An all two common South Jersey story, as you may know, throughout the causeway these female turtles preoccupied looking for the perfect place to lay their eggs, are hit and tragically killed, either by people who just either see them and it’s an accident, or worse…. Either way, a lot of our diamondback terrapins lose their lives at this time of the year. So, please, drive careful and watch out for our little friends who only want to live. Thank you.
Thankful we were able to save the lives of these babies to be hatched soon.

This time of year we are bombarded with calls for injured animals of all types. Some, not even reptiles.
Just to be clear, we are a reptile rescue, that helps those that can no longer care for their healthy reptile. If you find an animal, that was hit by a car or injured by landscapers or needs medical attention, please contact a veterinarian or an animal rehabber or your local wildlife officials, such as fish and game for direction. Hello and welcome to our page if you haven’t been here before and thank you to all those that have been with us! We are growing!! I want to give a big thank you to God for everything that he has given us and for providing! I want to thank you to all of YOU for choosing us and for wanting, what is best for your babies, we are a small rescue, but we are growing and we are wanting to give and provide a naturalistic experience. A great home for all of our reptiles to live out their lives if they remain with us with that being said it does take money. We are a small NON government funded rescue. (Which I am working on changing) so any donations are definitely appreciated! Ownership of adopted animals have a rehoming fee. It is what we charge to rehome your animal.
Upon making the decision
to surrender your pet to SJTTR, you’re signing all of your rights to said pet, to SJTTR to now care for, your former pet, as their own. SJTTR cannot guarantee that your pet will stay here forever. Sometimes the door swings both ways. Sometimes, the particular animal you just donated, does stay with us and sometimes some pets do find new homes but this is our right. Thank you.

SJTTRR is Celebrating our 4th year anniversary of helping those beautiful reptiles whose parents/keepers/caretakers could no longer manage to care for their pets .
It has been our pleasure to get to know each and every person who has chosen us to care for their loved pets .
As we move forward in this chapter of our lives we are finding it difficult at times to expand on our own .
As our Tortoises 🐢 have grown in numbers from a few to an outright herd haha . We find ourselves in need of a large shed / building to maintain their winter time needs as Tortoises & many Turtles must be housed indoors in the colder months of the year .
We are asking if anyone knows of a large shed that can be delivered to our facility in Southern New Jersey. Or would like to donate towards the purchase of a much needed space for our Tortoises .
It would be an incredible gesture . Going towards a very noble cause.

Yesterday, we celebrated our third anniversary, and we are so grateful and thankful to everyone that chooses Love, in a beautiful place, for their babies. It was a beautiful sunny day, and we had a few releases, and a few that were awake and basking!

What a sweet guy we got in yesterday. Unfortunately, he was not taken care of properly and has some metabolic bone disease. This doesn’t hinder him and he is healthy in every other way. His shell is just not the prettiest but is super sweet.
He’s only five years old and he’s looking for his forever home. If you are interested in adopting him, send us a message! 🐢💕

Someone came and dropped off a turtle and a bunch of supplies early this morning at our rescue. Without any warning or any notice that this was going to be done. I’m not sure who it was but to leave a turtle, in a dry tank, in 40° weather, is cruel. And very unappreciated. This is not the mission of our rescue. It is to help and not to harm. If you cannot pay the fee, then there are ways to work it out but to just leave an animal this way, is totally unacceptable.

I started my rescue group, South Jersey Turtle, Tortoise & Reptile Rescue, two years ago. I want to give a thank you to everyone that has followed me, promoted me and has been a dedicated follower! We have worked hard to make this what it is. We are now recommended by veterinary offices, and animal rescues from as far away as New York, Delaware, Maryland, and Philadelphia!
We are number one on Google search. At least, that is what I am told! lol 😆 Compassion, Love and most of all Faith and love of God and nature, is what I am based on.
Everyone that comes to visit, loves our sanctuary and is able to see our farm and what it has become in just two years!
Oh and…. We now have these T-shirts for sale!
This rescue was begun by two widowers who met, fell in love, and realized their love for tortoises and reptiles were equal. Out rescue is based on faith and love for all of God’s creatures.

This sweet girl came into our rescue today! She was thought to be a boy ( by her owner) and was named Cupid 💘 and suddenly became Cupida 😁
She is missing her tail but is super healthy and so lovey! She’s looking for her forever home! Please reach out, if you are interested and fully able to care for her. Thank you! 🦎💕

This little guy came to us from another rescue (which only deals with farm animals). He’s estimated to be around 4-5 yrs old. We were referred to them, and highly recommended, which means the world to us! He came from a petting zoo and is the sweetest boy! He has no name. I wonder what we can call him…. 😁
