately, Norman landed in the right place at the right time, even though he may have disagreed. Norman’s shelter records indicated that he had some underlying medical issues that needed to be addressed. Turns out Norman had a nasal fungal infection called cryptococcus. Sadly, if left untreated, it can spread to the brain which can cause seizures, blindness and eventually death. After 558 days of treatment, Norman’s titer levels were finally down to 0 and have remained there. Without the help of our dedicated volunteers, med team and Norman Bates would not be here. We here at KB believe that even though cats might be feral or undersocialized, they deserve a chance too.

On this Medical Monday, let’s briefly chat about ear tips. Recently we were asked why some of our adoptable students have ear tips and the answer is because they are TNE kittens: trap, neuter, enroll! These kittens come to Charm School through our TNR (trap, neuter, return) program and, if they are old enough and well enough, they go for their spay/neuter surgery as a TNR cat prior to being enrolled. An ear tip is the universally accepted way to signify that a community cat has been spayed or neutered and is done while they are under anesthesia for surgery. Since it is done during surgery, ear tipping is not painful and it heals rather quickly. The ear tips help caretakers and animal control officers easily identify which free-roaming community cats have and have not been spayed/neutered since getting close to unsocialized cats can be extremely difficult. For us here at Kitty Bungalow, ear tips are a badge of honor and are something to be celebrated! ❤️🐈🐈‍⬛🎉

Meet Soup 🥣

Half cat, half magical unicorn! 🦄 Not only does Soup have Heterochromia (two different colored eyes) but he also has a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia! This condition does not cause him any pain or discomfort! However, it does make him a little wobbly, which adds to his cuteness. Soup is good with other cats, is super silly, and most of all is a love bug. Stop by PETCO in Westwood to meet him this weekend!

When things feel heavy, our pets are right there to lift us up and provide a sense of comfort. This week we will be featuring some of our adoptables in hopes that they can offer some joy during these heavy times and maybe even catch the eye of their future families.

Meet Kelpie and Algae, bonded pair of brothers looking for their forever. Kelpie - he’s the first to say hello when foster mom comes home. He loves to chase his tail and play haired ties. He’s a lover, an observer and a bit shy. Algae is the leader of the two and guides his brother, Kelpie, through life like two peas in a pod. Algae is a gentle soul who loves belly rubs and will plop down in front of you when it’s time for pets. When these boys aren’t rough housing with each other they’re cuddled up in their favorite spot on the cat tree.

If you’re interested in learning more about these two adorable brothers, fill out an application today or email our adoption team to arrange a meet and greet!

As the LA fires continue, Kitty Bungalow has been busy supporting our partners help shelter animals and displaced pets.

A huge thank you to all the foster inquiries, and your patience as we sort through them all.

Right now, donations of pet food and monetary funds are needed most. ❤️

Over the last several days, Kitty Bungalow has welcomed a bunch of new faces to Charm School in order to help open up needed space at Los Angeles shelters. Our Medical Monday feature is one of these new faces named W***y, also known as William when he is naughty. Silly W***y arrived at the city shelter with an obvious eye issue and an upper respiratory infection. While it was initially recommended that W***y should have his eye removed, our veterinarian has hope that we might be able to save his eye with oral antibiotics and multiple antibiotic eye drops several times a day. Only time will tell if he will remain William or become One-Eyed W***y.

🐾❤️ A HUGE thank you to our amazing supporters! Your generous donations of goods and funds, along with your commitment to fostering, have made a tremendous impact on the lives of our rescue cats. We are so grateful for each and every one of you!

Today, we dropped off essential food & supplies ensuring that people and pets have the support they need during this time. Over the past two days, we welcomed 8 new cats and kittens from the shelters into our care! 🎉🐱

As we continue to evaluate our capacity for care, we’re determining how many more furry friends we can help. If you’re looking to make a difference, consider adopting one of our available cats or making a donation to support our lifesaving efforts. Every little bit helps us save more lives!

Thank you for being part of our rescue family! Together, we’re making a difference one paw at a time. 🐾💖

Meet Charm Schools newest enrollees! 🚌♥️✏️

We are doing our part to help make space at our local shelters for incoming injured and displaced animals. With that being said, we want to thank EVERYONE who has applied to foster since we sent out our plea. We have received SO many inquiries and our Foster team is diligently going through the dozens of applications to best match them with a potential foster. We appreciate your patience and your willingness to step up and help!

NOTE: We will not be hosting open adoptions at PETCO this weekend but we will be back next Saturday and Sunday! If you are looking to adopt, please email our adoptions team to find out more about our currently available Students! 🎓

We all know the last few days have been unlike anything we have seen due to the severity and loss of the fires. We cannot thank the countless first responders and good samaritans on the ground for working tirelessly to try and contain these fires.

Everyone in Los Angeles is affected, and we realize that some of you may have experienced unimaginable loss. Know that we are here for you.

🐱 Over the past few days, our team has been in touch with our local shelter partners to see how we can best help. We are currently intaking cats and kittens from multiple LA city shelters over the next few weeks to make room for displaced and injured animals that come in from the fire zones.

🐱 If you are ready and available to foster, please contact our foster team at [email protected].

🐱 We are also doing a donation drive here at the Bungalow to help those families who have had to evacuate with their pets. Our partners at PETCO West Hollywood and PETCO Westwood will also receive donations. Cat and dog food, carriers, leashes, blankets, toys, and beds are needed.

Meet Boop! Not a newly enrolled student but a new adoptable! Boop was enrolled in Charm school via our Working Cat Program a few months back but surprise… he had ringworm! Lucky for us, ringworm ain’t no thang. Our med team quickly started treatment and throughout the process we learned a Boop was not feral, but fearful! Once he began to trust us and was cleared of ringworm he was sent off to foster care to learn how to be a cat. Since he’s been in foster we have learned that:

- he’s obsessed with bird tv 🦜
- he loves to wrestle and run around and would really do GREAT with another companion kitty to continue his shenanigans
- he is learning to accept being held but it’s a work in progress but boy he sure loves pets

Fill out an application today or email our adoptions team at [email protected]
