Shez EZ To Spot
Regional Champion Medium Mares

Thank you Joanie Sledge & Di Swint for giving me the opportunity to break, train & show Sweet Annie! She has really come a Long way this summer. I’m so proud of how relaxed she was at our last show! First show under saddle…she didn’t win but did her job the best she could! I couldn’t be happier with her progress!

30 DAYS IS NOT ENOUGH! 60 DAYS IS NOT ENOUGH! A well rounded, well trained horse takes years to develop and they are worth the investment. Good training isn't quick. Good trainers aren't cheap. When you take an un-started horse to a trainer, 30 days is not enough. The bare minimum should be 90 days. Longer is better. Yes, it costs money. Horses cost money and there is no way around it. Make sure you choose a trainer who is honest about this and isn't just trying to keep your horse longer for the money. Sit in on sessions once your horse is in training and ask questions. 30 days is not enough for the majority of horse owners to step in and continue with the success of the horse. You’re setting the horse up for failure. If you’ve taken the horse out of training too soon, not only will it affect the horse but you're also setting blame for the “bad trainer” that didn't get your horse broke and kid safe in 30 days.
In most cases, what your horse and trainer can do together after 30, 60 and 90 days are not what you and your horse can do together. This means you need to be engaged in the process with your horse, in lessons and seeking to learn yourself if you want to recreate the education your horse is receiving.
The expectation of a 90 day horse is that they now have a solid foundation of the BASICS. What those basics are will vary from horse to horse, age and trainer, but understand that you do not have a finished horse by any stretch of the imagination... and you don't usually have a beginner safe horse. Having the expectation that this is possible, is unfair to the horse. Remember, your horse won't necessarily retain ALL of what they have learned when they go back home unless you continue to work with your horse consistently and with a similar set of skills. Set realistic goals and put the time in that your horse needs and deserves, it's worth the investment!

Absolutely!

Respect is non-transferable. Just because I have earned a horse's respect does not mean that I can hand him over to you and he will respect you the same way. Each person is responsible for gaining each horse's respect. - Clinton

🐎Definitely an Eye Opener!🐎

Hay eating livestock owning friends, be prepared!!

Reality..........
Winter is still here, everyone is still feeding hay. Soon grass will grow and everyone will be happy to have grazing.

As we all enjoy this summer keep one thing in mind..........
2022 hay prices

⭐️Fuel is still rising
⭐️Fertilizer costs are up 70%
⭐️And more than 25% of hay producers have sold equipment and let land go to CRP.
⭐️Your small squares that are $4-$9 currently will be $10-$18 this year.
⭐️Your $45-$60 round bales will $70-$100+
If you already live in an area where hay is $12-$20+ for small squares be ready for $25-$40 a bale prices

Ladies and gentlemen if your not financially ready for this or you don't have room to store a full Winters worth of hay you need to begin planning now if you want to have feed for your livestock next winter.

I personally know of 3 hay suppliers who have already sold all their 2022 crop and I know of 2 that are done, fertilizer costs caused bankruptcy.

Plan ahead even if that means deciding what livestock to sell this summer!

👩🏼‍🌾 🐴 Select your trainers carefully. Observe how the horses interact with them.

Watch how the most decorated horse in the barn is treated. Watch how the least quality horse in the barn is treated.
(because EVERY horse deserves to think it’s a champ at the end of the day)

Look at the workouts, attitudes and relationships between the trainer and their strongest riders. Look at the workouts, attitudes & relationship between the trainer and their most limited riders.

How do they treat their team members? Does their staff like them? Are the other clients happy? What dreams is your trainer chasing?

Choose a trainer that lives the values that matter to you. Choose wisely, and trust the process.

Not every horse will be a grand champion. Not every lesson horse will be a walk in the park. Not every rider will win the roses. Not every ride will be easy. Not every prospect will work out. The challenges ahead are inevitable.

Spend your time and money to be with a team that you believe in, a team that has your best interest at heart and is honest with you as they help you and/or your horse stride towards greatness- whatever it is you define as such.

Select your trainers carefully- and give it your best shot. Greatness isn’t common; but it certainly doesn’t occur unless the trainers, clients and horses are all giving it their best shot.

Come Find Me In The Barn!

I'll be in the barn.

When people have come to visit over the years they commonly hear from me I'll be in the barn.

When life gets hard I'll be in the barn.
When things are just right I'll be in the barn.

When the sun shines
The rain falls
Or snow covers the ground
I'll be in the barn.

If things seem to be falling apart or if I'm celebrating the simple things, I'll be in the barn.

When I'm looking for answers or trying to clear my mind, I'll be in the barn.

When I'm looking for myself, I'll be in the barn.

If I'm working or trying to relax, I'll be in the barn.

Even when I'm not in the barn my mind drifts there, I find myself thinking about being in the barn.....

soaking feed for the next day,
mucking or spreading manure,
how to fix a problem I've been having with horse,
tack that needs cleaned or changed or mended,
wounds that need doctored,
if I need to put on blankets or take them off.

It's where I keep my riches
All my wins and my failures
Everyone of my hopes
Dreams
Hardships
And memories

You can find them all in the barn, buried in the hay, hiding under a saddle, spilling out of the feed bins, or glimmering with dust in the evening light.

I may be covered in dust, dirt, mash feed, hair, and hay, smell of sweat and manure, and sometimes there may be blood or tears but I'll be there. I'll be in the barn.

So if your wondering where to find me, I'll be in the barn. If I'm not there I promise I'm on my way.

East World didn’t disappoint! I didn’t bring a pony this time around but the kids did 🐴🐴.
🐴 Tyler tried a new pony & found a great connection; winning Reserve Champion Equitation 10-13 Boy and was Over Reserve Champion 10-13 Boy.
🐴 Hailey didn’t show in many classes but has a few accomplishments; trying games this year with her pony has been a challenge but she’s enjoying time with him & had some phenomenal HUS & WP classes placing in the top 10 in both with an extremely competitive group of 10-13 Girls!
