Gateway WSSC would like to congratulate our Scentwork, Obedience, Rally and Iron Welsh Challenge Welshies!



In WSSCA’s inaugural Scentwork Trials, Susan Merriken’s Camden earned both High In Trial Advanced awards and Brenda Palmgren and Cooper earned the High In Trial Novice award for Trial 2. Lots of “A” dogs competing, which is wonderful to see!

Our High In Trial Obedience dog was Bev Garaux’s boy Odie in Novice B. In Rally, Merrielle Turnbull’s Twig earned the High Combined Triple and High Combined Excellent/Advanced awards. Then she retired from rally!

And in the Iron Welsh, there were 8 qualifiers! The Gold Medalist was Tilly (Andrea Pease), the Silver Medalist was Mason (Jenna Dockweiler), and the Bronze Medalist was Heidi (Frank & Aki Pampush) - after a 4-way tie!

The other qualifiers were Bobby (Betsie Czeschin & Susan Riese), Sully (Cheryl Clark), Yogi (Katie Lewandowski), Odie (Bev Garaux), and Twig (Merrielle Turnbull).

We had to use all our tie breakers to determine final Bronze ( # of events with Qs, # of events entered, total # of Qs). Pretty fabulous that both Mason and Twig are ten years old and still in performance competitions.


Congratulations to everyone who competed with their super smart Welshies!

For those going to the Welshie Scentwork trial: There are TWO Shepherdsville roads. The scent work venue is on Shepherdsville road in Louisville and only 10 minutes from the expo area. Not Shepherdsville road in Shepherdsville.

Advanced parking is available at kyexpo.org Getting it on-line is slightly cheaper than at the gate. Parking with in/out privileges is available at the gate only.

The Judging Program for the National Specialty weekend is up on the MBF website. 8:00 ring times each day for conformation.

The Health Seminar on Thursday March 16 will be in room W7 and will start at 12:30 (pending a conflict with ring times.)

The Annual Business Meeting will be in Room W1 on Saturday, March 18. Cash bar from 5:00-6:30.

There is a change of judge for Saturday's shows. Richard Powell will be judging Welsh. Evidently the cluster has lost several judges to illness and have been scrambling to get substitutes lined up.
