This weekends project was to completely redo the inside of the goat house. Originally when I got the farm just the goats slept in their hence why I call it the goat house but as I expanded my farm animals it is now housing all the adult chickens, the pigs and the goats. So I had to make it more practical for everyone.

Saturday I cleaned it out and cleaned the floor really good. Sunday I tore down all the shelving that was originally in it and put up the pig house and goat platform. Today my mom helped me put the roosting bars together. It came out really nice. Roosting bars might need some adjusting but I’ll see how the chickens do tonight. I kind of eyeballed it.

Since owning the farm I have become even more handy and crafty building stuff. You learn to do things yourself to save money where you can. I’m pretty proud of myself for all the different structures and things for the farm animals I’ve done myself. My mom of course is designated holder.

Happy National Cat Day! Since everyone knows I have all the cats today is the day to recognize my cat clan. I’m not really sure how I ended up with so many but I don’t regret it. If anyone knows me I’m always rescuing the misfits nobody wanted and giving them a very spoiled life! It’s a problem I know but oh well. Cats are very easy to deal with in my opinion and you don’t even really know I have so many cats because they all do their own thing.

*read each caption to get a short story on how I ended up adopting each cat. As you can tell me and fostering cats didn’t go well and I always foster failed 😂. At this point I’ve given up and just accepted the fact I’m a crazy cat person and the cat distribution system just chooses me for all these misfit cats because I didn’t really plan on most of these cats.

It has been a crazy past couple of weeks. All the dogs and cats were due for annual checkups and a few of them needed shots. After 5 visits to the vet within 2 weeks all 3 dogs and 8 cats got clean bills of health. My wallet isn’t happy but at least everyone is healthy and happy.

Happy Official Adoption Day Clyde! A little more than 2 years ago I got a call from one of the local rescues I fostered for. She said I know your not looking for another cat but we have this very sick cat that isn’t thriving and I immediately thought of you. I of course said yes and scheduled an appointment to pick Clyde up. I knew nothing about him or what he looked like. All I knew is if an adoption director from a rescue calls me asking for me to take this cat that I’m going to do it.

Upon picking him up the vet tells me he has heartworm and he likely won’t live long because he was sick. I told them I’d do whatever I could to give him the best life for whatever time he had left. After having him for a week or so I noticed him perking up and being the sweetest cat ever. I immediately called them and told them I was adopting him. The director already knew that was going to happen because she knew the kind of person I was.

All Clyde needed was someone to love him and give him a fighting chance. I saw it in his eyes that he was a fighter. Now here we are a little passed 2 years and he’s as happy and healthy as ever! He got a much needed dental last year because his teeth were so bad the vet said if he didn’t die from heartworm he’d die from an infection from his bad teeth. So I took the gamble and had him get a dental. He immediately was a lot happier and was eating a lot better now that his broken and rooted teeth were gone.

My vet tells me that because heartworm doesn’t go away in cats that he might just drop dead at any moment but he shows no signs/symptoms of heartworm. He’s the happiest and sweetest cat I have. He’s acting completely normal and all his bloodwork shows he’s a perfectly healthy normal cat. He’s defeated the odds multiple times and always comes out strong so I’m just spoiling him and giving him the best life I can.

I’m truly thankful that I got that call because I don’t know what life would be life without my baby Clyde. He’s the best cat I could ask for and all he wants to do is snuggle and be right next to me.

Whoops I did it again! 😂

A few weeks ago I adopted 2 bunnies. I missed having a bunny and I had rabbit stuff so obviously it makes sense for me to get a rabbit instead of selling my rabbit things lol. I came across these 2 rabbits that were very neglected and severely matted. Nobody wanted to adopt them because they were half shaved and ratty looking. But you know me I like the ones others don’t. So I adopted them.

They both have their own spacious pen with an elevated bed, multiple hay feeders, water/food dishes, lots of chews, and a litter box. They are very spoiled rabbits already.

I’ve been brushing them and de-matting them slowly so they don’t get upset. Copper has all his hair back already he only had a few bald spot when I adopted him. Buster is now fully de-matted and his hair is growing back slowly. Buster was half bald and had mats all over him when I adopted him. I’ll be very excited to see Buster’s transformation because he has some interesting colors coming in.

Cooper is a lion head mix and buff colored.
Buster is a dwarf mix and black/brown colored.

Let’s Welcome the New Additions to the Farmily!

Franklin (Russian tortoise) was my niece Emma’s tortoise. She know longer wanted it so I took him.

Scout - mini Nubian 5 months old
Midnight (black with spots) and Chestnut (brown) - twin brothers mini Nubians 5 months old
Patches - mini Nubian 5 months on Monday

All the baby goats have the same father but different mothers except the twins. They are still very shy but they are very sweet once I catch them.

After the crazy summer I had I decided to treat myself to some baby goats because I’ve always wanted them. My older goats were all full grown when I got them so I never got to see them get bigger and grow up.

Update: Here a video of the road I was on and all the trees/branches down. Mind you that this is after cleanup from last night. But you can see in the video the 2 trees on the power lines were the ones coming down toward me and making sparks. Some of those big branches were the ones coming flying at my car and cracked my windshield.

