Double Springs Dog Training

Double Springs Dog Training I am a young dog lover who wants to make the world better, one trained dog at a time. For outside dogs I have outside kennels on a wooden platform.

They are 10x10 and covered with a tin roof. I also have an 30 foot runner and a 20 foot tie out. Each dog will be exercised daily. For inside dogs I prefer that they are kennel trained, but will work with dogs that are not. I have 5 dogs of my own who are all up to date on their shots and monthly flea/tick/heart worm medicines.

If you have a small dog or cat, this is the way to go! I got one for Xena because I was tired of filling her water every day multiple times a day! I also like to control her food intake and didn’t want an automatic feeder. THEY HAVE PINK TOO 😍

The food bowl holds around 1 cup of feed, and the water dispenser holds close to 1/2 gallon. It’s filtered too ☺️

Hey everyone! I am currently NOT offering any training services. I do this for a side job, and I am too busy right now with my full time job and life, of course to spend enough time with your dog to make it worth our time. I do have a recommendation for a trainer in the area! Please visit https://bloodredoutfitters.com/p/bloodred-kennels for more information! The owners are Justin & Téah Breland and they are wonderful dog people. They offer obedience & game tracking training. I will update my page with any changes to my services. Thank you!

Hello! My name is Hannah and I am located in Maben, MS. I have worked with dogs for as long as I can remember and officially training for the public since 2020. I visit the Starkville area often and also Eupora area.

I consider my work to be basic obedience including (but not limited to) basic commands (sit, down, stay), recall and manners (no jumping, leash walking). My prices reflect my work and I price accordingly. I do not offer anything besides basic obedience such as protection training or service training. I do have plenty of knowledge on both of these however and can help you decide what the best course of action is that you can do.

UNFORTUNATELY I am unable to offer train & board right now. I do not have the time as my full time job is in full swing. I do offer in home sessions where I come to you, or we meet, and I spend ~60 minutes with you and your dog. Mon-Fri after 3:30 pm.

Pricing is as follows: $40 a session within 20 miles of Maben, MS and $1.50 per mile outside of that.

Example: if you live 30 miles from me, your total would be $55 (this is mainly to help with fuel prices and is flexible)

If you have any questions at all, feel free to message me. We can text or talk on the phone and I will do my absolute best to try and help you.

Thank you,
Hannah

With the sudden explosion of so called dog trainers it seems like everyone wants to be one. Most people don’t know that there’s no minimum standard a dog trainer has to meet. Literally anyone can say they’re a dog trainer and take your money while providing limited results. Like any other profession there are good trainers and bad trainers so I thought I would make some suggestions on what to look for in a trainer.

Good trainers have good training habits; here are a few signs of a good trainer.

* First and foremost is honesty with the client. They don’t make unrealistic promises. They know and abide by the laws that pertain to dogs, and expect the clients to do the same.

* They don’t repeat commands over and over. We see this a lot with new trainers that are backing away from the dog as they say “stay...stay...stay...stay...” They also don’t keep constant tension on the dogs leash to try and pull and control the dog constantly.

* They have multiple ways of training, understand how dogs learn, dog body language, dog behavior and are willing to use multiple tools to accomplish their goals. One question I almost always ask a new trainer is can you name the quadrants of operant conditioning and give an example of each? If they can’t they better go back to school!

* Speaking of school...A good trainer will continue their education and continue to evolve their training. They will have worked with hundreds of dogs just in training school alone. They will have certifications from reputable training schools and programs even though they aren’t required. I’m in no way saying that there aren’t good trainers out there that aren’t certified but don’t be afraid to ask if they are and if not, why?

* They get results! They have a high standard of training and expect a lot from the dog and the client. They aren’t afraid to raise the bar and push for better results. If you aren’t getting frustrated at some point during your dogs training, you’re likely not being pushed hard enough. They also understand that dogs are living breathing animals that will ultimately make a mistake. They also understand that as a trainer they will make a mistake, but they will recognize it and learn from it.

* Lastly they are willing to help. Not only clients and their dogs but other trainers also. I give lots of advice to younger less experienced trainers and I am more than happy to shut my pie hole and listen to those that have more experience and knowledge than me. That’s how I get better at what I do!

Hi friends! This fall season has been busy. Holidays are coming up and I’m almost completely booked! I have yet to start booking into January and I’m ready to get the waiting list filled.

If you’d like your dog to learn how to walk on a loose leash or learn a great recall, get on my list! I do in homes where I come to you, or board and trains were your dog stays with me.

09/29/2021

Hey everyone! I’m curious, if I have done an IN HOME session with you, please give feedback! I can’t improve without YOUR help! I’m willing to learn new skills to better my interaction with clients and their pups!

You can comment it, post it on my page, message me, or whatever you’d like to do. It’s very appreciated. Thank you ,

Hannah

Due to the extreme temperatures mixed with the high humidity lately, I’ve taken a break from offering board and trains. It’s just too hot to work the dogs like they need to, and they are give out after just a few minutes.

