Copied - These points have been my thoughts for years! Worth reading…

As we enter Horse Show Season
1. Horses don’t get broke at home. Be brave and enter!
2. EVERY disappointment at the show is a learning opportunity..... Be humble, be open to change.
3. Everyone gets nervous. Everyone has bad days. Everyone makes mistakes. Literally: EVERYONE!
4. Don’t watch others in the warmup ring and start changing what you have been doing - if you see something cool or you want to step up your game that’s homework for after the show!
5. When we run out of knowledge, we often punish our horses. Seek help instead.
6. Be a competitor, yes! BUT be a horseman first & foremost! Whether you are a professional or not, there is always someone watching who sees you as a role model.
7. Supporting your fellow competitors and engaging with people. It will enrich your show life.
8. Know the rules of competition! Make sure your attire and tack is legal. Read the rule book, ask questions and be well prepared.
9. Live the Experience, Have FUN & Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff!

Recent studies conducted by the Institute of Heart-Math provide a clue to explain the two-way ′′healing′′ that occurs when we're close to horses.
According to researchers, the heart has an electromagnetic field larger than the brain: a magnetometer can measure the energy field of the heart that radiates from 2.4 meters to 3 meters around the human body.
While this is certainly significant, perhaps more impressive than the electromagnetic field projected by the heart of a horse is five times larger than that of a human being (imagine an electromagnetic sphere around the horse) and it can influence straight into our own heart rate.
Horses are also likely to have what science has identified as a "coherent′′ heart rate (heart rate pattern) that explains why we can feel better when we're close to them. Studies have found a coherent heart pattern or HRV to be a solid measure of well-being and consistent with emotional states of calm and joy-that is, we exhibit such patterns when we feel positive emotions.
A coherent heart pattern is indicative of a system that can recover and adapt to stressful situations very efficiently. Many times, we just need to be in the presence of horses to feel a sense of well-being and peace.
In fact, research shows that people experience many physiological benefits by interacting with horses, including lower blood pressure and heart rate, higher beta-endorphins (neurotransmitters acting as pain suppressors), decreased stress levels, decreased feelings of anger, hostility, tension and anxiety, better social working; and greater feelings of empowerment, confidence, patience and self-efficacy.

Here are the results from Saturday's CW Equestrian Center Show held on June 17th! The weather was good and we had a really good turnout!! Thank you to our lovely judge, Madeline Erce and her mom who scribed for us! Lots of helpful comments and such beautiful penmanship! Thanks to all those who came and showed off your lovely horses! Thank you SO much for our awesome volunteers!! We could not do this without you and you were excellent!! Thanks Carol, Ken, Toni, Alaina, Eathin, Darla, Delaney, and all of Crystal's students. If they were not riding, they were helping others! Thanks to Cailyn for making my grain buckets for me. 😁 We had a lot of good sportsmanship and lots of smiles. Lots of learning moments, too.

I love having shows!! It is a lot of work, but ah, the rewards of seeing everyone, meeting new people, it just really makes it worthwhile!!

Well done!! We'll see you all again at our next show, August 12th with our judge, Barbara Wood.
