Some commonly asked questions about our program:
The three-year lease
The horses donated to our program are often appraised for a significant value based on comparisons within the industry. We lease those horses on a three-year basis to stay in compliance with the non-cash charitable donation requirements of the IRS, so our donors receive the maximum amount for their donation, and we can pass the opportunity to own one of these magnificent horses onto you!
How do the leases work
Adopters pay a fee once a year for three years and at the end of the three-year period, after all adoption requirements are met, the breed registration papers are transferred to the adopter. The Horses are able to be shown using show leases through the breed organizations so amateur competitors can show.
Where do the RE-RIDE horses come from:
All horses in the RE-RIDE Program are owner donated. The majority of our horses are show horses, with show records, have competed at the AQHA or APHA level and have some of the best bloodlines in the industry. Some of the horses come in needing rehabilitation for an injury, training or retraining and the program provides that service for each horse giving them the time they need to recover, and the training or retraining to be successful!
While not every horse is capable of competing at the top level many of them are. Our horses allow those seeking to get into showing at the breed level, or wanting to be competitive at the open show level an opportunity to have a been there done that horse that can help them achieve their dreams of showing successfully.
Fees:
The fees for our adoptions are based on the horses show records, training and maintenance. While they may be more than some organizations, our horses are a lot different from all other organizations have the training and show experience that others can’t offer.
Funding:
RE-RIDE is a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization and we are funded through donations from private individuals. We do not receive any funding from AQHA/ APHA/ NSBA or any other organization. We do receive grants from private foundations and individuals who believe in our horses and our cause. The fees for adoptions go right back into the program providing veterinary, farrier, dental, training, individualized rehabilitation and care for the horses in our program.
