What goes into making our substrate blocks?
Our process starts with bagging locally sourced hardwood pellets and soy hull pellets mixed with the proper ratio of water, which are the foundation for our high-quality mushrooms. Next, we pasteurize the mixture at over 200°F for 18 hours, creating the perfect environment for robust growth.
But what truly sets us apart? We’re proud to be one of the only gourmet mushroom farms in the Lynchburg area to handle everything in-house—not only our substrate and spawn preparation, fruiting, and production of our various products, but also our own lab and genetics work. We isolate wild cultures and also develop new genetics by selectively cloning vigorous genetics and breeding stronger, more unique cultivars of mushrooms through the use of spores!
By controlling every step of the process, from the lab to the fruiting room, we ensure unparalleled quality and innovation in every mushroom we grow.
Here’s a look at how it all begins!
