To be the voice for domestic rabbits by providing education, resources, shelter, and homes. A rabbit savvy vet is essential in the care of your rabbit.
(2)
The dedication and passion of one person has grown into a team with a mission as follows:
To be a voice for domestic rabbits by providing education, resources, shelter, and homes where they will thrive. A Note From the President:
I want to help share the love and education of bunnies by being the voice for my late Oscar Henry McPickles. Although I have put together a lot of information and will c
ontinue to provide education and resources, I am not a vet. I am not a vet. Oscar came into my life completely unexpectedly after being found outside in rough shape. At the time I knew absolutely nothing about rabbits. I learned quickly, but unfortunately lost him 4 months later to what I can only assume to have been GI stasis (will never know for sure). Since that time, I research/learn daily about rabbit care and needs as they are delicate animals with much to know that many are unaware of. Although I knew a lot, I did not know enough, and feel it may have led to overlooking signs/symptoms that my boy was in trouble, likely giving him veggies that could have caused the issue, etc. (amongst other complications and learning lessons, including where to vet a rabbit). Since that time, I continue to learn and put in the time to do the best I can for every bun that comes into my life. Each one finds a place in my heart, and I hope to do best for them, first medically, and then by placing into homes that we screen and hope to be best for each bun’s unique personality & situation. To honor Oscar, I want his voice heard through spreading the love of rabbits (buns) and through education. This area is misunderstood and help for rabbits is lacking in Wisconsin.

FOSTER HOMES NEEDED
Imagine confining your living space so small, you’d be limited to 3-4 steps. Even if for only half a day, that sounds miserable, right? That’s exactly how rabbits who live in enclosures like this feel. Rabbits are active by nature and they need enough space to run, jump, periscope, and play. And binky! A single bun should have a 4’ x 6” enclosure, in addition to supervised free roam time. So if this is your idea of rabbit housing, please be sure your rabbit is a stuffed toy. Because that’s the only rabbit who would comfortably exist in this cage.
Foster homes provide increased socialization, attention, and room to run.
Nibs here can tell you how fun he’s having with a big room of his own in a foster home!
Fosters need to live within 1 hour of Marshfield and be willing to travel for adoptions and medical care as needed. Adoptions take place in Marshfield or in the foster home pending on the situation.
Join us today! Fostering saves lives.

Spay day for Miss Harlow!
We have been receiving calls about heatstroke and rabbits are dying in heat and storms.
Wild rabbits and domestic rabbits are not related. They cannot live in the same conditions.
Please be mindful that heat (temps >77 F), getting wet (hypothermia), and storms (fear) kill rabbits regularly.
Babies need to be kept warm, but outside in the heat they can easily overheat.
Oliver is ready for Summer with his cool dude haircut!
This cutie has been waiting patiently for a forever home for 135 days. He’s an absolute gem that is waiting for the perfect person to take him on.
Oliver is super sweet and neutered. He sits so well through his grooming.

We were recently asked why domestic rabbits often get sick if they get wet, while cottontails seem to handle rain without any problems.
Here's the scoop!
Domestic rabbits and wild cottontails are actually completely separate species, each adapted to their own environments. While wild bunnies do seek shelter during rain, they also have an easier time drying off due to their lighter coats and body composition.
Domestic rabbits, on the other hand, have thicker coats and a lesser ability to regulate their body temperatures. When they get wet, they can’t dry themselves off as efficiently. This can lead to hypothermia and can even put them into shock.
So, while cottontails are built to handle a bit of rain, our fluffy domestic friends need to stay warm and dry.
Domesticated bunnies should not get wet.
This has been a PSA from Bouncy (pictured), who always looks slightly nervous to answer questions, but did a great job!
Oliver is in need of a haircut and still longing for his forever family. Can you help us help him?
Oliver is a sweet boy. He sits very well during grooming and haircuts. He needs more frequent grooming because of his angora wool fur that continually grows.
Oliver is approximately 5-6 years old. He is sweet, cuddly, and likes to play.
Oliver is neutered.

Our beautiful red eyed Jax, now known as Herbie, was adopted over the weekend. His mom has been patiently waiting for him and is being excited. So happy that these 2 found each other!

Gibbs is starting saline nebs. At first he wasn’t sure about it, but then he seemed to somewhat enjoy it. He was a good boy cleaning his eyes during it even! Gibbs loved a lifetime of neglect. He had significant eye drainage that was ignored for a very long time. The vet flushed out mucus plugs that did not appear infectious. We’ve been giving meloxicam for swelling. So far, nothing has helped so now we are trying saline nebs twice daily. His front teeth are not in great shape from years of a bad diet. There was nothing urgent visualized but these will need to be looked at better when Gibbs is sedated for neuter. His ears were full of wax due to being unable to clean them himself because his nails were so long. His ears are looking better with frequent cleaning. Right now it feels like we have quite a ways to go yet to help Gibbs get better. Hopefully he recovers well like the vet thinks he will. TBD. #oscarsrabbitrescue

This is what a real, forever home looks like. ORR alumni, Wispa, was with us for 8 months after already living her entire life in other rescues/shelters. Although her foster family adored her and helped her tremendously, she didn’t like to be pet until she found her forever. Since adoption she has enjoyed and asked for pets and has done her first flops! These happy endings make everything we do so worth it! #oscarsrabbitrescue #ORRalumni
Kali LOVES her new ball…at all hours of the day 🤣 Don’t mind her mess she made in less than 8 hrs. Crazy girl #oscarsrabbitrescue
When you are determined to get a treat… Wispa is also determined to find her forever family. She’s been searching her whole life, and her recent birthday wish has not yet come true.
