Y’all… we MAY have hit the mother load this morning!!!

Our friend Dan Haas from the Algoma Ring Neck Pheasant club reached out to me recently regarding their surplus of feed from this season. Each year, they purchase several tons from Rio Creek Feed Mill, Inc. for the pheasants, but this year, they found themselves with a significant amount extra after the pheasants were released. Knowing that the grain mixture would be beneficial for our many residents, he graciously offered to donate the remaining (ALMOST TON) of feed to The Wish!!

And so, Farmer Dave and I went over this morning, and with the help of Dan and his friends, we got ‘er all bagged up and brought back home. Now comes the fun part… filling up the freezer for safe keeping!! This amount of feed will sustain us well into the winter months. We cannot be more thankful for their generosity in supporting our animals, as the cold weather arrives.

Once again, our community comes through for us in the most unexpected ways! We are beyond grateful to be surrounded by such thoughtful and generous individuals. What a great day for a great day at …

What a beautiful day for our final tour of the year! Today we welcomed our friends from Inspired Employment LLC, and what a great group to end the year with!!

The sun was shining, the animals were curious (and hungry for ‘nacks, of course!) and the smiles were aplenty. Not much more we could ask for on a crisp November morning!

We’d like to thank everyone who took the time to visit this year! We created so many wonderful memories … and we hope y’all did too!

We’re looking forward to 2026… you know we always have new and exciting plans on the horizon, and next year will be no exception!

Until then… we invite y’all to follow along the journey as we brave the winter months and the undeniable shenanigans we’re sure to encounter!

‼️UPDATE: We have confirmed not just four... but EIGHT families to help this year! For this reason, we are no longer able to accept additional requests for assistance (for this year). We hope to expand this initiative in 2026 in hopes of assisting more families in need. 🩵

Good "Frosty" Morning Everyone! We are just ONE week away from Thanksgiving, and if I'm being honest... it is my FAVORITE holiday!

With that being said, I also realize the holidays can be incredibly difficult for a lot of families. In fact, we were one of them last year... just doing what we could to make the holiday special.

For this reason, we are honored to be partnering with 3 Spring Chickens Homestead to provide a full Thanksgiving meal for four families in need in Kewaunee County. This project was inspired by our friends at Bad Luck Homestead who have been providing a Thanksgiving meal to a deserving family for several years.

If you find yourself in need this holiday season, we encourage you to reach out. We understand that can be difficult, but please know that you are surrounded by a community that wants to see your family enjoy the beauty that the holiday season holds. Alright, y'all... the moment you've been waiting for since last week has finally arrived! Our new line of handmade crochet animals from Bad Luck Homestead are now available for preorder... and YES, they are just as cute in person (if not cuter) than they are in the photos!

Now, before you get all click-happy like it's the Kohl's website at midnight on Black Friday, let's go over a few details... shall we, friends?

🧶 These are handmade-to-order items by ONE person (the talented Amanda from Bad Luck Homestead; y'all know I can't crochet!), so we are ONLY able to fulfill 20 orders by Christmas.

🎁 You will see TWO product options on the preorder form, PLEASE do not choose "Delivery by 12/25" if you do not need your item(s) in time for Christmas. You wouldn't want to deprive a child of a Lyle on Christmas morning, would you?

💰Payments will be collected at time of pick up/shipping/delivery. Please don't question this... we have always done preorders this way, so please don't make it awkward when we attempt to collect payment.

We couldn't be more thankful for Amanda's generosity in making these darling little replicas of our furry family... not only has she offered to share her talents with us, but she will also be generously donating 50% of all sales back to The Wish! Today we welcomed Girl Scout Troop 4127, and they were definitely a welcomed ray of smiles and sunshine at the sanctuary.

Watching the girls interact with and learn about the animals was a stark reminder of why we continue to wake up each day and do what we do. The air was filled with giggles, and the animals bellies filled with treats! Seeing the connections between animals and our visitors never ceases to amaze us, never ceases to bring us joy.

Although our hearts are still hurting over the loss of our Sweet Beverly, our lives have to move forward. It’s our mission… to continue to spread love, kindness and compassion. And so…

Today was what we’d consider a good day for a good day at …

Beverly Rose may not have been the most social one here at The Wish… but it was no secret that she enjoyed making an appearance at our summer events. If you’ve ever joined us… you just may have crossed paths with her as she meandered about, in search of her beloved snacks.

And just like that, she’d turn and make her way back to the house where she was most comfortable. Often times though…. Not without a glimpse back.

That’s how I envision her this morning at The Rainbow Bridge. Meandering her way home… but not without a glimpse back to say…

“Thanks for the good times, but it’s my time to go.“

Run free Sweet Beep Beep… over that beautiful Rainbow Bridge. 🌈

🌈 BEVERLY ROSE UPDATE 🌈

We would like to thank everyone who sent prayers for Beverly Rose. Unfortunately, the doctor found a large tumor in her abdomen which had also spread throughout to her kidneys and liver. So, it is with profound sadness that we share our Sweet Girl has crossed The Rainbow Bridge.

We ask for your continued prayers during this difficult time. 💔

🏥 We just arrived at Blue Pearl in Appleton with Beverly Rose. She was diagnosed with a UTI yesterday, but these last 12 hours have been rough.

Hoping they’re able to help our sweet girl … 🥺
