A TRUE LEGEND IS GONE
Skippity Doo Da
01/01/2002-12/23/2021
With an extremely heavy heart, we had to let go of Skippy last night.
We had the true honor to be able to have had him in our lives for over 15 years. The first time I saw him, the only nice thing I could think to say about him was, "he's a pretty color". Once I got to know him, I LOVED him!! Once I got to own him, I HATED him!! Once I figured him out, I ADORED him!! We became an unstoppable team. He would give me everything I asked for, and then some!! You want the impossible done? No problem, let me go grab Skippy. He had the heart of a lion in a tiny little body. As far as he was concerned, he was ten foot tall and bullet proof. He's one of the reason's that I became the horseman that I am today. He didn't care who you were, you had to earn his respect before he'd listen to a thing you had to say. You didn't make demands, you whispered requests. He took me from Extreme Cowboy Races, to gymkhana's, to pushing cattle in the back country. He'd climb like a mountain goat, he'd jump things bigger than himself, and he'd swim rivers. There was nothing I ever asked of him that he refused. Now he was NOT perfect. To be honest, he was kind of an a**hole! But the day I asked him to please take care of my baby girl after she'd had a really bad accident with another horse, is where he really started to shine!! He once again gave me everything and more. He gave his heart to Laney that day! He answered her every request with a gentleness that exceeded all expectations! Once they got the hang of each other, the sky was the limit. When they stepped into the ring together, they were unbeatable!! It was like watching magic in motion!! A truly amazing, once in a lifetime partnership.
He wasn't with us long enough, but he will live on in the hearts of the many he's touched!!
Rest in peace my beautiful friend. 💜
