I was recently contacted and later spoke to a local resident about a stray dog that had been at their home off and on for the last month. The resident tried multiple times to lure this dog to safety without success. With the freezing temperatures the resident feared he would freeze. So I spoke to the resident and came out to set the trap. Upon arrival the dog was in their yard. I attempted an off leash recovery but with the blowing snow and wind that would have taken to long. So I set the trap right next to my vehicle stood 5 foot away and he quickly entered for a warm meal. Huge thank you to the resident that kept a watchful eye on him and food out for him. This made it easier for him to trust the trap. He is now warm, fed and safe. He will be transported to Antrim County Animal Control, they will scan for a microchip and hold him in hopes his family is searching for him.

Let's help Finn find the perfect home for Christmas. He's a very sweet big guy that spent more than a month on the run before I was able to safely trap him. From Stephanie at Animal Control: He is a clinger…. HATES being outside wants to be with people. Seems excellent with dogs. Still wouldn’t trust him with cats! POTTY TRAINED!!! Never had an accident yet in his kennel.

From Kalkaska Animal Control/Shelter we have not had one person show interest in Finn😢. If you are interested please leave a message (231)258-3309, I will be sure to return the call as soon as possible. Dog adoption fee is $50. He will be shortly updated on all medical.

11/28/2024 9:30am-He has been taken to Kalkaska County Animal Control. His ears are red and swollen, skin issues and ticks. Scanned for microchip, none found,no collar, and no owner reported him missing. He is a very sweet big boy who melts into your lap. We are calling him "Finn" unless an owner comes forward.

11/27/2024 11:11pm he has been safely trapped. He will decompress with me in a warm house tonight before being transported to Kalkaska Animal Control/Shelter.

This dog has been seen for at least a month. Original sighting Mancelona Rd, Cinderhill, Merrimac in Antrim County then settled in Wheeler Lake Rd Westwood Rd, Plum Valley Rd, Twin Lake Rd and 131.
I am assisting Kalkaska County Animal Control to bring this big guy in safely before its gets much colder.

10/31/24 10am- Daphne has been safely contained after 9 long days. Huge thank you to the neighbor that spotted her and acted quickly to contain her. Huge thank you to everyone that called in sighting's and the property owner's that granted us permission to set up equipment. Huge thank you to Crawford County Animal Control - Grayling, Michigan and Roscommon County Animal Control for all their help with Daphne🙏🐾🩷

Zoey escaped her new owner on 10/14/24, shortly after arriving to her new home. Zoey was hit by a vehicle on M88 shortly after escaping. I went out late Tuesday evening during the rain and set a food station for Zoey, when I returned Wednesday morning at daylight she had found the food station. She popped out while I was there and immediately began engaging my "magnet dog" Maverick. After a couple attempts to lure Zoey to safety using Maverick, it was decided due to the high traffic in the area it was best to deploy the trap. The trap was set Wednesday afternoon and Zoey immediately began to investigate, but was reluctant to fully commit to the trap. I returned to the trap after dark with k9 tracker Maverick and Dexter and Zoey immediately popped out again. Though still to scared to fully commit to an off leash recovery. I filled the trap with smelly meat and patiently waited.

Zoey was safely trapped at 6:49am Thursday morning and will be reunited with her new owner after a few hours if decompressing with Maverick and Dexter.

Merle went missing whole hunting after his GPS tracking collar lost communication. His owner set trail camera's and food stations. Once Merle was seen at a food station his owner immediately reached out for trapping assistance. I immediately deployed the missy trap and left at 7:00pm. Merle appeared at the trap at 11:43pm and walked safely in to the trap at 12:04am after more than a week on the run.

7/24/2024 4:00pm-This dogs original owner has been found. Bo was rehomed by his Dad in May 2024 he is 4 years old and was an indoor. We are not sure how he was lost or where he was lost from. His previous owner will be following up with Kalkaska County Animal Shelter on Saturday. At this time, Bo will be surrendered to Kalkaska Animal Control by his previous owner.

The Kalkaska County stray Great Pyrenees has been safely contained and transported to Kalkaska Animal Control/Shelter after more than 2 months on the run.

Do you know the owner of this dog? It appears to be a Great Pyrenees. This dog has shown up on security cameras on Smith Rd/Plum Valley Rd area over the last 4 nights.

🐾5/2/2024🐾 Slow and steady progress with Lulu. She found one of the food stations this morning but was spooked before having a chance to eat.

Lulu escaped her yard while her fence collar wasn't on, 4/28/2024 2:30pm. Lulu is in k9 survival mode and will not come when called to, instead she goes further away. Most current sighting area is Island Lake Rd/Trail 55/Smith Lake Rd.

7 Mile Rd/4 Mile Rd/Oak Rd/I 75/S Grayling Rd

"Gypsy"

Gypsy white/red pit mix wearing a harness that has been running from I75/4 Mile Rd to 7 Mile/S Grayling Rd since she was first seen 12/14/23 laying on the highway near mile marker 206. Crawford County Animal Control - Grayling, Michigan and Moore's Lost K9 Search and Recovery have spent countless days/miles set traps/moving camera's and talking with property owner's. Tonight Gypsy engaged in her normal playtime with a local dog's(Buddy and Ned)when the property owner's daughter Jenna was able to quickly close her in their horse pasture. After a little work and lots of treats Gypsy has been safely contained and us in route to the animal control.

Huge thank you to Kari/Animal Control for always going above and beyond for lost dog's. Thank you to all the property owners that allowed us to come in to their property and set-up. Without the entire community support Gypsy would still be on the run.
