Looking for a fun, enrichment activity to celebrate the season? 🎃🍂
Try “Two Paws Up” on a pumpkin and snap a pic 📸. It’s like a private photoshoot with you and your pup!
We love teaching this confidence building cue to puppies for socialization as they explore new surfaces, textures, and objects.
👉 This cue is also great as a consent signal we often teach dogs when we are working on cooperative care. This cue can help dogs feel safe and in control when it comes to getting into the backseat of a car, vet/grooming visits, nail trims, teeth brushing, hair brushing, or ear cleans.
Thank you to Miss Cora one of our Positive Puppy Students for showcasing this fun cue for fall.
✨ Two Paws Up Tutorial ✨
1️⃣ Grab supplies: Treats + a stable object.
2️⃣ Get attention: Make sure your dog’s focused.
3️⃣ Lure paws up: Use a treat to guide both front paws onto the object. Mark & reward!
4️⃣ Repeat in short sessions: 5–10 mins.
5️⃣ Add cue: Say “Two Paws Up” as they do it. Gradually fade the lure.
6️⃣ Build confidence: Increase time on object & use stable surfaces.
7️⃣ Practice everywhere: Try new objects & environments!
👏 Praise + reward every success!