Well I must have angels looking out for me last night! I was driving to walk dogs and got stuck right in the middle of a mini tornado. Not only did I manage to avoid getting taken out by 1 tree but 3 different trees came down not even 10 feet in front of me. I somehow only have a cracked windshield as a result. Luckily I have fast reflexes and reversed quickly enough to avoid the trees that were coming down or I would have gotten crushed. Definitely the scariest thing I’ve even been through. Definitely going to have grey hairs in the morning. Be careful everyone!

Ivy’s Redemption Post

I can’t even explain how proud I am of Ivy! She has changed into a completely different dog and she’s turned into the dog I knew she could always be. I’ve had tons of people and everyone in my family tell me to get rid of Ivy. Yes Ivy hasn’t always been the perfect dog and yes she has done some damage. I have had 3 different trainers come and work with her on her behavioral problems. They each had different training methods and the first 2 trainers there training methods didn’t work for her. After the huge dog incident in November I had one last hope to see if Ivy could change and be the dog I know she could be despite everything that’s happened. I couldn’t keep making excuses for her bad behavior and have her keep injuring the other dogs.

I reached out to this last trainer telling him he was my final hope so I could keep Ivy. He explain that his personal dog had the same exact behavior as Ivy before he got him and after a few months of hard work now he’s the best dog he has. So I had hope that I wouldn’t have to make the unthinkable decision of Ivy no longer being here.

People tell me to just rehome her into another home without animals. But it’s not that easy. I technically adopted Ivy illegally I guess you could say. She was supposed to be returned to the rescue she came from if the original owner could no longer keep her. I told said owner not to do that because she would be euthanized because of her issues. I told her I would take her and I would deal with the consequences of taking her on. Ivy was still a puppy and didn’t deserve to be euthanized. Also Ivy wouldn’t do well being the only animal. She has bonded with the other dogs and my cats. She sleeps with them everyday and gives them kisses. Ivy just needed to learn how to control her behavior without lashing out into a fight and I needed to learn how to correct that behavior properly before things escalated into a fight. The new trainer taught me how to control Ivy’s behavior and prevent things from escalating. The trainer taught me how to put Ivy in situations that would normally cause a fight in a controlled way to teach Ivy how to handle those situations properly. All the other trainers didn’t do that.

I regret not finding this trainer earlier and letting things get so out of hand before I did find him. But I can’t change what’s happened and I need to move on from the past. Both Ivy and I started with a clean slate and I worked my butt off turning her into the dog I knew she could be.

I am so proud to report that Ivy is now the dog I knew she could always be! She has shown me multiple times that she has changed. She was worth fighting for and could change her behavior. Ivy really is the sweetest happiest dog I have. She is just very misunderstood and people don’t like her because of her past behavior. Ivy is proving to all the haters that had no faith in her that she did change and she was worth fighting for!

In 17 years of dog sitting I’ve never had to crawl through a window to rescue a trapped dog but that happened today 😂. Somehow one of the senior dogs I’m watching managed to knock a picture down off the wall and get it jammed between the wall and the door. As a result it shut the door trapping the dog inside the bedroom. I called the owner because I didn’t know what to do. We were both laughing because we had no idea how she did this. Meanwhile the poor dog was crying in the bedroom. The owner told me to take the screen off the window and see if the window was unlocked. Thankfully it was but now I had to figure out how to crawl through this tiny window with my long ass body 🤣. I managed to get in and free the dog. Only to have the owner text me saying her ring doorbell was alerting her someone was breaking into the house 🤣. I guess the ring doorbell saw my long ass legs flailing in the air trying to get myself through the window 🤣!

Hopefully this brought some laughs for people that needed it! Picture of said dog because she was proud of herself!

I just came home from letting a dog out. I pulled into my driveway to Oreo having 15 baby chicks with her. 😳 She has been appearing and disappearing for a while now and I never knew where’s she’s been going. I guess I now know where’s she’s been. I hope their isn’t a bunch of roosters in this bunch. I just got my hen to rooster ratio somewhat managed. I have a couple of other chickens that have been disappearing and appearing too so hopefully they all haven’t been playing mother hen or I’m in serious trouble.

I can honestly say I have absolutely nothing to do with this surprise and I can’t say I’m mad about it. I almost lost a hand trying to catch this dang babies in my driveway she was not happy at all.

Farm Fresh Eggs are now available! I put some out everyday in the mini fridge in the farm stand. Sorry the chickens were being free loaders for so long.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

Please be sure to schedule any ANIMAL SITTING (not dog walking) request immediately to secure a spot. I will no longer be overbooking myself. I’m going to have to learn to say no. I will only be doing a limited amount of animals per day.

My animals are not handling me being gone for more than a few hours well and have started injuring themselves. They experienced a major traumatic event back in November resulting in the death of my dog Luna. They haven’t been the same since and are only getting worse.

I need to do what’s best for my animals and create a more consistent schedule. Sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding!

*If you already sent me dates your on my calendar so don’t worry. If I usually walk your dog weekly don’t be considered I take that already into consideration because I know I walk them.
