SO PROUD OF MY BOY!!

He has earned what to do with me during my emotional times, especially very down times. He has been a literal life saver.

But I noticed he expands that to his “extended” family. That is: anyone who is a friend of mine, is part of the family to him! Of course, the more they know him, the more ‘tuned-in’ he gets to them. So if someone in our ‘family’ needs a furry shoulder to cry on, but didn’t realize it yet, he will just work his way into their lap so they put their arms around him….. and feel whatever was so heavy, get lighter.

Gidheon has a new (human) friend! My new neighbor, Devon, who works at a vet clinic, heard I was going in for surgery yesterday and offered to help potty and walk Gidheon! So sweet of her! So Gidheon can spend his time, with the cats, just helping me recover ❤️💜😁

This is Gidheon. I haven't posted about him on here in quite a while!

I was making a list of the Tricks he knows, and I thought I'd share that with you.

Besides being a GREAT Service Dog for me, he also knows: Wave 'hi' (and 'bye', Sit Pretty, Stand on hind legs, Weave my legs (both at a standstill and while I'm walking), Spin, Spin the Other Way, "Bang"-You're Dead, Creep (army crawl), Lift a Hind Leg (looks like he's urinating but he's not), Get in the Box, Pull the Box (with his mouth on a rope), On, Off, Front Legs on Raised Platform, Hind Legs on Raised Platform, Feet up, Say Your Prayers, Weave Poles, Walk a Narrow Plank, Teeter-Totter, Go Through the Tunnel, Jump a Jump (from low height up to over one meter high), Go Over Tall 'A'-Frame Jump, Go Around (like a tree or a wall) and Return to Me, Turn on the Light, Push Button to Open Automatic Door, Open the Door (regular door with a handle, not a doorknob), Back Up, Heel on my Left, Heel on my Right, 'Heel' Between My Legs, Bark on Command, Stop Barking on Command, Bite on Command, Come, Go, Return to Heel on my Left, Return to Heel going Around My Back, Switch Sides (going behind me) Left to Right, Switch Sides (going behind me) Right to Left, Roll Over, Sit, Down, Stand, Shake (his paw), Shake Your Body ("Shimmy"), Head Down (when in a down), Head Up (don't sniff the ground), Recall to a Sit in Front of Me, Recall going between my Legs then Turn and Stop Between My Legs, Stay (in a Sit, Down or Stand), Open the Garbage Can Lid, Close the Garbage Can Lid, Put Your Toys Away (in the 'toy' box), Retrieve, Howl Like a Wolf, Hang on Tight (Tug-of-war), Drop/Aus (let go of what's in your mouth).

I'm sure there are several more that I'll think of later! He also will find certain hidden objects (in Barn Hunt it is a rat, in Nosework it is Specified Scents, in Action Dog it is my Keys, Remote Control, Phone, Wallet and Glasses, in SAR it is a Person). He can also pull heavy weights (Weight Pull). He can also DIVE into water (on Command).

Gidheon got his first leg in Open in Barnhunt last weekend! I was distracted and anxious on our previous tries, otherwr we would have gotten more "legs". But I was REALLY proud of him. And on this run, he even got the blue ribbon!
