Delight Deserves Her Chance

226 days. That’s how long sweet Delight has been waiting for someone to see her, to truly see her.

She’s grown up here at the shelter, watching other dogs come and go. She wags her tail as families walk past, hoping today will be the day someone chooses her. But day after day, she’s overlooked.

Delight is a beautiful black-and-white Pit mix puppy with a heart as pure as her name. She’s silly and sweet, full of love to give, and she dreams of a home where she can run, play, and finally feel what it’s like to belong.

We don’t know why she’s been here so long. Maybe it’s because she’s not a tiny puppy anymore, or maybe it’s because she’s a Pit mix. But none of that defines who Delight is. She’s a wonderful dog who just wants someone to love her as much as she’ll love them.

226 days is too long for any dog to wait for their second chance. Delight deserves a family, a warm bed, and a life full of happiness. She’s ready—she’s been ready.

Congratulations to our fearless leader, Chris! As of this year, Maumelle Animal Services has become its own department, with Chris Davis as the director.

Chris, we are beyond proud of you. Anyone who has interacted with you knows your heart for animal care and community outreach. Your dedication, loyalty, and work ethic are unwavering. Your integrity and your power are unyielding.You approach everything with humor and passion.
For all you have attained, we congratulate you. To all you hope to achieve, we will work with you to see it done.

If you've ever wondered why MAS seems to stand out in terms of a cohesive staff and a dedicated volunteer base, a lot of it comes down to one factor: we would follow Chris anywhere. He is a true leader. One who leads with morality, integrity, compassion, and care. He leads by example. He is kind and understanding if you are open and honest with him. He protects his staff, his volunteers, his shelter, his animals, and his community. He genuinely considers his cohort family, as we consider him our family.

We can't wait to see what a wonderful year 2025 will be! 🐈‍⬛️🐕🐾

Meet Trip!

Looking for a puppy with personality and charm? Trip might just be your perfect match!

Trip is a stunning mixed-breed puppy with a gorgeous brindle coat adorned with white patches. His soulful eyes are enough to melt anyone’s heart. We think there’s some Husky in there, but one thing’s for sure: he’s 100% adorable!

Trip may be half deaf, but he doesn’t let that slow him down one bit. He’s a lively, wiggly little guy who’s always on the move, ready to play and explore. But don’t worry—once he’s tuckered out, he’s all about belly rubs and snuggles.

Trip is still learning the fine art of “manners” (whatever those are), so he’ll need a family ready to help him navigate puppyhood. But with some training, love, and snacks, this little rascal will grow into the most loyal and entertaining companion you’ve ever had.

Milkshake and Meatloaf had an absolute joy visiting the residents of The Lakes at Maumelle Nursing Home today! Their wagging tails, sweet faces, and gentle spirits brought smiles to everyone they met. It’s always heartwarming to see the special connection between our furry friends and the community, reminding us how much love and joy pets can share. We’re so grateful for the opportunity to spread a little cheer and brighten the day for these wonderful residents!

Please please please, stop by the shelter and stuff the stockings for our wonderful ACOs! They work so hard year round to care for the animals and people of Maumelle. Because of their caring hearts and their incredible work ethic, they have all made the nice list. We'd love to see them celebrated.

🎅🐾 A Paw-some Letter to Santa from Our Shelter Pets! 🐾🎅

The cats and dogs here have been busy practicing their best “good boy” and “good girl” behavior (okay, mostly good) to make sure they’re on Santa’s nice list! Here’s what they’re asking for this Christmas:

🎁 Purina Dry Food for dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens – because “hangry” isn’t a good look on anyone.
🎁 Wet Cat Food – any brand, because the cats think they deserve the finer things in life.
🎁 Cat Litter – self-explanatory.
🎁 Tasty Treats & Chews – for bribing… um, training purposes.
🎁 Toys! Regular and enrichment toys to keep the zoomies under control (or at least try).
🎁 Collars – all sizes, because accessorizing is important.
🎁 Pet Wipes – even our mess-makers want to look presentable.
🎁 Anything Animal-Related – if it squeaks, crinkles, or smells like chicken, we’re in!

Our furry friends promise to repay your generosity with endless tail wags, purrs, and possibly some drool.

Charleston, Meatloaf, Milkshake, and Tempe had an amazing time at our adoption event at Raising Cane’s! These adorable pups stole the show in their festive Santa hats and enjoyed all the attention and love they received from visitors.

While none of them found their forever homes just yet, we’re staying hopeful! These sweet dogs are still available for adoption and can’t wait to meet the perfect families.

Meet Tempe, the four-legged tornado of joy! This stunning Doberman Pinscher mix is just over a year old and comes fully loaded with energy, love, and the ability to turn any ordinary day into a full-blown adventure.

Tempe loves people—like, “Oh my gosh, you’re my favorite person EVER” kind of love—and she’s been pretty cool with the dogs she’s met so far. She’s basically an extrovert in fur, making her an awesome match for an active family or individual who’s ready to keep up with her zoomies.

Her hobbies include playing, more playing, and then possibly napping (but only after even more playing). She’s all about that action-packed lifestyle, though she could use a bit of finishing school to polish up her manners. Don’t worry—she’s a quick learner, especially if treats are involved.

🐾 Adopt Meatloaf: Your New Best Friend! 🐾

Are you ready to meet a dog with main character energy? Meet Meatloaf, a short, chunky, 5-year-old lap mix with a BIG personality and an even bigger love for belly rubs. Seriously, he’s basically a walking belly-rub request form. ❤️

Meatloaf came to us because of his separation anxiety (he’s a little needy, but honestly, same). He’s looking for a family who can shower him with attention and reassure him that, yes, he is, in fact, the center of the universe.

This guy has energy for days! He loves playing ball and running around the yard like he’s training for the Zoomie Olympics. If you’ve got a yard, he’ll turn it into his personal racetrack. If not, clear the furniture because he’s still getting those laps in. 🏃‍♂️⚽

Meatloaf is also a certified family man—he’s great with kids and cats. He’ll play with your kids, ignore your cat (or try to be its best friend), and then demand a belly rub to top it all off. His life motto? If you rub it, they will come.

Cocoa, our sweet cream and white Pit, relaxes in the sunshine while Delight, the playful Pit mix, bounces around with endless energy. Toledo, the stoic Doberman, keeps things calm and cool as Oakland, our fun-loving red and white Pit, adds some excitement to the group.
