When someone asks “why can’t I adopt a dog from you that hasn’t been spayed or neutered?”

THIS PICTURE IS WHY… and it only tells a fraction of a fraction of what we’re dealing with. There are 11 puppies in this picture. I have 13 more with foster families and have turned away 24 more in the last 7 days simply because we are BUSTING at the seams.

Bottom line…Have your dogs spayed or neutered because-

- we have puppies that the neighbor’s dog jumped the fence, dug a hole under the fence, chewed through the fence, etc.
- we have puppies because mom was “too old” or “too young”
- We have puppies because someone didn’t want to take away their dog’s “manhood”
- we have puppies because someone didn’t want to “mess with their dog’s natural instincts”

You are breeding them faster than we can save them. We will ALWAYS spay/neuter everything because if you want a mixed breed puppy we already have a ton you can adopt. If you don’t like anything we have I can put you in contact with 6 other rescues/shelters with oodles of puppies looking for homes.

This is Monica. She is with a foster family where she is working on her social skills and being a playful pup. The shelter was a little overwhelming for this sensitive, shy girl.

She is around 12 weeks old, UTD on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. As you can see she is cat friendly! If you’d like to adopt Monica please call or message us. She is not at the shelter but she is local so an appointment to meet her can easily be arranged.

Let me introduce Martha. In her opinion there is no such thing as personal space and any time spent doing anything other than loving on her is time wasted.

She was supposed to be adopted by now- we rushed her in to Southern Veterinary Clinic (as always Dr. Dean came through and worked her in) to be spayed so that she could say see ya later to the shelter BUT for reasons we don’t understand they stood her up. She’s UTD on vaccines, HW negative, spayed, and microchipped. If you’d like to adopt Martha call, message, or just stop by the shelter this week.

A huge thank you to the The Pretty Pittie Committee for always networking to find transports for not only some of our animals but animals from all over! If you don’t know Rae, let me tell you, she is a superstar! A selfless soul hidden under a smart mouthed exterior 🤣. Thank you for all you’ve done for my little rescue already in the short time we’ve known each other.

If you’re interested in a part time job at the shelter WE’RE HIRING!

Some of the major duties include:

⚫️Feed and water animals
⚫️bathe animals
⚫️Monitor animal health and behavior
⚫️Provide exercise and socialization
⚫️Administer medication and treatments
⚫️Help with examinations,vaccinations,etc
⚫️Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and runs
⚫️Maintain food and cleaning supplies
If you’d like to see what it’s like stop by one day I’d love to give you a realistic view of the job- it is very rewarding but it’s not for everyone!

Look at these sweet little cuddle bugs that we have at the shelter! They are playful until you pick them up and then they melt into you like a warm, cozy puppy blanket! They have had their first shots and wormer and will be getting S/N next week. If you’d love to foster one or adopt one please reach out to us or come by the shelter! Can anyone tell what my previous job was by their names?!?🤣🤣

Want a companion but don’t want to deal with the puppy stage? We have so many wonderful dogs that are in their mature era. Come see them, I’m willing to bet one wins your heart over.
If full ownership is too much for you right now consider a foster or even volunteering - we need both!

Elizabeth is the last baby from the hoarding situation we assisted with our friends at the city shelter.

We are still dealing with ongoing ear infections and she will have to be on ear medication probably for the rest of her life.
But that doesn’t stop her from having the best snuggles. Cutest smile and most adorable little personality ❤️

Elizabeth is about 3-4 years old . Fully vetted and heart worm negative!
About 8lbs
Does well inside, and with cats and other dogs!
She’s a real gem 💎

Due to no fault of his own Henry is back with us and on the hunt for his true forever home. He is UTD on all vaccines, neutered, microchipped and HW negative. Today is the last day of our $14 adoption fee discount and we’re open until 12:30!

It’s a beautiful Saturday, the shelter is open from 8:30-12:30 and we have 17 qualified personal trainers just dying to go on a walk with you!

This is Dakota. She is our pet of the week. She is about 15 months old, UTD on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and HW negative. She’s our longest resident and none of us can understand why. She is the right mix of super sweet but also playful. She loves taking walks around the shelter and chew toys. She hung out with her brother until he was adopted earlier this week and now she’s just hoping her turn is next! Her adoption fee has been paid by one of our wonderful volunteers, so if you’re interested in making Dakota your furry Valentine call, message or just come by the shelter tomorrow!
