Galleta was abandoned and spent several weeks living on the streets, not knowing where his next meal or safe place would be.

After we rescued him, we gave him the care and love he needed and prepared him for adoption.

He then went into a foster-to-adopt home, where he quickly showed what an amazing boy he is.

Today, Galleta—now Milo—is thriving with his forever family. After the 3-week trial, he was officially adopted. Our hearts are so full seeing this little boy finally get the life he deserves ❤️🐾

We are beyond excited to share that Rosita is on her way to her new family! Watching one of our rescue dogs leave for their forever home is always a mix of emotions. It’s never easy to say goodbye, but moments like this remind us why we do what we do.

Yesterday I went to see Gracie, but she was sedated while the vets cleaned her wounds, so she never knew I was there. It broke my heart to leave without her seeing me.
Today I went back, and the moment she saw me, she lit up. She was so happy, and I stayed with her for a couple of hours, holding her and reminding her she’s not alone. She is fighting so hard and slowly doing better.

After 5 days in intensive care following a brutal attack, Gracie’s journey is far from over.

The vet called today and said they need to do more imaging to determine how severe the fracture in her elbow is. We know it’s broken, but we don’t yet know how bad it is.

Her wounds are very deep and will take a long time to heal. The good news is that she is no longer vomiting, and her tummy seems to be doing a little better. Today I’m going to visit her. It’s a 2-hour drive one way, but I want to see her and try to cheer her up. She still doesn’t want to eat, and she is confused, sad, and clearly in pain.

This has been absolutely heartbreaking. Gracie has been through so much, and she did not deserve any of this. She is still fighting. Her medical bills are already over $12,000 and she will need even more care.

Gracie Update 🐾

I visited Gracie yesterday. She is recovering from emergency surgery for a life-threatening stomach twist (GDV). The vets explained that extreme stress and traumansuch as panic and swallowing air can cause the stomach to flip. During surgery, her spleen had to be removed, and her severe wounds were carefully cleaned.

She is still in a lot of pain, but there has been some improvement compared to day one. This morning, the vet informed me that Gracie has started to regurgitate, so they are adding new medication. They hope to transition her antibiotics and pain meds to oral forms in the coming days, but her pain is still very intense.

The emergency surgery and spleen removal significantly increased her medical bill, and Gracie still needs a CT scan and additional treatments. The costs are overwhelming, but stopping her care is not an option.

Our hearts are broken. Yesterday was one of the most devastating days for D&A Animal Rescue.
Gracie was taken for a walk in her neighborhood—the same streets where Charlie, our paralyzed baby, is walked daily in his wheelchair. Without warning, an aggressive dog we had never seen before attacked. Gracie bravely tried to protect her foster mom and was brutally injured.

She was rushed to the emergency veterinarian in severe pain and shock. Due to the seriousness of her injuries, she was immediately referred to Texas A&M for lifesaving care. Veterinarians fear significant trauma, including a possible broken elbow and extensive soft-tissue damage.

Gracie is the gentlest, sweetest soul who only wants love. Watching her suffer has been absolutely heartbreaking.

Her care is urgent and extremely costly. We have already exceeded $8,000, and expenses continue to rise. We cannot continue this fight without help. Time is critical.

We are begging for support. Every single donation—no matter the amount—gives Gracie a chance to heal and live the life she deserves.

Gordo has been with us for almost a year. He is very laid-back and gets along well with dogs of all sizes small, medium, and large. His energy level is very low.

He is strong and may pull on the leash at times, so he will need someone comfortable handling a strong dog.

Gordo can bark occasionally if left alone, but he settles down quickly. He is very food-motivated and enjoys spending time in the yard, but he is definitely an indoor dog who prefers to be inside most of the time.
