Attention horse owners! A friendly reminder for those that may forget or are not certain.

‼️Do not give Banamine IM (intramuscularly)‼️

This route is no longer advised due to the severe adverse effects like tissue abscess at the injection site. With any medication, it is important to be directed by your veterinarian.

Yellowstone Fans - did anyone catch how they gave the Banamine in the last episode?

💉Reminder to never give Banamine intramuscularly. ❌

It's important to know how to properly give your horse medication. If you are ever unsure please don't hesitate to contact us.

As I reflect on what this profession has opened up for me, I am so incredibly thankful. I am thankful for all my colleagues, mentors, supporters and clients. Because of that, I want to give a little something to the equine community and provide one free bodywork session.

This giveaway is for all new and existing clients. I don’t want to limit travel in Wisconsin, so depending on the winner and location of the barn, there might only be a small travel fee.

The deadline to be entered is Thanksgiving Day, November 28th! So horse friends; please like, comment and share!

Benefits of equine bodywork include:

• Decrease in muscle tension and soreness
• Improves musculoskeletal balance
• Improves range of motion
• Increase in joint mobility and support
• Provides relaxation and releases endorphins

It is important to realize that every horse can benefit from this therapy; no matter their age or discipline.

The winner will be announced December 1st! 💞💞

I hope y’all are enjoying the beautiful fall weather today because I sure am!! It’s been a great day relaxing and spending some time for myself, so here’s a picture of my afternoon view.

Also to my fellow Wisconsin trail riders, remember to be wearing your orange. It’s that time of year!!

Happy Saturday!! 🧡🧡

What is tension release in horses?

Each and every horse responds differently to the bodywork that they are receiving. Not every release is going to be loud with expression such as continuous yawning, chewing, stretching or even leaning their body and wiggling into pressure.

There are many subtle signs that can indicate a form of tension release like a droopy lip, resting of a limb, twitches of the skin, changes in breathing, or seeing soft face and eye expressions. It is my job to allow every horse to give me their feedback when it comes to a session. Not every horse has received bodywork and they may be reluctant to it or even stoic with their body language.

That is okay! That is why it’s so important to ”read the room” and communicate with them. Adjust to them. The goal is always to find those releases, but we need to understand that it may take time and patience.

Just like horses, dogs can benefit from massage therapy too! In Ringo’s case, we are looking to help reduce any stiffness and/or discomfort due to his diagnosed hip dysplasia. He has already seen an orthopedic specialist for his condition and has the best care. It’s important to note that massage will NOT cure this disease; the goal is to help alleviate potential symptoms that may arise from it to keep them comfortable for daily activities.

I am currently offering canine bodywork discounts for those interested in getting some TLC done for their pups. Feel free to reach out for more information! 💞

During my travels today, the time in between visits always has me in my thoughts. As a professional equine bodyworker and veterinary technician, I find that I am called to discuss animal welfare on a daily basis. That’s simply what I love to do and why I chose this career path. I enjoy the conversation between owners in how we can improve the lives of these animals together as a team. Because it honestly takes a team.

Between yourself as the owner, your veterinarian, your farrier, your bodyworkers (massage therapists, PEMF practitioners, chiropractors), your nutritionists, your trainers, your saddle fitters and the list may go on …. It takes a variety of resources that are essential for equine welfare.

Find those people that serve your animal with integrity and purpose; we strive to aim for the same goal. It’s also always important to remember to find the right fit for your team. This community has many amazing professionals that will advocate for your animals health. Find those people. Don’t hesitate to do your research; that’s the beauty of having a variety of resources.

It’s a passion being your animals voice.

It’s a passion being your animals advocate.

It’s a passion educating.

It’s a passion to continue to learn and grow.

And I am blessed to be a collaborator in this growing community!

💞💞

Also a disclaimer: my vehicle is currently parked as I am typing this, so there was no texting and driving that was performed during this post.

This time of year is by far my favorite. I’m excited to say we will soon be heading south to attend the week long trip at Cross County Trail Ride in Eminence, Missouri again!!

Trail horses deserve just as much attention as any other equine athlete.

So how can bodywork help our trail horses?

As it’s been known, this specific ride offers many miles of trails that range from an intermediate to difficult level. The groups I enjoy riding with have ridden 20+ miles in one day, which can call for an exhausting journey! Equine massage is an incredible way to aid in muscle recovery by freeing the body from fatigue and cramping. It also helps improve oxygen access to blood cells, which can aid in the repair of torn muscle fibers.

All of these horses attending will be working hard throughout the week to allow their riders to get from point A to point B; I pray safely. It is an honor to be able to continue to provide a skill to help alleviate any muscle soreness or tension that they may experience during this trip …. and of course, I simply can’t wait to be on horseback and take in all the scenic views with my fellow horsemen 💞

& the picture below is from last year’s trail adventure 🤩

Dune is starting his week out with massage, red light and k-tape again! How are you starting yours???

I’ve been extra busy it seems and lacking on social media posts. This summer just seems to be flying by! But I’m so thankful for how it’s been going.

Remember, it’s never too late to start your horse(s) on a bodywork program; whether they are experiencing muscle soreness from riding, stiffness from a health condition, or while they are recovering from an injury. This can help them start feeling and performing their best; no matter their age or discipline.

Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions! I’m here to help advocate for your equine partner and reach your bodywork goals with them.

This past week I was fortunate enough to be on mountain time and taking in God’s beautiful creation. It’s crazy how little you can feel in a landscape so vast; at times it just looked completely unreal and pictures just don’t do it justice.

Don’t forget to take the time for yourself to enjoy life and all of its experiences; work-related or not. Life is short. It’s such a large world out there and this view is just a portion of it!

A very important, non-bodywork related, PSA:

As this subject is always necessary and was recently brought up with a client due to an accident. Thank God, no one was severely injured.

Please, please, please SLOW DOWN (10-15 mph) when passing horses on the road. As much as any rider wants to be fully in control of their animal, you have to remember, it’s still an animal that has a flight response!!

Please be aware of your surroundings. Pay attention and use proper road etiquette!! It is also important to state; horses and carts are to also obey all traffic laws, including riding with traffic (on the correct side of the road and signal for turns).

Proper vehicle etiquette:

1. Approach slowly (again 10-15mph), waiting for on-coming traffic.
2. Give the horse and rider plenty of space (preferably two car length spaces)
3. Be patient. Do not honk your horn or rev your engine!
4. Drive away slowly after passing

If you ever are passing or meeting a frightened animal, by law you are to promptly stop the vehicle (as long you are out of the way; avoiding causing an accident or injury) and the vehicle is to be turned off until the animal is under control.

Let’s keep everyone that’s using the road, SAFE!!

Feel free to share this post to spread awareness!
