So many people have seen us out and admired how gorgeous and well tempered our Dobby is. We kept him from our first liter because our son just instantly was attached! Well we were blessed with two boys from our second liter that look almost identical him now at 4 weeks old. Picture of the three, our Dobby is in the middle, other photo is our 6 month handsome man.

I want to start this post by prefacing that I/we are not experts. I don’t know every single thing there is to no about the French bulldog breed, nor do I know all the ins and outs of breeding yet either.

What I do know is there has been a large miss handling of the french bulldog breed over the years and even more so right now. Before starting my research into breeding I also was in the rescue world for many years, and am not ignorant to the amount of dogs in shelters or mistreatment of them. That being said I am also not ignorant to the fact that people sometimes want a specific breed of dog. And there is NOTHING wrong with that!!!

So now your probably wondering what is she babbling on about for… well This is all stemming from several interactions I’ve had recently both in person and online with people calling us backyard breeders or attacking us in general for breeding period.

So again I do not know everything, and I will never claim to! I probably have just started to hit the tip of the iceberg in my research. I DO however know how much research, dna testing, LOVE, sweat, AND tears went into our first litter. While we don’t show our dogs, we did do our due diligence to be a responsible breeder, and our parent dogs are not purely there for breeding. They weren’t kept in cages or neglected. They sleep in bed with us and are spoiled rotten. So to be called a backyard breeder is extremely disheartening. Or maybe I just have a very different idea/definition of what that is.

Anyway, I follow the woman this article below is written about and like her I do hope that our breeding and our research etc will help get this breed in the right direction. I personally think our beautiful momma and handsome dad posses a lot of the traits this woman talks about in breeding for better health. They don’t have the super depressed snouts and instead a more define muzzle, they have a taller, longer, leaner body build, and the most amazing temperaments an owner could ask for. And I believe our puppies reflect that. I just hope all our families love our puppies as much as we do 🩷 thanks for listening to my Ted talk 😭🤣
