๐ Look at Sweet Faith go! ๐
This girl is conquering stairs now better than me! Every day she makes such amazing progress with her awesome fosters. It's incredible how she has gone from paralyzed to completely mobile in such a short time. It's all because of her strong will and her supportive foster family helping her the whole way! Fostering really does save lives, and according to Faith, performs miracles.
Faith has completed heartworm treatment, been fixed and vaccinated, and is ready for the right forever home โค๏ธ
๐ Rocko needs a hero! ๐
We need a rescue pull or home for this boy asap!
This boy is so sweet and goofy and playful! He really is a good boy who just needs someone with a little patience. He's never had a real home, and he's never been allowed to live inside. It'll be a new experience for him, but I think he'd potty train quick! He hates using the bathroom in his kennel at the shelter already.
Rocko is extremely dog friendly, and he's never met a stranger. He's a little on the hyper side (not too bad but still a little puppy), so he'd do better with older kids. Rocko also LOVES his toys more than anything else! Don't let him have stuffies unsupervised or they will quickly become un-stuffed ๐คฆโโ๏ธ He also loves rubber bones and benebones, which aren't as messy!
He's heartworm negative, up to date on prevention, fixed, and vaccinated!
Rocko is sponsored by Rachel Freeny - State Farm Insurance Agent and ready to go home with the right family willing to give him a chance!
Announcement:
We have decided that we will not be renewing our contract with the city next year. We will no longer operate the city shelter after September 31st. Our priority for the time being will be to get our animals into good foster homes.
I have loved this job, and I have loved these animals with all my heart. But unfortunately, it's impossible to continue this way.
We have always fought hard to try and do things the right way that would benefit the animals and everyone involved in the best way possible. Somehow that often put us at odds with those we were trying to help.
We will continue to rescue, and continue to advocate for the government and law being used thoroughly and properly to help animals in our state. It is definitely a statewide problem. I hope that one day, we can all fight together for the same thing โค๏ธ
It's not an end, it's a fresh start!
To clarify, we are not shutting down at all. We just are leaving the shelter, so we will return to foster-based rescue :) and we will be looking for new fosters going forward!
โผ๏ธKitty Updateโผ๏ธ
Our little buddy is doing fabulous so far. Eating, drinking, walking, and purring away like nothing ever happened.
I did decide to go with the name Ansel, because he definitely has a guardian watching over him, but I have written down all the other name suggestions so I can steal them for all the babies that come in the future ๐
Ansel is a very sweet boy, who loves attention. I dropped him off at Magnolia Animal Clinic-Dr. Dean Stringfellow to have his wounds shaved and cleaned up, vaccines, triple test, and they're going to neuter him while he's sedated. So he's getting the works! He'll be a whole new cat on Monday!
Stay tuned for the after photos!
๐ We're hanging in there! ๐
Our kitty from yesterday is eating and doing well so far. He's active and alert, and he is much more hydrated today. The medicine has made him a good bit more comfortable so far!
If he continues to hang in there, we'll take everyone's names and put them to a vote! He doesn't like the kennel, but it's keeping him confined until his wounds heal. We would be so grateful for any help with his ongoing care! โค๏ธ

โ ๏ธ Our kitties need you! โ ๏ธ
I want to introduce Mrs. Wiggles, seen in the video below. She is a kitten born with cerebral hypoplasia, also known as Wobbly Cat Syndrome. And oh boy is she wobbly! Just watch her go!
Due to our debt to our vet (Sorry, Dr. Dean), we could really use some help getting these guys vaccinated and fixed. It's so important to us that the kittens we sent out into the world are protected from diseases and accidental babies. And our little friend who was mauled still needs ongoing care.

๐ Dorothy ๐
Dorothy came back to us today after being adopted 7 months ago. In a rash decision, which I can only guess was made to spite his family he was renting from, her dad moved to Florida and left her chained up to a tree outside.
She is extremely stressed, pacing, and wouldn't eat this morning. 7 months is a long time to think that you're home and part of a family, only to be abandoned and returned to what amounts to a prison cell.
THIS is why we don't take owner surrenders. Because they struggle so bad in a shelter. Finding them a home to go to instead makes the transition infinitely easier. Not to mention the fact that adoptions are down all over. Her brother, Rocko, has been here for 5 months with no interest.
No matter the brief amount of play time, the toys, the treats, or anything else we give them to try and make them happier, this place is not a home. And they are not happy here. It's supposed to be a temporary stop on their way to forever. But they're getting stuck here, and people treat it like a place to dump off their unwanted animals.
Please. Before you buy a dog, think about the dogs waiting in their cell for a chance at freedom. Before you leave your dog at a shelter, think about how they'll feel locked up in such a scary place without their family.
Some experts say dogs have the mental capacity of a toddler. Imagine how a 3 year old would feel in the same situation. That's how a dog feels.
Adopt. Foster. Volunteer. Donate.
Faith: The Movie
โค๏ธ Faith: The Movie โค๏ธ
Our sweet Faith completed her heartworm treatment this week, which means she is ready to start looking for her forever.
So in honor of her bright future, we wanted to show her difficult past and the long journey to make it there she is today.
Thank you to everyone who helped get her where she is now. It was a massive team effort, but it was so so worth it in the end.
Please enjoy the video and share our baby girl! We will be looking for a very special home for our very special Faith.
If you want to donate so we can continue to help animals in need like Faith, you can use one of the methods below. Donations are tax deductible.

โค๏ธ Hershey Update โค๏ธ
Hershey has put on so much weight already, thanks to some good healthy weight food! He eats three small meals a day, and he has learned his routine quickly. Of course, he fit right in with the other pups and spends most of his time playing with his new friends. He's OBSESSED with Bullet. He's turning into quite the healthy, happy little guy! We are giving him hip and joint supplements due to the old pelvis injury that never healed right. But he doesn't let it slow him down much!
Thanks for being a top follow and following our rescue page! ๐ Neal Lindley, Megan Irwin, SheriandBill Blankenship, Makayla Anderson, Jeri Helton
Every bit of interaction and sharing helps spread the message for our babies. And it increases their chance to getting adopted as more people see their cute little faces, so thanks for following along with us!
๐ผNeal, thank you for taking care of our baby girl Faith, and for helping her make miracles happen constantly. She was so lucky to have you and Shannon come into her life!
๐ผMegan, thank you for your hard work in taking care of our babies all by yourself on Sundays. It is so so appreciated, and that one day off is priceless for me. I always know they're in good hands, even though I'm not there!
P.S. Sweet Shelly is ready for adoption! She's around 25 lbs, 5 years old, HW negative, and sweet as can be! She's a little iffy with bigger dogs, but absolutely ADORES her best friend, Chester. So I think she just likes little dogs โค๏ธ
โค๏ธ Gretel - Intake: 10/31/23 โค๏ธ
Hello,
My name is Gretel. I was pulled out of a ditch with my brother last year when it was starting to get cold. I was so little then that I barely remember life before my kennel. I'm sure I don't want to remember. I know we were both really scared to be taken to a new place with new people since they haven't always been the nicest to us. These new people take care of us and feed us, so we've decided that we like them. What we really want is to find someone that will give us that forever home we hear so much about. I don't really know what it is, but it sounds really nice. Even though I like these people, I don't want to be in my kennel any more. I'm already tired of Hansel's snoring and how he hogs our toys. Having somewhere I can stretch my legs and feel safe forever is all I want. Maybe I can have that in one of these forever homes they always talk about here. I really, really hope so.
