Our dear friend Gracie suddenly died a few days ago. She was 9, and in pretty good health, but then a mass on her spleen erupted.

She was one of Cassie's oldest friends, and helped us bring in all the youngsters currently in our pack, from Turtle to Maverick. All the puppies loved her, and she'd show them that they were safe with the rest of the big dogs.

She became Whiskey's big sister, beating him up while also helping him level out. She even got to camp in the snow with me and Cassie! She was snugly, playful like a puppy, and basically the sweetest dog I've ever met.

We are so devastated and lost without her, but also feel incredibly lucky to have spent so much time with such a great dog.
