Two of our long term medical kitties, Rio and Katniss, are wishing everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day!

🐾 Rio is a medical case due to his severe bowel troubles - while we have tried a number of things to help him, we still don’t have a definitive answer and feel he isn’t quite ready for adoption.

🐾 Katniss is not adoptable yet due to her nasal passage getting obstructed with polyps. While she has already undergone surgery to remove some huge ones, we are hoping one more removal will do the trick!

Simone update ❤️

While we were just a small chapter in Simone’s life story, we are so enlightened to share that happy endings do exist 🥹❤️

July of 2022, Simone was brought to a shelter in Florida after being abandoned by her owners. She spent 8 months there. In March of 2023 she was pulled from that shelter, and we assume transferred to another rescue. We aren’t quite sure when Simone was sent north to Maine, but she did not get the freedom ride she deserved. Simone became a victim of Coastal Dreams Rescue. While we do not like to dwell on the past, we will be forever grateful for everyone who helped all of the dogs and gave them their happy endings. Simone has been living the good life as a house hippo for a few months now, we were just blown away at this recent photo and wanted to share her story again. ❤️

If you guys did not know, Bucksport Animal Shelter, still has the most deserving senior German Shepherd from the Coastal Dreams seizure. That guy needs a happy ending too!

For those who haven’t been following along, SlimJim came to us last spring weighing only 4.6lbs - he is FIV+ and estimated to be over 12 years old. After so many struggles (and many times thinking his time was up), he is thriving and weighing over 10lbs!

Adoption fees are waived for these 3 long term residents ❤️

Malfoy - (ADOPTED) 9ish months old. Malfoy is a very sweet, funny guy! He does hide when people come to visit so meeting new people is hard for him. However, he warms up quickly!

Saffron - gray tabby, female, 9ish months old. Saffron is pure hearted, quiet girl. She is gentle and sweet. Saffron has a chronic cold that flares up occasionally, typically meds are not needed during these flare ups. Keeping her on an immune supplement (lysine) and providing a stress free environment will help.

Jane - (ADOPTED) gray, female, also around 9 months old. Jane is all around a lovely lady. She is personable and very funny. She is the cat that likes to runaway with things in her mouth and push things off the counter. She also is BFF’s with Saffron.

At only 8 months old, Tucker is a wonderful pup! Tucker bonds strongly with his person and wants nothing more than to be by their side.

Tucker loves to play and snuggle with other dogs, cats and kids! However, he has a history of becoming food aggressive towards smaller dogs. Tucker is sharing a foster home with 4 other dogs that are larger than him, and so far, has not shown any signs of resource guarding and can beg beside the other dogs as well. But we do want to always use caution given his history.

Tucker is a snuggly, sweet, gentle soul. He is crate trained and potty trained (with an occasional accident). He can be nervous meeting new people but quickly warms up.

Tucker is an 8 month old, Cocker Spaniel. He is as sweet as he looks! While we are still getting to know this guy, we will be searching for his perfect home soon.

While Tucker is great socially with other dogs, he is food aggressive towards them. He cannot be around dogs while there is an inkling that he may be able to snag a bite to eat. Tucker is also great with cats and kids. He can be shy in the beginning, but warms up quickly and will melt anyone’s heart.

This guy was brought to us from the Back Searsport Road in Searsport. He is a neutered male. Please reach out if you know who he belongs to - he is a lovely guy, who I am sure is missing his family.

UPDATE: We have gotten so many great applications that we need to go over, so he is pending now!

Buddy is one special guy who is looking for the most perfect home.

Buddy is an almost 9 year old, Golden Retriever. But don’t let that fool you, he is a very happy, energetic guy with a lot of pep in his step! Buddy’s life changes are a sad story, but we are hoping to find a home that can recreate the best parts of his upbringing.

We are looking for a quiet environment where Buddy could thrive as the only dog in the home and really bond with his person. He does seem fine with cats. Buddy does not like to be crated nor does he like to be closed behind doors. He likes to go out many times throughout the day, so having a fenced in yard would be a bonus!

He is in great health and has been going to the same vet regularly his whole life. Please help us find THE perfect home to let this man settle for the rest of his joyous life.

We are SO baffled why it’s been so hard to find this girl the PERFECT home. Please read her bio carefully if you are interested.

Sookie is probably close to 2 years old, and is right around 35lbs. She is a super fun, loving dog. She rides great in the car, she is house trained, she walks good on a leash, she is crate trained. Yes, she will also try to jump on your counter, and will lick a stranger to death. She really loves to curl up in your lap and snuggle. She has the most precious personality.

Sookie really loves to play and rough house with other dogs. BUT she will react with high value toys with other dogs. She does not care if her pal has the same toy, she will get it and be assertive about it. This does not mean she is “aggressive”. This means keep the high value items to a minimum, or not at all.

Sookie also really, I mean really loves cats. But cats often do not appreciate her antics. So no cats, or cats that can stand up to her are a must.

We really want this girl in a perfect home that will love her fully. She deserves it!

A huge thank you to Maine Pet & Aquarium for their wonderful donations and all who gave to their Giving Tree this Christmas for many of the shelters in the area 😻 Millie was first in line to pick out what she wanted. She is also STILL looking for her forever home ❤️
