I am emBARKing on a new adventure!
I am getting married in a month and moving, not the new adventure I’ll be talking about, but it does have a factor playing in my decisions.
I am only going to be keeping two female basset hounds at high percent of European lines (they are 1/2 sisters!) along with my two high percent euro males. I do not plan to take on anymore basset hounds for a while. It has cost me A LOT of $ the last few years building up to the bloodlines I have and with that, it’s still costing me a lot between the vet, food, upkeep.. I do not make a dime. In fact, I am severely in the negative when it comes to income vs. expenses on my dogs. That is why I am still working a day job, to support the hound obsession.
With that, I know I cannot give up my love for these darn bassets but I fell in love with another breed.. that will be revealed at the end.
Bloodhounds will still be in the mix (they’re my dads, I help him with the technology side, appointments, shipping etc.) but since I will be moving, I will not be able to be as hands on as I’d like with the bloodhounds. He is 63 with 3 back surgeries so it is in everyone’s best interest to only have a few litters a year with bloodhounds as well.
I will be posting one, maybe two adult bloodhounds that will be looking for 🏡. They are AKC registered.
With all of this, I have decided to step into the mini dachshund world. I am excited to see what this adventure brings! Maya will be a mama THE WEEK OF MY WEDDING😅
I will be 💯 real with yall. Breeding isn’t for the week. You’ll go to the ends of this earth for your dogs. It costs a lot to get going and even more keeping them up. My fiance farms, they’re the backbone of this country but yet don’t get hardly 💩 in return. So we decided to get a small breed that we love and still keep our program small, manageable but hopefully cut some overhead cost out. Because those bassets, they LOVE their food and I think I spend more money
