Hunters Chapel Taxidermy Established 2023 I’m just starting my own business 18 miles South of Malvern, AR. I’ve been studying taxidermy under Ron Putt Russell since December of 2022.

I’m also a licensed math teacher who taught college and high school mathematics in Mississippi and Arkansas.

Hello!
As you know, I just opened my taxidermy shop last fall. My mentor and teacher, Putt Russell, taught me many things, and I am grateful beyond words. However, preserving the natural beauty and details of your amazing animals as a new artist/taxidermist is quite time consuming and complicated. Maybe one day, I’ll be comfortable enough to post videos, but for now I’d like to introduce you to my favorite page, Amy’s Animal Art Taxidermy.
Amy began taxidermy at a very young age, as a self-taught hobby. I will be sharing many of her videos, and I hope they intrigue you as much as they do me.

For those bringing in bucks for shoulder mounts, this is the best way to tie the bag.
Wrap the bag over the everything including the ears and muzzle and tie between the antlers.

Hello, fellow hunters!
Just a reminder…
How to cape a deer for a shoulder mount:
*If you field dress it, stop at least 6” short of the front legs.
Follow steps 1,2, & 3.
Next, separate the hide from the buck up the neck.
Cut off the head.
Use a heavy bag to help preserve the hide.
Tie the bag around the base of the antlers.
Freeze or refrigerate.
Get it to a taxidermist.

For a shoulder mount or a European skull mount, this is how they should look. Bagged up to the horns and kept refrigerated or frozen.

LOOK!!!👀👀👀
For a limited time:
If you kill a big bodied deer, and you’re only looking for a European skull mount, I will trade you the cape for a European skull mount.
text me a picture first, to let me know you’re going to do it. I will make sure I it is what I consider to be a big body.

To cape a Whitetail deer :
It’s easiest if you have him hanging by his feet.
Make a circular cut all the way around his torso about half way between the front and back legs.
Then make circular cuts around the front legs about 4 inches down from the body.
Make a cut from under the skin starting at the leg.
Follow the line where the brown and white hair meets and cut all the way to your abdomen cut. Repeat on the other side. These are the only cuts that should be in the hide. Now, skin the hide all the way up the neck and cut off the head. I will do the rest! Be sure to put it in a heavy plastic bag or double bag if the bags are thin.
Freeze it or get it to me ASAP.
It is OK if it has one bullet hole, but the hide should not be damaged more than that.
My instructions are basically like this picture, only I want the cuts to be further back to give me more Cape to work with.
Thank you!

Yesterday, a great friend and I installed the first interior wall! Thank you, Amanda Pennington, for loaning me your carpenter!!! He once told me, “Steven is the brawn, you are the brains, so I guess that makes me the beauty!” LOL! However, he gets a promotion every weekday. I’m pretty sure Steven goes to work just to get some rest! 🤣🤗🥰

Good morning!
I’d like to re-introduce myself since I have gained many new followers since my original post.
My name is Brenda Howell.
I am originally from the Glen Rose, Arkansas area, Gifford to be more specific. My husband, Steven Howell, is from Sheridan, Arkansas. We own Pops’s Place, the beer store on Highway 9 in Dallas County, Arkansas. We met Putt Russell last deer season when he did some work for us. His work is better than any we’ve ever seen, and I am very blessed to have studied under him for the past year.
My taxidermy shop is located at
20 Dallas 330, Leola Arkansas, 72084.
It is on the property behind Pop’s Place.
You can call or text me @
870-941-0888.
A typical shoulder mounted Whitetail deer is $500.
A basic European skull mount is $75.
Half of the money is due upfront.
Cash, please.
I look forward to meeting you and exceeding your expectations!
