So this happened today: surgery on an axolotl! One of my juveniles had a cyst. So we anesthetized and cut it off. So far so good! (I am a veterinarian, in case you didn't know that! But first time I have ever performed non-mammalian surgery!)

Seriously unique. This GFP clutch produced nearly half with bent tails. I call it squirrel tail. A handful have close to 90 degree bend while others less affected. Axolotl research professionals at University of KY were consulted and their guess it is a genetic recessive gene. They took some of them to work on isolating gene. They are ready to go if anyone is interested in one of these. Message me for details. Lucys, wilds and gold albinos.