I’m still currently offering in home sessions where I come to you! These will have to be scheduled after 4:30 in the afternoon Monday-Saturday. I prefer to do everything in your home, but I’m willing to work with them at a park or outside in your yard.

Stay hydrated my friends! Keep them pups cool. Let them swim, or play in the puddle. Get out the kiddie pool or sprinkler. It’s HOT!

Hi everyone! Just a friendly reminder that every dog that comes to me MUST have all of their vaccinations up to date and be on a flea/tick prevention. The nature of my yard and having 5 dogs myself fleas can get out of hand. I spray the yard and areas the dogs visit for fleas/ticks/mosquitoes.

I work my hardest to keep bugs and disease under control.

Hey everyone! If you have inquired about training but have NOT gotten a date yet, please let me know. I’m doing my absolute best to keep up with everyone, but I’m only one person and I did not expect to get this many clients so quickly! (I’m very thankful for it though!)

As of right now, my EARLIEST available date for board and trains starts the week of August 1st. As always, IN HOME SESSIONS (where I come to you) are very flexible and available. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions. I apologize if I have not gotten back with you!

Meet Naya! Naya is an 8 month old catahoula x mastiff mix! Unfortunately when Nala was young, she had broken one of her legs and was put on kennel rest during the crucial training and socializing age.

Fear not Naya! We will get you fixed up. She is going to learn how to walk on a leash properly and a recall. We also will sharpen up her basic commands and work on introducing her to different sights and sounds without any reactivity.

BEFORE & AFTER!!

I never remember to get a before video on a dog, but I did today! These videos were taken less than 10 minutes apart!!

This is Rosie! She’s such a doll. She doesn’t have very many manners but she is so willing to please.

It’s been brought to my attention that there have been issues with another trainer located in this southern area. I just want to say a few things to make sure any of my clients or potential clients are at ease.

I normally only train 1 dog at a time. This is for several reasons.
1- I work a full time job as well as training.
2- I want to be able to spend as much time as possible focusing on the dog.
3- I know how my dogs will react to different situations. I can “read” my dogs, but not always another clients dog.
4- I have limited space. One outdoor kennel and my house is fairly small for more than one extra dog.

Safety of my clients dogs and my own dogs is my priority. I kennel inside dogs when I’m not able to supervise and all dogs are separated when I’m not watching.

Clients dogs are ALWAYS on a leash until they are excellent at their recall. When they aren’t on a leash they are still supervised closely. I made a “rule” to where I tell a client before they leave their dog that if anything happens to your dog while here I will contact you first to see if you want to come get it to take it to the vet or if you want me to take him to mine. (Based on priority as well, if it’s possibly fatal, I’ll take him and call you on the way there)

Animals are animals. We can help prevent injuries with the right care and responsibility. Unfortunately things do happen, but I will do my absolute best to prevent that! I want all of my clients to be very happy with my services.

Thank you to all of my past, current and future clients for trusting me with your pup.

Much love,

Hannah Morris

I have a lap full of little ones for a while!

Small dogs can learn too! Mr. Hank Owen (white Maltese) went from in home sessions to board and train. He will be under closer supervision and I’ll be able to make sure he has less of a chance to act “big and bad”. (little man syndrome!)

He is super sweet and loving but hasn’t quite settled in with his temporary “school” family. Some dogs take 30 minutes to adjust, others can take days. I give them time and patience, but training starts the day they come!

I sure thought I had posted about Ms. Jovi, but I guess I didn’t!

Jovi has been with DSDT for about 3 weeks now. She is learning how to walk properly on a leash, heel, and her basic commands. She also has to learn how to be gentle with her human brother whom is 3 years old.

She is super sweet and will get to visit a groomer once she’s done here 🙂

Sweet Iris is getting the hang of the obstacle course.

Iris doesn’t need much confidence building, but she does need more mental exercise. I chose to work her on the course and she was flawless!

She’s going to learn proper leash manners and how to properly ride in a vehicle while she’s with us. She’s a doll!

I’m currently booking out in May now and spots are going QUICK! Message me for more details or browse through our page.

Ace goes home today with “Obedience for Life”!

His handler, Madison, was extremely happy with what Ace accomplished in his 2 weeks at DSDT.

Ace now walks on a loose leash, comes when called and even waits at the door instead of bolting out 🤩.

It makes me super happy when my clients get to go home with a new mindset and new manners. I really love the look on handlers faces when they see how well their dog has improved.

Happy Dog, Happy Life.

At 13 weeks, she now knows sit, down, spin, shake, and rollover. She is also potty trained! I add a new command once she gets the last one down pretty good.

This is Harry and he is an Aussie Doodle! Isn’t he precious? He is going to be learning some basic obedience with the standards to become a therapy dog. How exciting!

The first few days in training make for a nervous dog, but once he settles in a feel like he’s going to be a champ!
