Red Kingdom, we’re back! If you have a “big feelings” dog who reacts to every person, dog, or squirrel then play this pattern game!

How to play:
1️⃣ Set up a line of bowls a few feet apart.
2️⃣ Drop a treat in the first bowl and let your dog eat.
3️⃣ Wait for a check-in (eye contact/engagement).
4️⃣ Mark the check-in, move to the next bowl, and repeat.

This game builds confidence, focus, and resilience—Share with me if you give it a try!

Also, Riese and I say Go Chiefs!!!! ❤️💛🏈

Sometimes it feels awkward speaking up for your dog; especially if you struggle with people pleasing tendencies.

👉Here are some prompts to help you advocate for your dog that are calm, clear, polite and non-negotiable. 🙌

Remember you are your dog’s voice. Their safe space. Never feel guilty if you have to speak up for your dog. They’re lucky to know they can hang their hat on you. 💛

Difficult walks is something many dog guardians face. The good news is that there are management strategies you can take to better support your dog on walks. Some of my favories👇

✅ Use a longer lead - Sometimes just giving our dogs more space can solve a lot of leash frustrations for both ends of the leash. We recommend using anywhere from a 10-15 ft long line. Find what length works best for you!

✅ Create distance from potential triggers - Our dogs have a lot bigger bubbles when it comes to space than us humans. Space will help your dog feel safe when they are unsure about a distraction.

✅ Opt for no on-leash greetings - A lot of dogs really don’t want to say hi to other dogs or people when they are on leash. Choose to observe rather than saying hi 👋 to everyone you see.

✅ Always work in your dog’s zone - Find the distance where your dog feels comfortable and can emotionally self-regulate when encountering triggers. Only push when your dog is ready to be closer to a potential trigger. We like to call this your “dog’s working zone!”

✅ Always carry your treat pouch - Have high-value rewards ready to help your dog desensitize to potential triggers. This is NOT distracting your dog with cookies; it’s there to help create predictability and lets your dog know they are safe.

✅ Choose quiet locations to walk - I love secluded trails, empty parking lots, school playgrounds on weekends, or even walking in cemeteries.

✅ Body block or create visual triggers - Step between your dog and the potential trigger to let them know you’ve got this under control as their guardian. Also hiding behind trees, parked cars, or boulders is a great way to let a potential trigger pass. Pair it with one of your dog’s favorite pattern games that we teach students at Raise The Woof!

Dog Guardians and beyond: Are you ready to find greater walks both you and your dog enjoy? We can help! 🙌
