Friends of Forgotten Felines will be hosting a lunch fundraiser Wednesday, Feb 5th from 11am-2pm at the VFW post #5108, located on Pike Street in Marietta. Please share! Drop in for a meal or pick it up to go! All proceeds will go directly to help support our colony of fairground cats, and our low cost spay and neuter program! We hope to see you there!

We are now recruiting obese, but otherwise healthy adult cats to participate in the Feline SLIM Study. This is a clinical trial, funded by the Morris Animal Foundation, evaluating the role of f***l microbiota transplants (“poop pills) along with diet to help cats lose weight. Pictured here is one of our current patients, Eugene. His motto for 2025 is “New year, new me!”. Eugene is making great strides with his weight loss, and we are so proud of him.

I’ve been asked a lot recently if I’m still working in this wild winter weather…

So far this week has consisted of some of the usual PLUS hiking up snowy/icy streets to reach my clients, running & dripping faucets to avoid freezing pipes, checking thermostats, bundling up dogs for quick potty breaks, shoveling snow off grass for said potty breaks, snuggling and playing with cats, and a last minute meet and greet with a new client. How is it only Wednesday?!

While I do understand dogs still need their walks, please know walks will be shortened or canceled when it is THIS COLD 🥶 If your dog has booties or a coat please supply them, and if I notice any lifting of the paws walks will be immediately cut short.

🤍Your pet’s safety is always my #1 concern🤍

Winter walks can be turned into drop in visits, quick walks, or let outs to go potty followed by inside play/enrichment/snuggles.

I will text everyone with enough notice if I feel walks need to be canceled or turned into drop ins.

Long haired and thick coated dog breeds are bred for colder climates, and are more tolerant of cold weather; BUT no pet should be left outside for long periods in below-freezing weather.

☃️Snow Day photo dump☃️ All dog walks are canceled today! The silver lining of being under a level 3 snow emergency is all my human clients are home with the doggies. Nobody will be lonely or waiting for their walks.

I see a wide spectrum of personalities in the dogs I care for…today I imagine:
❄️there will be a few (definitely my husky pal) with the zoomies refusing to go back inside
❄️some making it a quick trip out for business only
❄️ and I know a couple that will absolutely refuse to step paw outside (good luck😅)

What a neat community project! I would love to see a collaboration between Marietta City Schools and Humane Society of the Ohio Valley - HSOV.

Help our students help shelter dogs! SGS Saplings (3rd and 4th graders) have been working on a community service project to help our local shelter dogs find forever homes and they need your participation! After visiting The Athens County Dog Shelter, just down the road from Solid Ground School, the children wanted to help the dogs!

We partnered with the Friends of the Shelter Dogs to help get some of their harder-to-place dogs adopted. The children have written persuasive letters from the point of view of real, individual dogs, sharing their story and asking for people to adopt them. Along with their written appeals, the children created unique art portraits of each pet. We'll be sharing their 12 profiles of each dog over the next several days!

These portraits and letters features the voices of real shelter dogs up for adoption in Athens County, Ohio! Friday is my day to feed the kitties at the fairgrounds for Friends Of Forgotten Felines. They were hungry and waiting for breakfast this rainy morning! If any clients want me to pick up and deliver their donation I’d be more than happy to do so. 🐈‍⬛🐈🐈‍⬛

🍂🍁 Fall Food Drive 🍁🍂

FFF is in need of food donations to get our colony through the Winter. The cats are fed twice daily, we feed the cats Purina Complete dry (blue bag) and Friskies canned food.

Donations of food can be dropped off to Thomson's Landscaping, The Cook's Shop, or McKenna's Market. Food can also be purchased and shipped directly to us from Chewy by ordering from our wishlist below. We thank everyone who supports Friends of Forgotten Felines and our fairground colony!
